Russia invade Ukraine 14:17 - Dec 23 with 152999 viewsFlynnidine_Zidownes

Discuss.

Also why is Putin always described in the media as this rugged strongman? He’s barely five foot tall with his high heels on.

But that’s another debate.

Interesting although not at all relevant but keep trying , Perhaps someone could tell Ivan that he's not performing as expected according to Hauptmann. Why when you see the air /anti tank strikes on them that they're neatly lined up on main routes one behind each other getting picked off , why not leave the roads and and go line abreast if they're that superior.

I have to agree, it appears that the Ruskies learnt nothing from the Iraq incursion in to Kuwait.
The Americans did exactly the same to their long columns of vehicles.

Russian tanks for the most part will cope with the task of moving off-road and in spring conditions. They are lighter than American and European tanks, designed specifically for the specifics of the Russian climate. The weight of the Russian main battle tank T-90, according to Hauptman, is 46 tons, and the US Army M1 Abrams tank weighs 54 tons. The German Leopard 2A6 generally weighs 62 tons.

Also, Hauptman notes, referring to the opinion of Dara Massicot, a senior researcher at the Rand Corporation, the Russian military is initially taught to fight in any weather. The exercises in the Russian tank units last all year round, so the soldiers are familiar with moving through the mud. A thaw can only stop Western tanks, Hauptmann concludes.

Do Russian ships for the most part cope with floating on water without suddenly bursting into flames?

Sounds like a design flaw to me.

You do realise that snow was on the ground prior to the 8th March

Anyone else quite amazed how well the Ukrainians are doing? Have they got western
Special forces in with them or what? All the generals they’ve taken out, now a Russian war ship.
Zelenki keeps saying they want all the old soviet states back, they can’t even take one half Russian country so what’s the worry? He’s all threats and BS Putin, as soon as the NATO sees through that ( prob have by now) we can all move on. Threaten him back, it’s the only thing he will notice…..

He also says Russian troops are taught to fight in any weather. Does he think other countries don't do this?

UK troops go to the Arctic, to Canada, they go to Kenya, the USA....they go lots of places to train in different weather conditions. it's not just the Russians that do this though maybe the Russians need to improve their training because it's not going so well for the much vaunted Russian army!

What does it convey? Freedom. A commemoration of casting off the foul communist yoke in Prague.

I see the weather forecast for parts of Ukraine until May is for heavy rain , that should slow down any tank movement . Rain and dirt = mud

The Russians will probably be hoping the heavy rain will help put out all the fires that randomly start on their warships.

I find it amazing that there is no video footage of the missile strikes on that ship.
After all it is a very important event in the war, they had a lot of people in the area and apparently 3 drones as well.
But no-one managed to capture the missiles hitting the ship and the subsequent explosions.
Perhaps they will eventually come to light.

This "expert's" opinion will be very unpopular on here.

But then he is only an ex military intelligence specialist who worked for the Swiss military, UN & NATO, so what would he know.

The thing is, he says in there that Ukraine was badly advised by NATO officers and that shows that even experts can be wrong.

So is he retired? Or why doesn't he work for them anymore? Does his opinion, which shows that experts can be wrong simply prove that he too could be wrong?

There is no doubt that lots of propaganda is coming from all sides BUT does any of it justify what Russia has done?

For the sake of that question lets ignore that all governments are dirty whether they be left, right or centre. They all use propaganda and tell lies.

I find it amazing that according to the Kremlin we are supposed to believe that a Russian warship with 500+ active seamen on board just spontaneously caught fire and sunk.

What would you say was more likely on the balance of probability?

Is sign of the times still going? That was a wretched hive of pseudoscience, alien nonsense and wild conspiracy theories 10 years ago. Used to read it just for a laugh. I suppose it’s in it’s element these days.

Wio had lots of people in the area?

It happened at night, 60 miles off shore in adverse weather conditions. There was mention of a storm which normally equates to low cloud cover. It’s reported there were drones distracting the ships radar, but my guess is they’d be a distance away as the Ukrainians aren’t going to risk losing the limited number of drones they have left, especially just to takes pictures.

Ukrainian sources were reporting the strikes on the ship around midnight on the day they happened well before anything came out from Moscow.

That is exactly the response I expected knock the source and not the information, experts count for nothing when bias is involved.
How many other links would you like to choose from?
Or of course you could just google it find them all for yourself.

The “expert” in question is currently flogging a book called “Putin: The master of the game.”

He’s also written a book about Navalny where he questions whether or not he was poisoned or whether it was staged.

He’s obviously a Putin fan boy. He’s giving interviews to strange conspiracy websites. How unbiased do you think he is?

Of course we knock the source when that source is shown to be questionable. Experts don't count for nothing but not all experts agree, they too have different opinions and some of them will be wrong.

Of course, a self proclaimed expert with no knowledge or experience of the agenda they are pushing does count for nothing.

Some of the links you have posted in the past have been to most untrustworthy and ridiculous sites ever. Then, you think the BBC are totally untrustworthy so that's an argument I can never win.

Apparently he "ticks all the boxes for a geopolitical conspiracy theorist".

AFD'S usual standard of expert. He is a little better than the 22 year old "Dr" from twitter he's previously quoted who must have started in university whilst still a foetus.

Good luck to him I say. There is of course huge money to be made in the conspiracy theory industry these days, with seemingly no end of imbecilic cockwombles ready and waiting to gobble this nonsense up without a moments hesitation.
