Is there a way ‘forwards’ from this for Russell Martin ? 2nd Feb 2022 13:29
The first of seven February championship games was played last night at the swansea.com stadium. The boo’s at the end were predictable as was the strategy chosen for the game. Yes there was a clear formation change but the game plan seemed as it always is. 0

100% there is a way forward.
Keep to the 4/5/1 and keep to the football, keep the passing. We need to have a bit more width where the Wingers will help obviously.

There is a bad feel at the club and on top of that the confidence is low on the pitch. The yanks have pulled the Jan window stunt and the worse possible time here, if we had another 2 new faces in last night, especially in the final 3rd then there would have been a better feel ftom the off last night.

We need a spark and the crowd have a big part to play on it, easy to knock but we have a big part to play.

Let's give them that support and let the knockers do so in front of their tvs, laptops, phones or whatever they use to watch the games.

Why does eternal faith in the manager make you more of a fan?
Everyone here supports Swansea City as a football club. We are not here because we specifically support RM, or we are big fans of the yanks. But, because we support the club.
Some people see that as supporting everything the club does and some see it as wanting to comment when they see things they think could be better.
Neither way is better than the other.

It’s a tricky one……….
He hasn’t had the backing in the window he would have liked but look where we are, would you back him at the moment ?
From the outside it looks a mess, (Patterson situation) among others !
This month will test the patience of everybody I feel with the fixtures we have coming, and the way we are playing………
We will see……….

If he wants players to take risks then he needs to drop Grimes and Smith and play 2 up front.

This is not entertainment (bearing in mind I wasn't there last night) and it has become slow, predictable and boring. The person responsible for all this is the manager, he can change things but will he?

Thought Grimes looked great set pieces apart last night, Smith is a worker, but not a forward/attacking thinking player.

On Obafemi I think he was unlucky, they go in or they don't he was at pace and he got a foot to the ball, he's still a young Kid, play him and the goals will come, he's not a Salah [even he misses and better chances at that] and probably never will be a Salah.

I don't think it does, I just feel that we as supporters should be supporting him. He is a young manager and he is in his early oath as a manager. Things are not good at present but I have seen enough to suggest that he can take us in the right direction.
Neither way is better fully agree there, neither way is correct at this stage and we won't fully know until the paths end.

daps, I shall do what I've always done, support the team when at the stadium and save my moaning for on here.
I want Martin to succeed but I don't see it happening, specially as now he seems to have been let down by the owners, fancy pulling the plug on agreed deals. Martin must be feeling a bit let down too, I'd have thought.

The next home game will be interesting, lets see how many stick with him and how many have the knives out straight from kick off. What was it like last night, was there much discontent?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

No not really, the talk was more of the failings from the board.

There were boos at the final whistle but was it aimed at the performance or just the build up of frustration from losing and the failures in the Jan transfer window?..i would say from being there the latter.

The stadium was very flat from the 1st minute.

Like I said, I wasn't there last night, because of work. I haven't seen any highlights either.

Grimes does have good days but far too often he slows things down when we need an instinctive pass. I will also criticise him for his set pieces, he's supposed to be our best player according to some.

I will also agree with whoever it was who asked what do we do in training, why are our set pieces so bad? Are we spending all our time playing triangles?

I was working away so can’t really comment on his performance last night but one good game in 10 or 20 isnt enough. He’s no leader - maybe I’d see a difference if the captaincy was handed to someone else.

We need a captain who’s going to drive the team forward and hold them together in difficult times. It’s not his thing and I’d never criticise him for that. Not every player is captain material.

I’ll also say in balance that we don’t have many real leaders on the pitch apart from Downes and Naughts

Grimes did well Wed and was driving the team forward, I have been critical of Grimes but Tuesday he can't be blamed for.

From the start there was a lull in the ground and that had a big part to play in it. I think the game came to quick after the close of the transfer window.....the window was the main talk going intoand out of the ground.

The stadium was flat to for the Preston game...and there was still hope for the transfer window then.

I’ve just watched the extended highlights and fair play Grimes pushed a superb pass through to Obafemi who had his effort saved. If he can make this kind of contribution more consistently no arguments from me.

There was a cracking forward run from Downes too which resulted in a chance. I hope Martin sees the difference in having his midfielders driving forward - it’s the only way we’re going to drag ourselves out of this awful position we’re in.

A mention for Wolf who looks like he’s finding his feet , Cabango, Obafemi, Christie and Manning too.

There were positives Tuesday for sure but there were also negatives.

My concern was how easy they got past our full backs, Christie is not totally match fit and Manning has not been played at left back for some time. I would certainly stick with a back 4 especially with this new left back arriving.

Downes and Grimes have to stay as the 2 in midfield with Ntcham/Paterson in the 10 role. Out wide we have to persist with Wolf, Manning and Paterson... I must stress that I thought Wolf although not totally fit played well on Tuesday and will be an asset this season considering. There is the option with Christie right wing as Naughten can play Right back although I would have him centre half alongside Cabango.

Piroe with Obafemi second fiddle as the strikers.

Keep that shape and playing football, get the confidence back and there is certainly hope.

Indeed
How Perch has the cheek to post about supporting on here when he bothers to attend one or two matches a season.
I could understand if he was living in North of Scotland or outside the UK for example, but being in Liverpool, there are plenty of games within his reach.
Same here mate pay my money, go to a good percentage of games, so feel entitled.

I get that some fans can't go but I do get that posters on here that don't go are very patronising and seems to be an underlying vibe of anger in them.

He lives miles away, it doesn’t make someone a better fan because they live within walking distance of a stadium and go to watch in person.

He is as entitled to his opinion as anyone else.

I know people who were season ticket holders in the Premier League who couldn’t give a damn about the club, never went before and have stopped going now.

Going to watch means nothing.

When have I ever said about my fantastic loyalty then?

If somebody doesn’t go to games, doesn’t have a season ticket, doesn’t contribute in any shape or form to the club how can they call them self a supporter?

Sitting in front of an illegal stream and shouting “C’mon the Swans” perhaps?

I find the Troll reference rather ironic.

Do you support the notion that you should not be violent to women?

If so, I assume you attend the conferences, go to all the awareness days and buy merchandise to support the cause?
