Does it matter which army caught them? It proves they were/are there. Saying "not captured" is a bit disingenuous too. We are talking about extremists who would rather die than be captured. As it goes, it is another Vietnam. Bad decisions, bad actions followed by more bad decisions. Watching the news about it last night the coalition forces have withdrawn and removed all support leaving the Afghan army short in key areas, specially air and artillery cover. We know that just like in Vietnam, the friendly forces were littered with the enemy, infiltrator and spies. The whole thing is a cess pit of badness.

It doesn't prove they were there in numbers or being shielded or trained by the Taliban.A few commanders could have been there for any reason It was another Vietnam. There was no plan after the invasion.Bringing in democratic votes while there is no law and order is a waste of time The British army fared particularly badly, as they simple didn't have enough boots on the ground. They spent most of the time simply defending themselves, with the occasional pointless patrol, while telling the Yanks how we did it in Northern Ireland.

Well there is 28 million people who have been encouraged to live a life of freedom who now face a regime that restricts severely what women can do including having an education and for example executes people for adultery. This situation brought about by the US and its allies made worse by a decision to withdraw announced at short notice. I understand that you may not care, I think it is pretty abhorrent.

The notion that the invasion was to democratise Afghanistan is ridiculous. Maybe people should understand why the USA/U.K. invaded in the first place. Do you honestly think people in this country care what happens out there ?

Britferry suggested it would lead to additional refugees flooding to uk. If he is correct, then Brexit has ensured less EU cooperation and not more. You wanted a global Britain, own it.

It’s less than 500 , but I get your point. The British soldiers killed Afghanistan though is not really a huge amount compared to let’s say the battle of the Somme when there were over 57,000 casualties and almost 20,000 killed on the first day of the battle alone. Less than 500 British dead in almost 2 decades of fighting is extremely low. Of course on an individual level and for the loved ones it’s extremely painful.

That was the lie that was sold to us. The Mujaheddin, which i believe is a loose organisation of guerrilla fighters were fighting the Russians, Al Queda, is an international organisation, it doesn't have it's HQ in Afghanistan, this is what makes it so difficult to defeat ISIS, formed in Iraq in 2006, by Al Zargawi in response to the US led Invasion , and that again doesn't haEe a HQ

The Mujahideen fought the Russians, , so did Al Qaeda. The Taliban emerged from the wreckage of the Mujahideen in 1996 and that was the year Bin Laden went there and formed his training headquarters. Al Qaeda actually helped the Taliban to tale control of Afghanistan (well most of it) and it was Al Qaeda who killed the Mujahideen leader Ahmad Shah Masoud. Bin Laden's mountain stronghold was in Tora Bora which is in Afghanistan. We were sold a lie about Iraq and the gulf war. Thr Afghan invasion was because of 9/11 and Al Qaeda training terrorists to attack the West. Or was 9/11 a lie?

The Yanks with our backing couldnt beat them. I cant see what we can do, so let them to it... sadly we'll have plenty more crossing the channel in years to come now. |
The Chinese if they were minded to would go in there and scorch the place . They are the only power who could possibly go in and change Afghanistan . If opium catches on again they probably will

So no mention of the other many coalition countries who've also left the area , I'm surprised you didn't mention the English army in your yet another nonsensical post .
