Serious question, what the hell is the point in these? Look's like people who have had the vax, can still spread it, so I just why?
For me, it's looking more ridiculous each day, when they first mentioned it was at the time when they said the vaccine would stop the spread, but looking at the case numbers the last few weeks, this is clearly not the case, be quite silly not to be allowed to do something when there isn't any difference from someone who has had the jab or not. The thing is though, there’s only one secondary school in Llandeilo where you said your nephew goes. And on their website is a letter from the head saying that the school is using lateral flow testing. It also says that the parents or guardians of every child in year 7 (so starting there) is being sent details on how to take part in the testing. That was dated before this term started.

Considering we are 80% plus vaccinated, cases don't seem to be coming down, if anything they are getting worse

We (Wirral) are supplied tests from school. We have bi-weekly email reminders. At start of term (last week) all year 7 and 12 were tested at school. You can opt out, and some do, including my son as he suffers with ASD. My wife who is a Teaching Support Assistant, daughter and I all test 1-3 times each week. This is reality for now. It may change with more effective vaccines that reduce transmission more than the first generation, though 50% is not that bad, and higher levels of vaccines or post-infection immunity. |
The LA risk assessment for all East Sussex Secondary schools sets out that all pupils would take 2 LFTs within the first 7 days of the school year. Then kits are then sent home and and used voluntarily and the results are sent to the DfE.
Take up is incredibly high as it enables contact tracing when there’s a positive case and so keeps schools open to as many children as possible.
I’m never surprised when parents say they haven’t been told things. I’ll often get an aggressive email from one asking why they’ve never been told x, y or z. The majority of the time I just send back the two newsletters, email with read receipt, text message, Facebook post, Twitter post and school app notification which all show the necessary information…
