The Ref

Good old Brooksy is back, the man who threw a few cards about in the 1-1 home draw with Brentford in January, remember he sent Kyle Naughton off ? Deservedly so too. He was also the ref when Cardiff City realised they were second best in Welsh football in December when the swans won 2-0 at Leckwith. He also sent off Joe Ralls that day, and deservedly so.

Huddersfield is inching closer to the relegation zone in the league table. The hosts have been winless for the last five matches in the campaign, following a 2-1 loss on the road against Middlesbrough. They have picked up 33 points from 9 wins and 6 draws in their 30 league appearances this season until now.

Swansea City hold fourth spot and will have an eye for the second spot in the league. The away team has picked up 56 points from 16 wins and 8 draws in their 28 attempts in the championship so far this season. They are on a five-game unbeaten streak, including a 1-0 win at home against Nottingham Forest.

Huddersfield Town vs Swansea City Head-to-head

Two of their recent five matches have ended in a draw.
Their previous encounter gave a 1-2 away win for the Terriers.
Both teams have scored in their recent three fixtures.
The Swans have recorded three of the last five overall wins.
The host has lost only one of their last five clashes at home.

Huddersfield Town Facts

Huddersfield Town AFC (Association Football Club) was founded in 1908. They become a member of the Football League 1910 and has since when claimed three league titles: 1924, 1925, 1926. In the 1923-24 season Huddersfield was given the title by the rule of goal ratio that when was in practise. They had a 1,818 goal ratio against that 1.794 of Cardiff. Ha Bloody Ha.

In addition to the three league titles, Huddersfield has played in four FA Cup finals and have won one time. Huddersfield was for a long period well-established in the top leagues, but after a relegation after 1971-72 season, the fans had to wait until the 2017-18 season for the club's return to the highest league level. Now they are back in the championship with all the dross. Swans CEO Julian Winter used to be at Huddersfield, but he isn’t anymore due to the fact he left. Had he not left it could be he would still be there.

Julian Winter leaving Huddersfield when he was offered the job at Swansea

SWANSEA LATEST

Steve Cooper wants Swansea City to build on their hard-earned win over Nottingham Forest and produce an improved performance against a “dangerous” Huddersfield side.

The Swans head to West Yorkshire on the back of their 1-0 win at the Liberty in midweek, sealed by a late Connor Roberts header.

Head coach Cooper admitted his side had not been at their best, but was full of praise for the heart and desire they showed to climb back up to third in the Championship table.

But the Swansea boss hopes to see a more fluent display at the John Smith’s Stadium, and believes it will certainly be needed against a Terriers side who have suffered a dip in form, but were very unfortunate to suffer defeat at Middlesbrough in midweek.

“It’s about playing well in the next game, that’s really important because I don’t think you can rely too heavily on games like the last one,” he said.

“You take them when they come, and we might look back at it and realise how important a moment that was.

“But, as I’ve said before, this season is different, it is hard to predict and hard to prepare. We’ve got 10 games in 31 days coming up, and when has that ever happened?

“All I am focused on is Huddersfield, it is a dangerous game, they played really well against Middlesbrough in midweek and we have got to be ready.

“There’s still a big chunk of the season to go, so you look forward rather than back.

“We know we will have to be very good, tactically and technically, on Saturday.”

More football news and obscure truths later.

I thought exactly the same about Hourihane, but the boy cannot run, there's no taking away his quality with free kicks etc, but can we afford to carry a player? I'm not sure personally.

Risca, i think he is a luxury. He lets players run off him and doesnt make himself available. When we come out we cannot get our wingbacks into the phase quickly. So if Fulton or Grimes have an off day, which has been very seldom this season it exposes us. Corey Smith is a must start if fit Wednesday.

Watford are a bigger worry than Brentford for me and we go there last game of the season.

If someone told me that we’d be in the mix on the last game of the season I’d have bitten their hand off.

Bournemouth Watford & Norwich still have a large chunk of their PL squad.

Coops has done a magnificent job with little money & using his contacts for loans .... people forget it as soon as we lose.

Does my head in.

I'd agree with that, but it doesn't give the team, or the manager immunity from criticism.

And against Forest, and today, we were bloody awful, wouldn't you agree?

I agree imagine if we were in League 1 or 2 again some on here would never cope.

