| Vaccine passports 22:24 - Sep 3 with 13070 views | Jack123 | Serious question, what the hell is the point in these? Look's like people who have had the vax, can still spread it, so I just why? For me, it's looking more ridiculous each day, when they first mentioned it was at the time when they said the vaccine would stop the spread, but looking at the case numbers the last few weeks, this is clearly not the case, be quite silly not to be allowed to do something when there isn't any difference from someone who has had the jab or not. | Vaccine passports on 12:47 - Sep 9 by jackrmee | SO if there are tests that show results instantly, what is the point in vaccine passports? Everyone can just take a test at the turnstyle for instance. |
It's not instant-the NHS-issued ones take about 30 mins (though usually quicker in reality). As Lisa says it works in the same way as a pregnancy test as using an antibody to bind to the target-HCG in a pregnancy test and viral spike protein in the SARS CoV2 test. If the target binds then there is a colorimetric reaction-you get a band (well 2 as there is a control to makes sure the test works). Great as a simple screen, but lack sensitivity to be the main diagnostic. Should be recommended that people self test regularly when in work, or before going anywhere crowded. Common sense.

Well I'm telling you for a fat that he has just joined year 7 and has not had one test. My niece is in infant school. My brother just told me that they are not doing testing in either school. *edit....FACT [Post edited 9 Sep 2021 13:17]

| Vaccine passports on 13:04 - Sep 9 by jackrmee | Well, I know you get results by email with PCR, so it's surprising you can get results instantly. Don't watch the news. How are people like that meant to know about it? I've never heard of a free test that you can get and do on the spot. Sorry about that. |
How are people that don’t try to find out stuff by watching, reading or listening to the news etc supposed to find things out? No idea. Take some responsibility maybe? If this is the first time you’ve heard of lateral flow testing, then the comments you are making about vaccines etc don’t seem very well founded to be honest as you’re not doing much to educate yourself. Maybe Russell Brand could do a video?

‘They’ are not doing testing. The kids are supposed to be testing themselves. Doesn’t apply in infants school. As I said, it’s secondary school. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/ It may no5 be as strict in Wales as it is in England. Which is why rates are miles higher.

Yes in most cases, certainly the NHS ones. The one I used to come back from Spain was just up the nose. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

“ The Welsh Government is demanding parents make sure their child takes twice-weekly lateral flow tests before term starts and throughout the rest of the academic year in a desperate bid to prevent the same level of disruption to day-to-day learning that was seen during the peak of the pandemic. The strict measures come just a few weeks before children go back to school and colleges and universities re-open. Initially all learners will be expected to take two lateral flow tests in the week before their first day back. And throughout term time everyone is being asked to take regular rapid lateral flow tests twice a week and to report the results online.” As I say, enforcement may not be as strict. But the guidance is clear. The reality is you, your brother, anyone else, are not children. If you only do stuff because it’s THE LAW rather than because it’s sensible then bully for you. But that’s the reason that things like vaccine passports will become law. It’s because people can’t be relied on. I don’t believe that your brother didn’t know that twice weekly testing was required. As all parents have been informed. The issue is that others will also ignore it if they have the same attitude. And if you have a nephew who is autistic, and autistic kids are more vulnerable to more severe disease and have higher rates of death through Covid, which it seems is the case, that’s not great. I’d imagine family in that position would do everything they could?

Hang on a minute! No-one has mentioned to my brother anything about tests. If they were so worried, then surely a teacher would have mentioned it. The first my brother heard of this is when I showed him that article 2 minutes ago. Get off your high horse, sweetheart.

We (Wirral) are supplied tests from school. We have bi-weekly email reminders. At start of term (last week) all year 7 and 12 were tested at school. You can opt out, and some do, including my son as he suffers with ASD. My wife who is a Teaching Support Assistant, daughter and I all test 1-3 times each week. This is reality for now. It may change with more effective vaccines that reduce transmission more than the first generation, though 50% is not that bad, and higher levels of vaccines or post-infection immunity.

Yeah my nephew has ASD too. He had to take a test when his mother tested positive a few months ago. He was traumatised. Massively upsets him just seeing others get tested, as he's scared he will have to d it again.

I find it hard to believe that the school hasn’t said anything. Everyone I know has been sent several reminders. Most people may think ‘I wonder what the situation is going to be re Covid in school now’ of course, rather than complaining that people who don’t ever watch or listen to or read news can’t find anything out. Sweetheart.

And that’s fair enough. As I said, the problem is that is others have a similarly ‘whatever’ view, ‘it’s only advice’ then incidences of cases will rocket in that school and it will become far more dangerous for him and others in special circumstances.

I'm not having a go at anyone - but when my daughter went back to school I proactively looked in to what I need to do to make sure she is as safe as possible in school and, by association, so are the rest of my family. She's too young to test regularly, but my wife and I test at least weekly even though I work from home, I'll be honest though I don't always report my results. We test my daughter if she has symptoms, it's not easy. The school really should have made it clear though - is it a standard Welsh comp? If this has come as such a surprise where to you get your info about Bill Gates and vaccines from?

In fairness, my nephew wouldn't be taking the tests anyway, but if it's such a big thing, surely someone would have mentioned it from the school. Yeah it's a Welsh comp. I like Russell Brand. [Post edited 9 Sep 2021 13:48]

If they haven’t done what they are supposed to do they need to be reported. There is evidence that Covid is more dangerous to kids with ASD and the school need to be protecting kids in their care by making sure everyone is testing.

My brother has met all the teachers and is even in a Whatsappp group with them for regular contact. HE said they may be testing the older kids, but nothing mentioned about my nephew at all. He just text a friend of his who is a teacher at a secondary school in Llanelli. THey said: "the tests are voluntary and schools issue lateral flows to be completed every Sunday and Wednesday eve. They are not compulsory though." That still doesn't change the fact that my nephew's school still haven't mentioned about him having a test.
