This in buckets and spades, some people will say the stupidest things purely because they don't like someone, look at the Anti Trump brigade for example haha
Why doesn't a prem club buy them on the cheap and then loan them out to a championship club!?
I would say 1-2m is far less a risk to paying 12M + after 1 season in the Champ.

As you say its Martins 4th season in management , we have had other "rookie" managers in the past who in their 4th season had led us though successive promotions, ending up in the old Div1
Another who took us to within a whisker of the play offs in his first season then got us promoted as champions in his second season picking up several Manager of the Month awards along the way.
Another rookie manager who took us to 6th and the play offs in his first season of senior management and then to the play off final in his second season.
Martin must be a Svengali the way he has posters defending him...he has yet to finish higher than 12th in any league.....borrowing something pointed out by a poster on PS we fininshed 14th last season with a side that included a midfielder just sold for £12M and two strikers being valued at around £10M.
He needs to ensure we have 17 points at the 10 point mark.....that shows the "process" is working
But only one led us to the doube

One season and one game in, and the negative posters abound. Martin has done well with the likes of Piroe, Obafemi and Downes and based on last week Fisher, Wood and Darling. Yet some will give him no credit and cannot wait for him to go. Would be lovely if they got been the club - and that includes the manager and all the players
not negative but objective it was ok for posters to be negative about our previous manager. this clip us pure Martin pr what has his system delivered in terms of achievementTosh took us from the 4th tier to the top tier in 4 seasons what has Martin achieved in 4 seasons this talk of how he has turned Downs Ovafemi and Piroe Piroe into mega stars is exaggerated I will find the post of Resolvens where he eulogies over Piroe having score 4 goals v Germany after it was first mooted we were signing him the guy has what it takes he just needed the tight environment and platform same with Downes he impressed for Ipswich against us when we threw the game away under Potter.

"Defend your box with mentality” is a prime example of someone telling someone to do something without the ability to tell them how."
Exactly Doc. Obviously, he was a pro, so he had the tools to be useful in the professional game. I will give him credit for a good career...
...but it doesn't mean you possess the skill of being able to teach.
I think the best coaches are ex-players (whether that be pro or semi-pro, it doesn't seem to matter) who did not rely on their physical attributes when they played.
Players who were thinkers. Players who are having an intelligent conversation with themselves in their head as they play. The anticipators. Those who make those around them play better by pulling the strings and leading them. Those who work out their own weaknesses and find ways to compensate for them. Those who work out their opponents weaknesses during the game, in real time, and have the nous to work out how to exploit those weaknesses. The canny. The players with the vision to play killer balls...as this involves an appreciation of the whole picture during the game. Those who see the danger developing and consistently make correct defensive decisions.
These people can take a bunch of athletes with great physical attributes and give them the piece that they are missing, improving them as footballers by teaching them to be engaged mentally...
If you have ex-players who rely on their pace, strength, ability in the air, finishing ability etc. as managers...they tend to be people who aren't thinking deeply about the game.
I have no idea how Russell Martin was as a player, I don't remember him, so can't pass judgement...but that video above shows somebody who is incoherent and poor at expressing his ideas. I am not fooled by the shine of the teeth as he smiles or the pretentious language of a 'Guardian' reader in his interviews.
So, from a video clip lasting 1-48 minutes you can basically rip a coach to pieces without knowing his background playing experience. Quite Cadleigh(SCFC2) esc.

So why did super coach do what he did?
Russ spends a lot of time of the extrinsic when he should be concentrating on the intrinsic. Cullen is simply a mystery.Really a case of a lad not being cut out for this level of football. Its not his fault though.

As a wake up call to Piroe, the old fashioned giving him a kick up the rear.

Because their squads would be full of prospects and it wouldn’t be cost effective.
If they buy 7 players at £1.5m each, that’s £10.5m, plus signing on fee, agent fees and you are looking at £15m, then you have to pay them for the length of their contract, let’s say £15000 a week x 7 = £105k a week x 156 = £16.38m.
£16.38m + £15m = £31.38m.
That’s without then having to manage them into squads, keep them happy etc
Or you could wait to see which one is good and just pay £10m for him and concentrate you other money on first team transfers.

7 is an unrealistic amount though for one team.
How many talents from league 1that was worth a gamble from last season. Darling Mcnally Twine
Twine was a ridiculous amount but surely a prem club would take a gamble on one
1.5m fee at 15k a week. 2.28M! Throw him out for a season with a championship club which at 15k aweek could be easily covered wage wise. If he does superb then he is part of the squad the following season. If he does OK but not up to it then you surely get the fee back by selling. If he has a bad season, sending him back on loan is the next option.
If he goes out on loan then it works out peanuts in comparison to a premier league side.

Whether its 7 for one team or 7 spread over 7 teams, it makes no difference.
If not all make it then you are wasting money, this is the point. Loads of players are worth a gamble from League 1 and 2. The likes of Max Waters for example was chased by both us and Cardiff for £1m if he managed to take the step and bang them in at Championship level, then the EPL would come in for £10m.
It’s how it works.

This is the best case scenario re Martin: We do ok first ten games, not great not bad. His myth of being a decent up and coming young coach continues. Norwich have 5 points and sack Smith. Norwich pay us handsome compensation for him and his huge backroom team and they all go there. We then get someone who knows what they’re doing.

We could be 14th after 10 games and those saying to give him 10 games will still be happy, or pretending to be. One or the other.
But I agree with you.

I guess it worked.
Yet another whooosh moment for flaps.
Piroe was rejected by Martin - deemed not good enough. Wouldn't cut it for Martin's allegedly sophisticated 'system / process / wang'
Nothing to do with attitude.
You've been told this over and over daps. Get a grip and start taking on board the proper schooling you've been proffered by far more qualified posters.
Back on topic - Martin's coaching has to be worst, ever.
Pro free speech and alternative opinions -
Anti gang-bullying and poor modding thereof -
Will always make a stand against those who consistently choose to turn a blind eye

makes you think what sort of manager he really is to adopts strategy based on tiring the opposition on a season when half of the outfield players can be replaced with fresh legs

Can imagine someone pointing this out to him 10 minutes before the QPR match and him going ‘doh, forgot about the subs’
