Considering Cooper said midweek that the players "need to put fatigue to the side until the end of the season" and that "you can still put in good performances with fatigue" - that sounds like a deliberate dig at Cooper to me.

| Andre Ayew Blames "Tired Legs" for Poor Performances on 20:22 - Mar 10 by vetchonian | to answer one of those questions the last goal we scored from open play was our equaliser in the Stoke game the move started with Freddie in our box who passed to either Naughton or Ben then to Grimes Ayew then iut to Manning....so it wasnt that long ago. Yes we can be dire to watch at times but for the risk of repeating myself....I have shared an opinion/theory on other threads as to why we are where we are at.....how a manager can be so lucky to finish in the play offs one season and then be in touching distance of automatic promotion the following season...in their second season of senior management im sure the likes of Warnock would like that luck....its not luck its management...yes quite often its not pretty but has got results which may correspond with the target Coopers bosses have given him...ie promotion....and for them it will be the what not the how. |
The question actually was..... "How many goals have we scored from open play in, what feels like, forever?" So let me answer it.... 3 in 8 games!!!!! 3 in 720 minutes of football. Scandalous. Hourihane Norwich Roberts Forest Roberts Stoke Cooper has strangled the life out of us.

Statistics eh.....how many chances have we created in those 720 mins? Yes we have converted 3 but there have been far more chances created or moves which broke down around the box... WE are dire to watch at times I agree but I disagree that Cooper is trying to strnagle the football out of us...

The statistics, or facts, as I look to call them, are even worse for chances created. We are the worst in the league for that. This makes for horrific viewing: Look at the expected goals our whole team have produced since Christmas. Lowe has done quite well in fairness scoring 4 from an expected 1.64. But that was pre-Norwich. Since then it's become an absolute scandal. And this is the before and after Norwich. Our team has lost the plot. We're clueless at the moment and we all need to wise up to this - especially Cooper.

Maybe as discussed a major factor is Hourihane...we are still attempting to play him and in doing so that means we miss the enrgy of Smith or Fultons contribution....we look a better side with those 2 playing. You may think Im happy clapping but when you rewatch games there are signs of us trying to play football...we often play out from the back get into the box and cant finish, or the move breaksdown just outside the opposition box. Another way of looking at things we have scored form set pieces ie corners or penalties as we have been in an attacking position...how often in the past were we crap at scoring form set pieces. I am not advocating Pullis ball but the way many go on about Cooper destroying our identity its not completely true. Watch the games again there are lots of moments of flowing attacking football its just that we are not clinical or strong in the final third....

I also maybe a little thick This table the shots talked about are these the total shots each player attempted in the total of games? If so by my reckoning before the Norwich game 29 games in total the team collectively made 174 shots so 174/29 = 6 shots per game Since Norwich there have been 5 games and a tootal of 44 shots = 8.8 shots per game Statistcs what do they mean? As i said watch the games over again....the attempt to play football is in evidence in most games...but also the desire to not lose is there Edit I am thick cocked up there there have been 7 games since Norwich so actaully 44 shots /7 = 6.28 shots per game so no worse! It's 8 games with "Norwich win included" it says... The below are only GOALS FROM OPEN PLAY (bear that in mind) -------------------- 26 games BEFORE = 24 goals from open play (don't get me wrong, this ain't anything to be shouting home about) but nearly a goal a game TOTAL = 0.92 goals per game to be precise 8 games AFTER (including Norwich) = 3 goals (this is calamitous) TOTAL = 0.375 goals per game. --------------------- First 26 games Combined XG = 20.15 = 0.78 XG per game Last 8 games combined XG - 4.48 = 0.56 XG per game Couple this with the general XG stats for the Championship where Swansea are either last or very near the bottom, you get a much fuller picture of the type of anti-football we play.

but the number of shots per game are not far apart we aee creating chances but failing to convert them...the Bristol game a case in point. i wamt the same as most on here i want attractive football....seen enough gash post Tosh under Colin Appleton et al....and i also want to see us win. i just take a wider view....Cooper is balancing the needs of the fans with those of the owners. They bought a PL club..sold to them as a money making opportunity by the sellouts ...i guess they want the club back there...we got yo the play offs amd i am sure they have charged Cooper with getting us up this season. so whilat we as fans are dissaoointed with tge quality and style...though as i keep saying if tou go back and sagch most games you will see football as we would like iy pkayed we are also pragmatic and look not to lose as Cooper knows what he needs to get results.

