A three year contract for an u23s goalkeeper is brave. Didn't see any of him during his trial. I imagine we're bringing in another one at that level given how short we are. Only two u18s and one of those hasn't played in over a year. A decent one in the new scholars but a long way to go from there. | | | |

Arsenal under eighteen goalkeeper Remy Mitchell is set to join Swansea City on a three year deal after discussing terms over the last week. He isn’t seen as direct competition with Andy Fisher or Steven Benda but more as a first choice at reserve level. The swans have released three goalkeepers this week, and with only Lewis Webb as a serious contender in reserve Remy will be seen as a replacement for Nico Defreitas-Hansen who disappointed after signing from Everton.

This is the way forward under Martin though, isn't it? This is what the owners want, we bring in young players, improve them, sell for a large profit, rinse and repeat; that's the grand plan isn't it?
To do that needs bravado because keeping it going is VERY hard work. it takes a lot of investment in the right areas and a reliance on very smart scouting. Scouts that good will get pinched by the big money clubs eventually so we need to keep scouting new scouts too.
If it works, if Martin's vision can actually succeed then we are headed upwards, until a big money club comes calling because in the end the money always wins. | | | |

What is a concern is the 'schism' about what the scout sthink is a good player and what martin thinks is suitable for his squad. Long contracts were given to Benda, Ollie and Brandon Cooper Cullen Whittaker and Garrick but none appear to be in the manager plans apart fro Ollie perhaps. |  |

Read that QPR are very much interested in this kid, big things were expected of him a few years ago but he hasn't progressed as much as they would have hoped.
The plan too sign younger players released by remier league clubs, players who were unlucky to be released or like this boy.... players who have not quite kicked on was a plan brought in prior to Martin joining.
Its an interesting plan, a plan with little financial risk. |  |
