| What the point in this new Swansea City revolution ? on 15:12 - Mar 28 by Dr_Parnassus | Liverpool and Man City both play 4 at the back and wingers. Grealish, Sterling and Mahrez with support from Cancelo and Walker. Mane and Salah with support from Robertson and Trent. We don’t play anything like either, despite constant references to both. We have no width, no pace, play high full backs, slow CB’s, multiple holding midfielders and now two up front. It’s bizarre. The road to nowhere if you will, as we see most weeks. |
A perfect sum up. | | | |

| What the point in this new Swansea City revolution ? on 10:36 - Mar 28 by onehunglow | We will hemorrhage money if he stays and the signs are there already with many looking not to renew STs. IMO,it is essential we get rid as soon as we are mathematically safe. I honestly believe he i corrosive and is damaging quality players and also that clubs will no longer be keen to loan us players. I cant see how we did much for Rhys Williams and we aren't for Burns. It begs the question why sign them and not play them. These are young players and they must be so disillusioned . |
Wasn’t the revolt by season ticket holders supposed to happen 2021/2?. I agree Williams and Burns haven’t been played but imo they haven’t shown they were ready for this league! But Christie, Laird and Wolf are / were a success. 3 out 5 is a decent success rate. Cooper loaned in but didn’t play Morris and Arriola. Guehi took a more than 20 games before he was comfortable, arguably the only real success. Woodman kept his place but many would say he didn’t deserve to, Gibbs- White was injured. Gyökeres, Hourihane, Palmer all had a few good moments but were generally poor We have a dozen players on loan … few are playing regularly or progressing. It’s the nature of the loan system.

I see references to “the Swansea way” too quite often. That also was 4 at the back, Rangel and Dyer on one side and Taylor/Davies and Sinclair/Routledge on the other. The key players were a certain profile. Width is the key ingredient when a team plays possession football otherwise it becomes to predictable and pedestrian going through the middle. Take WBA for example. We played 75 mins playing the boring Martin way… 15 mins left we stick Ntcham out wide, expose their space left by their press and we score two carbon copy goals from quick direct football with width. Almost every goal we score is when we ditch his obsession and go direct and wide or direct and central to utilise Obafemi’s pace. We ditch it, get the goals - then people say “see it worked”, completely oblivious to the tactical desertion of the style they claim works. I can never get my head around it. Morning. Wolf is hardly ripping up trees and Laird started ok but then went off the boil. Christie has been decent. As regards William and Burns,my whole point is why bring them in at all. It is pointless bringing in kids if they are not ready.

| What is the point in this new Swansea City revolution ? on 11:37 - Mar 29 with 849 views | Lorax | Hmmm, after 7 months of watching this, I don't see it as negativity, I see it as a statement of opinion about what I see on the pitch on a matchday. We made some progress, then lost ground and that pattern has been repeated with us ultimately making very little forward progress across the 7 months. I suppose I can say we are very good at keeping possession though we are not so good at doing anything constructive with it, as our league position shows. If we're going to liken it to a journey I reckon a better comparison is saying we are trying to get to Newcastle but we seem to be heading to Hartlepool! The driver is loudly claiming we are in Grainger town when the signpost says Seaton Carew. This new direction may turn out Ok with the right investment (assuming we can afford it) and of course, not selling on the players we have now that are so important to us. We HAVE to keep Downes, Piroe, Ntcham and Obafemi...ok Paterson too. If we end up selling Downes to Leeds it could trigger other players wanting to leave and I still think retaining Piroe could be an uphill battle. Time will tell, maybe the driver will make the right turn in the end, maybe the quality of the passengers wiil improve, maybe we just need to call the RAC to change the fanbelt? We will see though, time WILL tell. One day maybe we can look back at all this and say with certainty who was right, who was wrong | | | |

It’s regression. 37 games gone. First 19 games Points: 27 (1.42 points per game) Goals Scored: 24 (1.26 scored per game) Coals Conceded: 22 (1.15 conceded per game) Next 18 games Points: 21 (1.16 points per game) Goals Scored: 17 (0.94 scored per game) Coals Conceded: 22 (1.66 conceded per game) That’s not even a small decline, it’s pretty drastic. So if you set off for Newcastle and look out the window and you find ourself on the outskirts of Copenhagen, I think genuine and serious questions need to be asked. [Post edited 29 Mar 2022 12:16]

