| Holloway knocks Steve Cooper for lack of fight on 09:22 - Sep 29 by Dr_Parnassus | Nope, you got that the wrong way around. Your comment came after my point regarding 80 points, not before it. I then agreed that yes promotion would indeed surpass it and I was referring to a non promotion season. You then replied that equaling it would be making the playoffs, which is now what this discussion is about after telling you that I don’t necessarily agree. Look for yourself:- So we have long established that we both agree promotion would top Coopers achievements. We are now discussing your comments regarding playoffs matching it - which is what I disagree with, for the reasons I stated. |
I only really had one point. If there’s something else you want me to discuss leave it with me and I’ll get back to you later.

I would have Quest's pundit team over the multi million pound narcissistic gigglers of the BBC any day. I like the way they bring in Lower league "specialist" trainspotter types that know josh Sheehan's passing stats of the top of their bald heads. Certainly no discrimination against 'baldies' on Quest.

I have no time for pundits of any kind, they often make glaring errors and are given script lines to make something of by producers surrounding what would be the most interesting topic of discussion as opposed to most insightful and impactful on the game. I have the feeds to all the matches without ad breaks, I have the studio and match cameras. The little some of them know about the game is frightening, you can tell that when they are asking their stats men questions to come up with the right graphics in the breaks. Half the time they don’t even seem to know who is on the pitch and in what position. The half time analysis on matches I record when I’m not at home most certainly gets fast forwarded, put it that way.

My only point was that if Russ gets us promoted he will have achieved more than Cooper. You said he had to gain more than 80 points to better Cooper. Your statement is factually incorrect. Which point that I haven’t made would you like me to discuss with you?

I agreed with you immediately. My comment that you replied to was regarding a non promotion season. I clarified that for you right away. Since then you have said play offs equals it. That’s the discussion. I am saying it depends on the season itself, and what happens if/when we get there. It’s not a difficult thing to understand. Anyway. That’s 4 points from 2 games for Cooper after today’s 3-1 away.

Cooper and Martin neck and neck after settling down in their ways. So who finishes higher Dr P by next May? Cooper or Martin.? Cooper has had a new season bounce for three consecutive seasons before a mid season slump and coming on strong after March. I am going for Martin to finish 8th and Cooper 10th.

Cooper is a fair bit ahead at the moment. Cooper is on 10 points from 4 games. 2.5 points per game. Martin is on 14 points from 12 games. 1.16 points per game. Overall football league record:- Cooper is on 1.70 ppg (78 point season equivalent) Martin is on 1.15 ppg (53 point season equivalent) Martin is currently going at his career average rate for us. That will have to lift considerably. As for next season, too far away to tell. But Cooper would be favourite if a market existed on who would finish higher, purely based on history.

What is your prediction for May 2022. Neck and neck at the moment. Your impressive analysis suggests you fancy Cooper to finish well ahead of Martin by the looks of it based on past performance. I believe Martin has much better players in Swansea compared to MK Dons and Martin is on an upward trajectory stats wise. What does you impressive back catalogue of data tell you will regard to the May 2022 Cooper v Martin finishing positions?.

I reckon Cooper will be ahead of Martin...Cooper plays to get results Martin plays to control possession. His stats at MK Don's show that Whilst I enjoyed our win on Sunday ....having watched the game twice over...nothing has changed my view that Martin is instilling into the players that possession is all important. There were many occasions where the ball didn't go beyond the width of the centre circle as we passed it sideways and backwards...there were occadopns when despite being 3 up we passed it back to Hamer from inside the Cardiff half.Cooper has got 10 points from his 4 games this season whilst Martin has 14 from 12 extrapolating that for the remainder of the season....means that based on current points per game Cooper could amass another 90 points to Martin's 42

It's extremely hard to compare us with Forest, the only change there is manager. Here we have the new manager and 9 new players. Even Forests caretaker manager got a win in his sole game in charge, Forest have a decent squad but Hughton couldn't get a tune from them. Cooper has undeniably done well thus far. Martin is playing catch up and, despite what some are saying, we have been improving, the signs have been there it's just that a few people want to knock whats happening, have no patience and/or still love Cooper. The change has happened, some people need to move on. Martin is our manager, maybe we should all just support him properly until he no longer deserves it?

yes Cat we are behind Martin yet comparisons will be made ironically our 3rd goal on Sunday was in the style of what people criticised Cooper of kicking the ball long into the channels.... I'm still not convinced Martin will deliver results despite controlling possession and giving us lots of passing..he has my support just as Bradley,Clement Kevin Cullis,c Colin Appleton as they were the managers of my club but that doesnt make him exempt from my critique...time will tell...but I also do not comply with this he needs time crap...as you say he has new players, players chosen to fit his style all season we have had high possession stats so he has made that change...but as we saw on Sunday we spend a lot of the time passing sideways and backwards....lets see how we do tomorrow I'll settle for a draw....

If you need further clarity just ask. ðŸ‘🻠|
I think the cooperboys value points above promotion . Never mind an extra 150 million plus in the clubs coffers let’s just stay in the championship and gaze at our navels…….. To them failure = success

I’m not sure what you mean by “neck and neck”. It seems you are comparing Forest to Swansea as opposed to Cooper to Martin. So you will have to clarify who we are comparing before I give an answer. As I said, Forest are neck and neck on points with Swansea, yes… but Cooper is ahead of Martin. One has a 2.5 point per game return, the other has a 1.16.

Points and promotion are extremely correlated. Not sure what you mean by valuing points over promotion. Promotion of course would be taken every day of the week over a higher points tally. But assuming we don’t get promotion, then the more points we amass the better. If not getting promotion after reaching the playoffs is “failure” then not getting to the playoffs must be a catastrophe.

I regard both clubs in similar positions. Good squads. One partly rebuilt after two successful seasons one re energised after missing out on a playoff 18 months ago. Cooper has Brennan Johnson one of the potential stars of the division and good strikers. Johnson might get sold in January. Until tonight on equal points. Both on an apparent upward trajectory. I have not looked on the bookies odds but perhaps they are currently evenly matched? Both managers are relatively inexperienced with Cooper a background in youth football and an extra season. Point rations over a handfull of games is indicative but his is a marathon. Which team do you think will finish higher in May 2022? I believe Cooper is having his early bounce seen in both his two seasons at Swansea. I like to think Martin's ways are more sustainable and long lasting. I believe Swansea will finish above Forest. Copper believes Forest was a better bet for him. Which club in your opinion will finish higher based on the tools and knowledge at your disposal? This will in my opinion give an indication as to the relative quality of the managers.
