| DVLA and similar organisations on 09:03 - Mar 18 by JACKMANANDBOY | What I don't understand from the facts is how people were put on full pay and not expected to work when they could be working from home. It does not take too much effort these days to set up remote working? |
Some of my family are working from home for the DVLA ? Also Swansea and Carmarthenshire council staff working from home. Sounds a typical Dail Mail type story

Run by a bunch of lefties- fact. Back to work or find another job.

I suspect there may be some DVLA staff especially of a younger age that do not agree with the militancy because it could come back to haunt. It's 1970's thinking for some though, and that type of thinking ended up robbing and denying future generations employment prospects . The likes of 'Red Robbo' did nothing for the working class.

Any company that can run it better than the civil servants currently running it who have 2 years to sort out a more efficient way of running since the pandemic started.

You will be paying more for an even worse service. That is privatisation in a nutshell.

Yes, just away of passing yet more money to Tory pals. I am old enough to remember contracts for Ferry crossings being given to a Tory pals company who had - you have guessed it - no ships. Bent.

Private firms are always more efficient and cheaper than overstaffed government organisations. Private firms have to be efficient to survive. Government organisations are run badly.

Something needs to be done. Yes privatisation maybe the only option to weed out the malingering staff. Talk about shooting yourselves in the foot.

| DVLA and similar organisations on 11:35 - May 5 with 1265 views | felixstowe_jack | Congratulations to the DVLA my new 10 year driving licence arrived today in 3 working days since my application. Fortunately I could apply for it online with all my details checked electronically as I entered them. Plus they used my passport details and passport photo to check my identity. Thankfully no human intervention was needed at the DVLA and no doubt it was printed and posted automatically. One added bonus it is emblazoned with UK DRIVING LICENCE AND THE UNION FLAG. No sign of that silly blue flag and stars from the EU. | |

| DVLA and similar organisations on 17:58 - May 6 with 1164 views | BryanSwan | It's funny how there are so many on here crying out for everything to be privatised. As that has clearly worked out so well previously and even currently the ongoing privatisation of the NHS is a great success. Public services have been underfunded for years, simple tactics to cause faux outrage and get those with fewer brain cells to agree that it should be privatised, something that is not in their own best interests. | |

The DVLA staff have only themselves to blame, and please don’t tell me they didn’t take the pi$$ during covid.

Its funny that the staff get the blame, think most organisations at the minute are performing either the same or better since introducing wfh. The issue is not with them, they are handed outdated systems and pretty below par management. Theyve barely had any staffing increases in years and in the case of the DVLA there are a whole load more drivers than there were 10 years ago. More work and the same number of staff, can see where the problem is there.

Most of the day to day operations at the DVLA you can do online and are fully automated and required no human intervention. The problems arise when paper work is required that is a job that cannot be done from home. The same applies if you have to ring them not enough staff to answer the phone.

Sadly some (not all union members/employees!) have given the government and lesser union sympathetic come lesser restrained journalists the perfect excuse to go on the warpath. Many of streetwise nature knew that it would end up like this. Quote: "The DVLA in Swansea is a well-documented basket case, with fewer than 20 per cent of employees on deck at any one time. All efforts to enforce normal, pre-pandemic working have met with entrenched resistance from the unions. This week the leader of the First Division Association, which represents top civil servants on six-figure salaries, launched a preposterous attack on Jacob Rees-Mogg’s characteristically courteous efforts to persuade his members to go back to work full-time. Dave Penman protested on behalf of his members currently enjoying ‘hybrid’ working that it is ‘not efficient to be paid £150,000 a year to wander round offices’. He clearly has no conception of how ridiculous he sounds. Or what the job description of a manager actually is.". [Post edited 12 May 2022 22:31]

Doesn't that ecb flunky from next door work there ? Says it all - the way that bloke conducts himself on public forums speaks volumes. How an earth non-entities like that get away with it is a joke. Clearly uneducated, worked his way up from the mail room to supervisor, but all the same a sad indictment on the pubic sector. A blot on our landscape(s). In so many ways.

It's staggering how many of the people at the very top have been so oblivious of what was the likely repercussion of their actions. Ruining it for other co-workers and future generations by the looks of it! The ecb along with his sycophantic No2 once disrespected my praise on here for NHS staff who were about to face the Covid storm. That said it all to me! Perhaps he and spiteful likeminded should have stood and witnessed the moving tribute from all the grieving staff assembled outside Morriston Hospital for a much loved overseas recruit whom lost her battle against that horrid disease.

What goes around comes rotund, as they say. I shall do some digging, establish some facts about the rotund one....... Bullying is an unacceptable trait, here there and everywhere. Do you have a mug shot ?
