I think Labour have been hoping Sunak gets it. A failed Chancellor who lied time and time again when backing Johnson. Liars always get floored in the end.

I'm not so sure. I havent watched it but I read the BBC website write up. Sunak doesn't come off well for me. Truss is offering tax cuts and the Tory old guard may not like that but there are many outside the blue rinsed buffoons who will like the sound of green levies being cut to try and help the cost of living. Sunak is coming across, well, just wrong. he loves to throw his daughters in. I dont care about his daughters. I care that under him we have been heading towards the highest tax burden in over 70 years which, combined with inflation and the cost of living is creating a perfect storm that is crippling families.

Any Tory candidate,EVERY Tory candidate would be posh/scum/entitled,bully,blue rinse, oldies etc etc. What annoys me about Tories is their insouchiance and patronising of those they perceive as misguided or misled. We don't need a nice guy/woman either.

We definitely need electoral reform. We cannot continue to stumble on with FPTP.

| Rishi v Liz on 10:27 - Jul 26 with 2339 views | gadgetuk | I have no issue with a persons background, it's good to be well educated, I would say it's critical if you are the leader of a country. I do think that it's important to also understand the value of things, and if you are born into a life of privilege you are unlikely to do so. I don't like Rishi, I don't think he has any idea about how people struggle and apart from 2 years as chancellor, what experience does he have to be PM? Liz Truss whilst coming from a more working class upbringing seems to be ashamed of the fact. Neither of them look to be fit to lead | | | |

“An entitled bully?” I’ve just heard that claim being made, more or less, by James O'Brien; although I think he was doing it as more of a talking point without any real conviction. I had sympathy with Sunak, he was clearly becoming exasperated by the empty head opposite him. Politics despite the clowning on the national stage we’ve had to endure IS a serious business that has a direct bearing on all our lives. It ought to be the last place where fools are suffered gladly. If Sunak doesn’t come through it will be a travesty, the prospect of Truss at 10 Downing Street is a disaster in waiting.

Both of them strike me as incredibly dangerous. Truss because she is almost impressively dense and Sunsk because he is not. Truss looks to be the Tory favourite so far based on all of her ludicrous promises to the upper classes.

| Rishi v Liz on 11:29 - Jul 26 with 2281 views | YrAlarch | My God! Sunak gave Boris 10 out of 10. Reminded me of that Labour Party idiot who gave Corbyn 10 out of 10 for his performance in the last General Election. I don't think Sunak will win the blue rinse vote because he is not white. I have been assured of this by a Tory supporting racist acquaintance. | | | |

Yet Truss has been offering instant tax cuts which the tory members apparently don't like. I haven't chnaged, if it's a choice between one of these 2 and Starmer, I'd choose Starmer though I will probably (yet again) vote for neither tory ir labour. I'll go with whatever is the best choice for me locally. Nationally I don't see much changing whoever gets in. I could be selfish about it, look at the promised tax cuts and say take the short term Truss (until the GE) and risk the inflationary spiral Sunak says she'll cause (it's spiralling anyway) but Sunak looks the less dangerous of the two.

| Rishi v Liz on 12:05 - Jul 26 with 2243 views | union_jack | I saw Kay Burley interviewing David Davis this morning. He’s a Sunak supporter and she put it to him that in the debate last night (which I didn’t see) he was ‘mansplaining’. Not being a Sunak supporter I thought, go on Davis, answer that one. And he did. He said that when he had debates with Cameron, he could be robust but was never accused of anything similar. And of course, he’s right. No allowance should be made because Truss is a woman. She wants the highest office in the land so has to negotiate these moments. No-one did it to Thatcher! | |

Truss has apparently got around 54% of members support. I don't remember where I saw it, I was reading an online news feed which brings up stories from many different sources. Again apparently, tax cuts won't affect a lot of the memberships (so much) who are already well off and possbly older and retired. These are people who are already OK despite everything. They don't mind the Hoi Polloi being taxed to the hilt.
