QPR v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 21/22 MATCHDAY ! 22:40 - Jan 22 with 9420 viewsNotLoyal

It’s another championship game this Tuesday. It’s a rescheduled game from a time when coughs and splurts were about. They still are about, like a thing that’s still here. The Jack Army are on the move again, all the way east until they get there, there will places further east when they arrive but that would mean not being there.

QPR v Swansea City : Form guides, Latest news & Expectations 24th Jan 2022 09:40
QPR v Swansea City is always a feisty game, and there has been some rivalry between the clubs over the years. What is also a fact is both sides don’t score a lot of goals and history this season clearly shows this. It’s a welcome return to midweek football under the lights in west London. 0

Austin should have got booked 10 mins earlier across the other side of the field, with his kick that nearly hit Manning in the chops. Downes was great tonight young lad not afraid to get in were it hurts, bottle aplenty, were was Grimes as his captain in telling him to calm down a tad as the game was going on, that's what gets me with Grimes he's not a captain

Its all about QPR back in the studio, talking absolute bolloks we had 12 shots to Qpr's 6, we had 5 on target they had 2, yet they are saying they had the better chances, Trundle as well, obviously running with the Hares and the Hounds there after more studio work,
[Post edited 25 Jan 2022 22:54]

They are talking crap in the studio going on about experience.
It is simple head working-cheating.Austin had his foot raised high and it just happened to be on Manning. Red cards have been given for that.

Charlie had the last laugh though and got Flynn a second yellow then red whilst he simply got a yellow. That is clever and also the work of a shitehouse to a fellow professional.

Im assuming Martin gave no warning to the lads as to what to expect from the likes of ol Charlie.

It was a fiesty game, was one of them games and you needed to control yourself rather than calling others to control it so don't think Grimes or Martin were to blame.

Downes is young and that fire is going to be needed and controlled by himself, there is a fantastic player there for sure.

They dont like Martin as they believe he is overated

Now you got that.

You can rest assure Winston has no interest in exchanging opinions. He has done what he does for over 10 years.

So no, I do not like Martin. Last time I checked, that's ok .Nobody injured or defamed in the making of that statement.

Our players can be looked after far better. Tonight a classic example.

A brave show but we need to sort out the last third play. Winston might have an opinion on that too.

Just to make it clear,I detested Cooper too.

He didnt seem to be bothered

Yawn.

Unfortunately there is a group who don't like Martin and will look at anything to have a pop.

Tonight was a good point.

Everybody I speak to is unsure about Martin at the moment, people who have been Swans fans for many years.
Lets be honest,he’s done nothing in the game up to now as a manager.
Let’s support him for this season,we,ll see,he’s not going anywhere,but next season………..

Downes is brilliant....he really is a top class player. You can see the confidence.....even with the pr@ck Austin...who was clearly frustrated by Downes...and spitefully wanted to send him off.

Downes is the business. Period.

Charlie is an old soldier. I d have loved us had him in our ranks a few year ago.

Downes should protect our players. He didnt tonight.

Laughable hindsight to suggest that Downes should have gone off. No doubt those bitching at RM for not doing it would be bitching at Martin if he had and we'd conceded a late winner due to FD not being on the pitch.

We had far more creativity with Downes thrusts forward, he needs to cool his heels though in games like tonight's, still young and he's intelligent enough to learn.

I know I'm stating the fecking obvious but we need more creativity to turn these games into 3 points. I'd be telling wolfie to put his trotters up and relax until Friday and then put him through some light training and let him loose on Saturday.

Can’t be disappointed with that … well I see some can.
Downes was a bit silly but I don’t mind it when a youngster sticks up for himself.
Really solid defence especially as the midfield could get nowhere. Grimes stood out tonight imo.
I saw some complain about Cabango's passing but when there is no one to pass to … QPR"s midfield was a step up from ours.
Hope Wolf's development speeds up.
Clean sheet, away point against 4th in the league. Good job.

Fair points, you'll have to forgive me for my out burst's, I got emotional watching that tonight, Ref again was eager to get the yellows out against, but slower for them, imo.

