Tribal football believe Hourihane is coming back on 15:09 - Jun 13 by max936
He was worse than Renato, at least Renato looked for the ball, plus he was young with little experience in comparison to 32yr old Hourihane.
Renato Sanches was one of the most talented players I've ever seen play for us. The way he would receive the ball in our half, quickly turn past the player pressing him and accelerate through and break the opponent's midfield line was truly incredible.
I've watched a lot of Ligue 1 on BT Sport this season and he does the same thing for Lille that he did here, albeit his decision making regarding when to try to spin and run and when to play a simple pass is much improved.

There's plenty examples of it here.
Pity he was colour blind.

He had a torrid time here indeed. I'm not surprised to see him carry a mid table French team to the league title this season. He's that good.
I didn't say he wasn't a good player, that much was known before he came here, but he did little here something went wrong for him and us, glad he's doing well his talent was never in question his ability to use that talent here was.

You're one of the better posters on this forum, Max.

A player ,yet another misused and misunderstood. A young player of a big Tournament seen to be an abject failure at our club. Now he's ripping it up atLille who have screwed moneybags PG.
I d say summat should be obvious.
Hourihane is beyond comment. It's all been said.
He would be eaten alive by our home crowd and rightly so.
Odd player, anyone could see he had bags of talent, was it a confidence issue or poor coaching. Sometimes things just don't happen. Maybe a goal in his first couple of games and things could have been entirely different.

Could anyone see it while he was in a Swansea shirt? Looked like a fan dragged on to the pitch some matches.

There were glimpses here and there but they were obscured bythe bad things, like when he appeared to pass to an advertising board.
Thing is, I never thought Sanches wasn't trying whereas with Hourihane....after the first 4/5 games he seemed to rarely be trying and then, the point about age and experience becomes far more stark.
Clement was most likely the reason we were able to get him but the football he tried to get us to play definitely contributed to how poor Sanches was when here
This is Patches O'Houlihan saying "Take care of your balls, and they'll take care of you."

Yep
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Are people genuinely defending Sanches’ spell with us now? Didn’t we pay something like £8m just to loan him?

I'm not defending his spell here. He loan was terrible for us. I'm defending his talent, which was obvious even when playing for us.
Few players have the confidence and ability to spin those pressing them and drive forward into the opposition half. It is very rare. He had that ability, he just didn't use it well whilst here.
I stand by what I said - he's one of the most talented footballers I have seen play for us.
