Its a disgrace.
Its shocking.

Who are these people ?

Very clearly not an official party account and very obviously not their party position. Even a toddler could work that one out.

Just the Nats spreading fake news because they're obviously getting the impression from campaigning that a not insignificant number of welsh voters are going to stick two fingers up to the Senedd in May.

Shocking that a the FM gets 150k per year when the Uk PM gets around 170k

The true numbers of deaths are shown in the PHW figures which is based on positive tests. It is backed up by the excess deaths comparing this year to previous years. Both paint a similar picture yet you insist on following figures which include cases which include suspected cases where there has been no positive tests. Very often death certificates show more than 1 cause of death. As an example in my mothers case the death certificate would show Diabetes as it was an illness she had for many years but she actually passed away with Dementia. You want to include cases like this for coronavirus rather than cases where we actually know they had tested positive.

A smaller number of excess deaths just shows that we weren't a very healthy country before covid.

Who's to blame for that? Maggie or Boris?

Labour have only had over 20 years to try and improve the health of the nation so its obviously not their fault.

The problems have gone back many years. I dont think there is a simple answer despite you trying to make one. Maggie certainly didnt help but it happened before Welsh Assembly and before you and I were born.

Not being able to access health care, having to do an extra 2 hours drive to a specialist unit and having to wait 8 times as long as in England for elective surgery is ALL the Welsh governments fault.

Who chose where to put the MTU?

Whose chose to centralise some specialist units in Cardiff?

Who reduced funding to the Welsh NHS last year?

Who cut Welsh ICU beds?

Drakeford and Gething.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Lets take paragraph 2 the Welsh Nhs did. Most of the population is in South East Wales and more people can get to it easier. Why not put it in Newtown. Not many people living there but probably more accessible for all of Wales. Your antI Cardiff bias like many on here doesnt fit with the facts. Look at the size of the population around Cardiff and compare it with Swansea. There is hardly any population west and North of Swansea.. RCT in itself has a similar population to Swansea and that is not taking into account Cardiff, Newport, Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly and Vale of Glamorgan. As I say if you want it to be placed for geographical reasons it should be in Newport. If it based on the population base it goes to Cardiff.

Whilst on the subject why are the English units in the South West in and Plymouth. It takes longer to go from Falmouth, Truro and Penzance than it does for you to travel to Cardiff. They are put where they are to cover the maximum number of population within the shortest of time. Exactly why the Welsh NHS decided on Cardiff.

I don't doubt that the problems are long standing, but after 24 years of a Labour administration Wales is still the unhealthiest nation in the UK and has the worst performing NHS.

Enough is enough.

Oh good grief, I've told you this before, there is an MTU in Bristol so now we have 2 MTU's within an hour of each other and people in West Wales will need a helicopter, if one isn't available people will die.
Have an MTU incident in Newport andyou're laughing though. It had nothing to do with what was best for Wales and everything to do with Gething wanting it in Cardiff. I remember another consultation being done and the results not being published although there was a public outcry about it going to Cardiff.

Your comment about Netown is just typical really, just more bluster to defend the indefensible.

Edit, what about the other pointts? No comments?

The Welsh NHS doesnt decide what happens in England. It does what happens in Wales and it has been placed nearest the bulk of the Welsh population. It is a shame that you are so bilndsided by your anti Cardiff bias that you cannot work that out.

Just for the records your beloved UK government has 22 in England. England has approximately 20 times the number of people as Wales so it is correct to have 1. You either place it nearest the vast majority of your population or somewhere which is geographically central. If you decide on a geographical basis you use Mid Wales because that would be equidistant to everywhere. If you based it on population base you go for Cardiff. Swansea is neither. The population based west of Swansea is 300000 less than 1/10 the population of Wales. The population around Cardiff and easy to get to is over 900000 ie 3 times higher than West Wales so you are likely to get 3 times as many patients around Cardiff, the valleys and Gwent than you will in West Wales yet you want 3 times as many to travel further. Your comments are absolutely senseless, based on an anti Cardiff bias and dont fit with facts.

In terms of England there are 22 units and most of them are in the biggest centres of population like Bristol, Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham, Brighton, Manchester and Liverpool ie the biggest cities. They also tend to be in very large teaching hospitals. There is only 1 teaching hospital in Wales and that is Cardiff. Swansea university doesnt offer the normal medicine course but a post grad course.

Large parts of the UK dont have easy access to a MTU particularly in places like Cornwall, Kent and Essex. The situation in Pembrokeshire is no different to that in Cornwall. You can argue the same about Mid Wales. Whether you have a MTU in Cardiff or Swansea you will have the same issues and this will apply to much or North Wales which leads to Liverpool rather than South Wales.

Whilst on the subject of centralisation in the biggest cities. Why has the UK government based its administration in South East England as far away as possible from Wales, Scotland and the North of England. Why was the new English football stadium cited in London rather than some closer to the North say Birmingham. The reason for this is things are placed as near the largest possible amount of population.

You dont just see it in the UK look at the Republic of Ireland. Their government and major sporting stadia are based in . Why not Cork or Athlone.

Housing a major trauma centre in Cardiff rather than Swansea is entirely the correct decision. It is near the vast majority of the population of South Wales. Even people from Llanelli will only take just over the hour and the number of people in the Trauma Centre from West of Swansea will be very small as the population base is small and scattered.

