There is an an article on the BBC reporting that we cannot compete with the majority of clubs in our League.
States we have to do things a different way.
I thought I read something on here recently that stated we have the 7th or 8th biggest budget in the division.

I'll tell you what I don't epect, Keith, I don't expect the manager to start spouting this crap because it really does sound like he's getting his excuses in early.
Last season we nearly all gave him leeway as he talked about having no preseason (and other things) but this season the excuses need to stop.
If we don't see genuine improvement this season then all those calling foul will start to look very right. Is Martin a deent manager, a manager who can only put a team together if big money is spent or he actually all style but no substance? |

I agree with Daps, people have been spoilt over the last twenty years.
Cooper did well for 2 seasons, nobody can argue with that, but even he wanted out, when the purse strings were tightened, Corberan did the same at Huddersfield.

I can't speak for him but I have said that nobody can be truly happy over how things are right now or indeed since we were relegated in appalling fashion.
For sure,ripping into other fans over their views is pitiful really at least when comments are not made face to face.

These articles about players wages online are pure guesswork, a lot of these articles will be based on us having parachute payments from the kadt 3 years and there will certainly be wages on the books that need lowering and in some cases taken off the payroll.
Luckily in the last 3cyears we have seen players be sold for good money which allows us to spend over time a small % of those fees, luckily some of those sales will see us get add ons down the road that is so important for the future if this club.
If you take in everything from signing on fees, agent fees, bonuses etc etc.... the list is endless then we are not able, as we stand, in a position to compete with atleast half the clubs in this league.
I really scratch my head as to what people really see or expect from the situation we are in. |

I remember people were telling me Ayew wasn’t on 80k and it must be rubbish, it wasn’t was it.
It’s funny the ones we know (as swans fans) to be true are all aligned, but you dispute anything you don’t know because it doesn’t align with your narrative.

And we were there on merit. Our finances stated we should be there.
We are now in a position where we have one of the biggest budgets in the championship, one of the best infrastructures around due to our 7 years in the EPL. Things change thankfully.
Has Russell Martin really sucked the care out of our fan base where as long as he doesn’t get us relegated to the bottom of league 2 then it’s ok?
If that’s the case why on earth have previous managers had a hard time? Should have kept Bob Bradley, he probably wouldn’t have sunk us to league 2. Give him a modest salary and a job for life. Job done.
Ironically when I first started supporting the club in the early/mid 90’s, Fulham were in Division 3 - down the bottom too. Ask their fans if they would be happy with back to back relegations to league 1… I mean those would be wonderful days compared to the bottom of league 2.
The fact is football changes with circumstance and so does expectation. It’s aligned with your finances and structure - ours are among the best in this league, so stating we shouldn’t be competing at the top end is a disservice to the work we have done over the last 25 years.
Dampening realism simply to protect a failing manager out of principle is an awful way to go about supporting your club, when it’s clearly under performing due to that management. We are quickly becoming some of the worst fans I have witnessed in any era supporting the club, and I don’t say that lightly. | |

I havent forgotten where we came from but I do know back then we werent selling players to premier league clubs for 12m neither did we have a stroke force valued at £25m