It is a downside of the PL years though brings out the worse in our fan base.

We aren’t though are we? We have very good players, which is also down to Cooper I can’t fault his recruitment at all.

Some of the good players we don’t see though and the ones that are starting are sh@gged.

I do agree but the Cooper bashing after a defeat is tedious & predictable by some posters.

The guy is working wonders on a shoestring budget compared to others.

Do people think when he leaves we will be like Bournemouth & be looking at the likes of Vieira & Henry? As Thornbury posted we got some spoilt PL Jack’s who don’t know what it’s like when we are really gash.

Spot on post. Norwich have had a blip,it now appears we and Beentford are havibg a wobble too. we have lost for the first time in a while....we all know how this league can throw surprises and upset the form.book.Many individual players along with the manager getting a lot of stick.
As has been mentioned already the cause of the problem maybe a change in the team dynamic through the introduction of Hourihane. Yes he has much to offer but his lack of game time means he is not 100 contributing....and has disrupted a previously succesful formula. lets look forward to yhe next game we are still in the race

I’m with you on that - as always it’s the hope that gets you, after the early Brentford loss I got sucked into the ‘going second with still 2 games in hand - reality has now landed & focus on getting at least 4 points from the next 2 home games.

The starting line up drew 1.1 today.

The subs lost 0.3 Cooper made 5 subs and we got battered and ended up playing with 10 men.

We were poor today end of hopefully we will be better against Coventry.

Yes there are some supporters that will never take to Copper or even some of our players.
And I agree it does get a little tedious, unfortunately that's what you get on football forums.

I've praised and criticised Cooper on many occasions, I've also done the same to our players.

Today I criticised the whole team, for what I felt was a lack of effort, but that's just my opinion, others will no doubt differ.

Lets hope we are all praising the manager and the team after the Coventry game.

He made a forced change in Cabango for Bennett

Morris coming on for Lowe didn’t cost us the two quick fire goals. The same jaded team we saw Forest outplay us Wednesday carried on in same fashion and that result has been coming.

The starting 11 did indeed draw Cooper put 2 on at ht, we conceded 3 in 7 mins, he then put another 3 on.

We were lucky to be drawing at ht, the starting 11 are tired therefore should be rotated more often and I mean they should be on the bench to give the fringe a chance to get upto speed, I feel atm this is a must as we could go on a bad run.

After watching the last two games I'm starting to worry that teams are working us out, they are stifling us and we look absolutely clueless in attack as we only play one way, cooper needs to try a different formation as every game will be like the last two, as we get closer and closer to the business end of the season teams in the promotion and relegation areas will be battling even harder, we simply cannot rely on defending well and nicking a couple of goals here and there.

Let’s be honest...the team was shte on Wednesday and today. My take on it is Cooper gave them a chance to redeem themselves today and they blew it big time. No doubt there’ll be about 5 changes for the Coventry match and it’ll be point made.
I’m still hopeful that today was a one off and we will get points with two upcoming home games. Like I’ve said in earlier posts we are a point off second place with two games in hand.
Am I pro Cooper.? No...I argued against his appointment on here with a few posters, but to give the guy his due I don’t think the most ardent fan would think he could take us to where we are at the moment. Let’s see how the next few games play out eh.

You're not a Martin Luther clone for sure.
I see a man making excuses and one who will be off asap, certainly this summer.

I see tired players who have bust a gut. We are seeing now why his reluctance to use subs is costing us. We are where we are in spite of him not because of him.The praise for him is ludicrous.

We are in a strong position still to get promoted.Over to you Steve.

I think others like to moan for the sake of moaning.

Still posting completely useless clueless stuff then ?

Rarely known a so called fan who thrives on having a dig at our team, our manager, our Club. You sir are a beaut as they say.

Of course we were poor today. Our players didn’t perform on the day and it was compounded with a terrible, bad luck injury to Morris.

I’ll also some some credit to Udders, they defended superbly and scored some good goals. Their 4th was as good as you’ll see. There’s two teams out on a pitch see.

As Lee Trundle said, the aim now is to put that behind us and get back to winning ways. These things happen in football especially this season ( no fans ).

Our team and manager deserve nothing but praise this season for getting into this position. The play offs must be the realistic target with automatic promotion still a decent possibility. 👏

Only an idiot would eat a turkey curry on Christmas day