The shots per game are mostly the least important stat there. A shot isn't always even a chance, some are so speculative or crap that the XG on then would be 0.1 It's the chances that create the expected goals and the goals themselves that matter here. And let's face it, our stats are 10 tines worse if we took out one 45 minutes of football in the last 8 games. For 6.5 games we've been in real trouble Not scoring, but worse, not creating hardly anything. There's no point going around in circles here, I'm not sure you're being wholly honest with the situation, and by you keeping on mentioning one half of football in 7 games illustrates that for me. What about... Coventry Forest Hudds Blackburb Boro Stoke

if you read my posts i ve alteady spojen about the Coventry game. i am arguing that we do try to play attacking footba..in the second half of the Coventry game we made several breaks from oue ien penalty area with interpassing we created abd still looked ti create sciring chances even though we were 1 up.....I am not saying tgat all is well abd rosy but that things are not as nany keep stating on here.....and i base my posts on rewatching the highlights and full ganes after tge event and with a crutical eye. Huddersfield we were gash and if you watch it Grimes was at fault fir two of their goals...yes without him we might be on a worsd state but ye van also be a luabikity. but as we know we can all have different opions

Honestly can't remember these chances you are talking about? What's our Xg for example? I'm not really a big advocate of that but I reckon we'll be low down table in that aswell.

Charts, stats, pie graphs, percentages, simultaneous equations, algorithms. Whatever next. 😂 Thank god it’s limited to just one or two. Third in the League. Game in hand. In with a chance of promotion. After selling nearly all of our best players too. Keep up the hard work lads. It might not be the prettiest but it’s effective. 👠

No one can understand how we have got there, because the football is dire and we don't score many goals. So the answer has to be our defense. But lately we are depending on luck we never used to have, if the penalties dry up we will be in dire trouble staying at the top.
| Andre Ayew Blames "Tired Legs" for Poor Performances on 14:20 - Mar 12 with 713 views | onehunglow | Warlocks to stats .I just trust my eyes A goalkeeper unwilling to come for crosses, refusing to get anywhere where he might get a clout, kicking the ball into touch, staying motionless as soft shots stroll past him. A keeper that rolls the ball directly out to full backs under pressure already. These then are looking to pass back to him and then it start all over again. You would never know he was wasting time. It starts with him and ends with him. His defenders-kids have been pretty astonishing, doing the work experienced pros would do. We see CH literally strolling sweat free during games whereas Grimes does the lot. Smith is underused and a decent pro as is Fulton, criminally underated Poor blood Jamal left to get on with it when there is a potentially excellent player in young Whittaker itching to get on . We could be third from bottom looking at us perform. It is a miracle we are where we are but that is because this league standard is dire and t fools nobody, well ok some. So,I aint a cooperite. Hang me | |

I blame our forwards who wander deeper and deeper sometimes deeper than our midfield, wander out wide and when we win ball our midfield look up and there nothing there to hit..we need a centre forward who's just that and stays central ,and will link up.and if we do play football, its either out wide or in midfield ,and then we run out of ideas with hopeful crosses with no one there..if our wing backs aren't crossing or getting on end things its nothing created...if teams nulify our wing backs, as they have been we create zilch ,as lately there nothing through middle, thing is two of them wander at same time and we not got a focul point.. Yep,Im afraid that is how it really is happy clappers. Angry and I are hardly acting in concert but this really is how MOST see thing so wind yer necks in with this ludicrous "positive "pysee take. We are hanging on right now and could fall away like we did when we exited the Prem. Reality is right there in front of us.