There 's actually two in Bristol ,one adult and one for children . The problem you have is the mindset is that no one dare travel west. if it had been based in Swansea it would have covered a larger geographical area embracing west and mid Wales .Although it should be acknowledged we were gifted a new new-look cardiac ITU a few years ago .

You can't just compare excess deaths to previous years, we weren't in a pandemic. The numbers you want to believe make the governing party you support look better, that's why you won't believe anything else.

Many of the deaths in hospitals show more than once cause. Having more than once cause is a contributory thing but still people with other illnesses maybe wouldn't have died if they didn't have covid.

Why would the ONS lie about deaths at home? We trust ONS stats more at other times so why don't youtrust them now? As I said in the first para, it makes Drakeford look worse.

Our friend Julianne died at home, she had covid symptoms, covid was on her death cert. whether it was the main cause or just contributory, if she hadn't caught covid she'd probably still be alive today.

Why is it that the UK, Scottish, Northern Irish and Welsh governments use the same system and that system shows the number of deaths in Wales very similar to the excess deaths in Wales. That includes the pandemic. It you have say 100 deaths last year and have 120 this year you have 20 more. Simple really despite your efforts to discredit it. The figures for this year show a slightly larger increase than the PHW figures but absolutely nowhere near your figures. I will always trust a positive test over a suspected test. At least that way you actually know someone had it. You prefer to accept myth rather than fact.

I have no adopted country.
I just live here and have brought up a fine family here.
I am very lucky to live here in a beautiful vibrant peninsular that is truly eclectic although for people like you possibly too much wealth and too much poverty. Wirral has the lot.

Home is still Swansea as it s part of my soul. It s why I waste so much time on here.
If I didn’t care ,like many, we wouldn’t be arguing as we are

Independence would kill my homeland although it is a rhetorical argument as it will never happen.

It's not just about population though. That argument holds no water.

The population of SE Wales are within comfortable reach of the major trauma centre in Bristol, especially by air ambulance.

The busiest road in Wales extends 100 miles west past Cardiff. There are fatal accidents along the entire stretch.

Consider tourism, what is the summer population of Pembrokeshire?

Consider industry, are there any major oil refineries or steel works closer to Cardiff than Swansea?

It's not just about numbers of people it's about what they are doing and where they are doing it

No basing it in Cardiff was a Senedd "Cardiffcentric" thing. If it was in Morriston Hospital people in Cardiff would have an hours drive either way to Bristol or Swansea, people further West than Llanelli wouldn't have an extra hours travelling time.
That travel timetable, it assumes no big delays. I can tell you now, as as a former regular traveller in and out of Cardiff that at peak periods, it can take 40 minutes from the motorway down onto Manor wayand to the Heath. That's when you get to Cardiff, many rush hours (in normal times) it can take an hour to get through Port Talbot.

Still though, what about the other points, I did ask but I presume you can't defend them so you ignore them?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Do me a favour and put me on ignore as well. Nobody debates with you, you just churn out one sided stats to bore the pants off anyone who disagrees with you.

You should be capable of doing that yourself. I can only put you on ignore to read what you put. Having seen the rubbish you wrote yesterday about shielders being lucky I would have thought you would be ashamed. I certainly would be if it was me. Your on ignore my end.

Read my post again with an open mind. I did not say people shielding were lucky, I said you were luckier than many with your guaranteed income and no need to go out to work. Many suffering financially will have different opinions and we should sympathise . My point was your opinion will differ vastly with many, who this pandemic has affected hard and I would like you to look at things differently. If you rarely venture out will not have a first hand view of what is really happening out in the world and will rely on other peoples opinion, there is nothing like seeing life through your own eyes.

IMO opinion nothing to be ashamed of here. My post in full.

"You just have to accept that the views of someone who is on a generous civil service pension and a state triple lock pension, with the security involved will have a different opinion on the current situation. Add to that you state that you have been shielding so not actively keeping the country going, just banging away at a keyboard stating stats without understanding what is happening in the real world.

Your views could therefore differ from someone who has been on furlough for nearly a year on 80% of the minimum wage and does not even know if they have a job to go back to. Your opinion could also differ from someone who has been a key worker, not necessarily NHS who has worked tirelessly through this pandemic an taken all the shit that goes with it. Your views could also differ from single people working from home with no opportunity to socialise and build a future. Yes you have your opinion but accept the opinion of others. Remember that youngsters are a low risk of serious illness but have put up with a lot to keep the older generation alive.

Finally you continually knock Johnson and yes he has made major mistakes. But if he didn't have the foresight to order the vaccines and instigate the rollout, we would not be coming out of lockdown in Wales now. You are praising Drakeford for this, you really need to have a good hard look at yourself, appreciate what you have and how lucky you are and leave the rest of us to try and get this country back on its feet."

I did put you on ignore for a month, but I was unable to follow the replies of the many posters replying criticising you and they did not make any sense until I unlocked you.

Johnson is bad, Drakeford is good.

Even if they both do the same thing.

That's the extent of the argument, no individual points are ever addressed because to raise them means you are obviously a Tory.

You'll then be placed on ignore because he realises that you are probably correct.