Good PR speak thats all that is The stats indicate we are going backwards ,the football is dire to watch Im fed up of hearing about Martins late appointment and lack of preseason ...Wilder, Heckingbottom and Cooper all arrived at clubs later than Martin had no preseason or input to players yet have turned around poor performing teams and are now knocking on the door of promotion. There is talk of additional players it has been pointed out that only 3 of this seasons starting line up where "regulars" under Cooper so this "revolution" and reprogramming players is all nonsense. Martin's style and philosophy will not deliver winning football the focus is on keeping the ball as he did at MKDOns, this time next season nothing much will have changed. Allen isn't going to come out and say we dont believe in MArtin is he? Much has been said on here about how the club cannot afford to sack him. As has been said and done to death we need to play with 4 at the back and wingers which means a radical overhaul ....or why cant Martin like other "successful" managers use the resources he has to best effect that is find a system to suit his players rather than players to suit his system? MKDons have "ditched" the obsession with possession and are flying high ..doesnt that say something. Look at this our U23s playing the Swansea Way not Martinball 10 passes in total I think from our byeline to a goal....thats the difference.. https://www.facebook.com/hasht We know MArtin is here to stay but surely cant people see how this squad is capable of so much more....there is quality here in Downs, Paterson, Natchm, Obafemi,Piroe , Christie,Naughton, GRimes but we struggle. As you know I called MArtin out early doors and since he has shown even more he is not capable. I get it we all want him to succeed....this "Swansea Way" there has never been a prescribed version we have had managers who want us to play football we have been graced with players over the years like Ivor, Mickey Conway, Curt, Robbie,Ian Callaghan ( who I witnessed hoofing the ball at times when under pressure) Leighton James,Trundle, Sinclair,Dyer, Rangel players good on the ball but at times the ball was sent upfield or skywards....there was alsways a sense of whne and what to do. We have had managers whose football was dull and uninspiring and often the managers were working with what we could afford especially late 80s and early 90s. Many keep referring back to those days to "remind us where we came from" yet since 2007 we were on an ascendancy culminating is spending 7 seasons in the PL...during which time we mostly held our own until the last 3 seasons...so we should have better expectations plus be better equipped than the last time we fell out of the top division. I see the club speak but we are going backwards not improving which by now we should be. I dont know about Newcastle for me we are still going around the roundabout at the M5 end of the M50

How much patience is required? An infinite amount? Does having patience mean you cannot appraise performances and trajectory along the way? Improvements? Decline in performance? Or is the request that we watch for years on end and be happy regardless of what we see? It’s a massive cop out to suggest that it doesn’t matter how we perform after spending millions and millions. We aren’t stupid and have supported the club through various eras of football. We didn’t need years on end to see results from any of our successful managers and they had nothing like the spending power we have had this season. What is it about Martin that means things take years? And even then it’s not anything close to guarantee. What if Bob Bradley said “give me 3 years without any judgement and then you can see where we are”. Would you have said “aye fair play, 7 months of dross but im sure you’ll work it out Bob”. Nah neither would I. People were talking “10 games before judging” at the start. It’s now been 7 months and we have gone backwards despite him bringing in almost a new starting XI. These people are now talking in years such is the lack of any sort of progress. It’s madness. Cult like madness.

Indeed, a very large cop out. If that’s the attitude then no player or manager should ever be sacked/dropped again. Same philosophy, patience. Ironic he’s asking for patience yet showed none with Williams who he brought in from Liverpool… amongst others. [Post edited 30 Mar 2022 10:44]

I didn’t say he brought others in. I mentioned players such as Williams (who he brought in from Liverpool) among others. Players. If we have to show him patience when he’s performing badly then why don’t we (he) show the same philosophy to them?

Burns did not seem overwhelmed with joy when receiving his framed Swansea shirt from Alan Curtis the other day. Players who come down a level need a particular mindset. Brewster, Gallagher Guehi had it, Williams and perhaps Burns see it all as a bit a of chore and may not be willing to fight for a place in the team. Martin has to deliver next season. If performances are the same Mr Allen will uncouple and press for changes in the coaching set up initially.

He should have delivered this season too. He was extremely lucky we don’t have the finances to pull the trigger.