I honestly thought Cabango was going to get a second yellow and felt RM should have subbed him for Bennett.
Austin played Downes and he fell for it, hook line and sinker.
He needs to put it down to experience and learn from it

Replacing Cabango for Bennett would have been suicide.

Easy to be wise in hindsight but it was clear to many that Downes needed to be taken off after the first incident with Austin involving Manning.
He was already on a yellow.
Downes was treading on thin ice after that.
Austin clearly was intent on getting Downes sent off.
RM got it wrong by not bringing Downes off sooner as it was waiting to happen.
Mistakes happen though and its not the end of the world.
Downes can now have a rest on Saturday ready for Luton next week.
Matches are now coming thick and fast and players will need to be rested at certain points.

May be a good opportunity to start Fulton and see what he’s capable of unless Korey gets the nod to drop deeper

Worse than playing most of the second half with 10 men ?
As it was, Cabango did keep his cool, although with that ref, he could have picked up a second yellow

Downes was unlucky, not sure what happened as it wasnt clear but my guess is that there was a running diatribe with both having a go from early doors. Looked like Austin backed in with shall i say a arm then spun and held on to Downes. Not much you can do about that as a player except learn from it. RM must tell him to back off in that position, as even a young Austin wouldnt have damaged us from there.

As for posters saying he should have been subbed they havent got a clue.

Downes is a leader but disappointed he got so wound up.
Granted Austin is an old sweat and to get a fellow pro sent off is pretty reprehensible.

Downes is a key player for us .

Good point last night, but can't help but feel it could have been all three. Here are my observations anyway:
1. For the love of god, don't fiddle around with the back 6 (Hamer included) unless absolutely necessary. We actually look solid again, and we all remember what happened last time we changed the defence for no obvious reason (Looking at you, Rhys Williams!)
2. We are criminally short of pace and trickery up top. There were a number of occasions, particularly first half, where we got through their midfield and on top of their defence but had nobody to beat a man or get in behind them.
3. Related to the above, we miss Paterson. End of story. Frankly I don't give a crap about what has allegedly gone on, he has been involved in 50% of our goals and without him we look significantly less dangerous. Just sort it out.
4. Again related to point 2, we desperately need an attacking lwb. I like Lati but I physically cringed when we played sweeping diagonals over to our lwb in acres of space, our most advanced player at times, only to remember he is essentially a centre half.
5. Get Fulton involved. Unless he's personally fallen out with Martin or desperately wants to leave, it is absolute madness that we want rid of him. He is 10x the option behind the striker Smith will ever be. I genuinely believe he'd be a great signing for any championship club outside the top 2.

What is good
Hamer vastly upped his game
Cabango proving to be a rock
Naughton -Naughton looking composed and cool
Christie.Excellent and one our owners should be looking to sign. Just do it.
Downes.A class above
Grimes.Just Grimes

Wolf ...came straight in with no training and did ok in first then thrust striaght in and lasted most of the game.

Piroe often alone does a good job and better of he had more support

Less of the pretty pretty stuff and more actually attacking the opposing goal keeper. We have the players but not the strategy and that is down to the coach.

Passing stats are meaningless

OHL, i dont get why Hamer is starting?
I dont get why Cabango is being isolated on the wing, a good example of this was when they turned the ball around the corner quickly last night a few times ala JONJO.
Naughton is a class act.
I thought Christie has played well and agree we need to look at signing.
Downes learnt a lesson hopefully.
Matt Grimes is still a class act which every team needs.
Wolf, will improve as he gets it.
Again i agree the pretty stuff needs now and then to be changed up asPiroe needs to be slipped in the channel a bit more imho with a quick ball.

But i still think with the addition of Pace and pace we will be a very good team.

I find it staggering that we had to pay £400,000 for a keeper to make Hamer up his game.

It is madness.
Its another reason Im not a Russ boy
Hamer has had some howlers and clearly being hammered by Martin to play this ridiculously risky way at the back.
He s a decent stopper. Benda was an ok sub
This money could have paid for what we really need;a player who can really finish moves that look pretty but dont really threaten.

Pretty soon,Martin will have a pyssed off Fisher to content with.
