Pull your troops out after 20 years of attempted westernisation and leave the Taliban to deal with those who were westernised.

You have to worry for the girls there who have been going to schools. The Taliban don't agree with female education. They've been known to kill them. That's the thin edge of the wedge out there.

As they are the ones with the most to lose perhaps they are the ones that should have been trained to fight.
The women of the Peshmerga kicked the butts of ISIS on the Turkey/Sirian border.
The women have got a much bigger vested interest in keeping the Taliban out than any of the men.

It’s less than 500 , but I get your point.
The British soldiers killed Afghanistan though is not really a huge amount compared to let’s say the battle of the Somme when there were over 57,000 casualties and almost 20,000 killed on the first day of the battle alone.
Less than 500 British dead in almost 2 decades of fighting is extremely low.
Of course on an individual level and for the loved ones it’s extremely painful.

The Mujahideen fought the Russians, , so did Al Qaeda. The Taliban emerged from the wreckage of the Mujahideen in 1996 and that was the year Bin Laden went there and formed his training headquarters. Al Qaeda actually helped the Taliban to tale control of Afghanistan (well most of it) and it was Al Qaeda who killed the Mujahideen leader Ahmad Shah Masoud. Bin Laden's mountain stronghold was in Tora Bora which is in Afghanistan.

We were sold a lie about Iraq and the gulf war. Thr Afghan invasion was because of 9/11 and Al Qaeda training terrorists to attack the West. Or was 9/11 a lie?

Al; Queda did not have it's HQ in Afghanistan. Movements, and that's what it is, can start anywhere and then expand

Yes, we were told a lie about Al Queda being based in Afghan and being sheltered by the Taliban

It’s a complete mess, tens of thousands have re and it’s likely that many many more will suffer the same fate while others will be maimed, beaten, raped etc, it’s a tragedy of huge proportions.

The Russians were beaten back in the 1980’s and eventually pulled out, I think the “West” may even have armed the Muhajadin and now “the western coalition” is withdrawing and I suspect other countries with vested invests in Afghanistan have been arming the Taliban. Afghanistan has been a lawless place for a long time and other countries such as Pakistan have had a strong influence in Afghanistan, if I remember correctly I am sure the Taliban came about as a result of religious influences in Madrassas.
Al Qaeda were there in the 1990s and 2000’s and Bin Laden lived in the Tora Bora mountains for a while, in 2001 after 9/11 the Americans launched a number of missiles at caves in the area to try and “deal with” Bin Laden but he’d already left.

I heard it said that in many places they were stuck in their bases unable to go out far on patrol for fear the Taliban would have them, apparently that was the case with the UK army when they were there.

That's correct. The British army rarely ventured far and spent most of it's time just protecting itself and not the people it allegedly liberated.

It was a humiliating defeat for the British army just as it was for the Yanks.

The British and Americans were never really engaged in a all out war over there.
Political decisions meant they could only engage the enemy in many cases in self defence.
The gloves never really came off, like they did during the Falklands and we all knew what happened there 🇬🇧

Whilst we've been in Afghanistan they've been sending their army into the UK. Hundreds of fighting aged men sneaked into blighty via France on the weekly.
They already have a huge army here and all over europe
In the meantime western countries have been de-masculating men so that when the brown stuff hits the fan and these armies rise up it will be a rout of epic proportions.

Only a matter of time

That would explain the lack of women in the dinghies. The figures are staggering 10000 have crossed this year so far and those are the ones we know about .

At least the Taliban will bring stability to Afghanistan. They don’t want democracy in that part of the world. It’s an alien concept to them. It all to do with which tribe/ clan you come from.

We can't engage in full out war, we don't have the resources or capability. You can't fight who you can't find. Afghanistan is a big and dangerous place

The Taliban tried frontal attacks in the beginning and got slaughtered, so they reverted back to guerrilla war

The Yanks tried a surge of troops and that worked for a while, but the UK doesn't have the manpower that the yanks have

Similar happened in Iraq, but that was a bigger embarrassment as we had to be rescued by the yanks, and we had to ask permission from the insurgents to actually leave.

The British army is a shadow of what it once was

The Americans don’t have the capability or resources 😂 don’t be so stupid.
The political will has never been there.

Don’t you think the USA with its satellites, drones and other sophisticated equipment can’t find them 😂
