What is a 'woke programme' and what have they cancelled ?

A woke programme is one a right winger doesn’t like. Simple.

Someone like Jk Rowling who said people who menstruare are women. This apparently upset the woke truths and she was cancelled.

I would describe "woke" as anyone who believes only their opinion is correct and denies the right of anyone who disagrees or has a different opinion to argue their case.

Sadly many student bodies are like this including the Oxford Union which use to have a healthy debating society but nowadays just bans anyone who has different views to them.

Has the BBC cancelled J K Rowling?

Have you ever been unfortunate enough to watch an episode of Frankie Boyles new world order? It’s just an echo chamber of ‘comedians’ most of whom are so far left they would make Jeremy Corbyn look like Mussolini all nodding away in agreement about what a bunch of bastards British people are. Especially the white ones.

I challenge you to watch this brief little monologue by this charming young lady without thinking the words “what the bloody hell is she banging on about?” Bear in mind this is meant to be a comedy show.

Brilliant is not an objective observation but a confirmation of a mutually held belief.
Hence a brilliant journalist is one who appeals to an individuals belief

It's like right/left wing, currently infeting our forum with trite shite sound bites gobbled up by those of a similiar pursuasion

Ive seen Bernadette Devil described as a virtual Mother Teresa and Putin as some sort of liberator of Ukrainians that like the old Russian ways.

WTF is going on here ,folks.

Tonight,a cracking prog on ITV about HOW POLICE STOP SEARCH DISPROPORTIATELY BLACK PEOPLE.

Seems to be the theme of left wingers .

I'm thinking Police will be using stop and search to find the killer of little Olivia. Chances are there won't be a problem is Dovecot is overwhelmingly white.

You could also argue that the police disproportionately stop uninsured drivers, vehicles without tax, drunk or druggged drivers, drug dealers or people they suspect of committing crime.

Sadly since the Mayor of London (who is also the Police and Crime commissioner ) was elected London has seen increasing knife crime and murders . He blames it on the Hot weather and School holidays rather than the scaling down of stop and search.

Define brilliance, John. In what way does she stand out from the rest of the completely interchangeable Westminster press pack?

She is very insightful, well read on her subject, doesn't just ask banal, obvious questions, responds to answers showing that she is not just following a stock line of questions. She is very good at the art of putting well thought out, intelligent questions to people, and properly examining interviewees whatever their political persuasion

It's nuts
I read and hear people wanting more police on the streets>
No they don't ,at least not taking what would be described as positive action, like stop /search.

I cannot get over reading ...BBC right wing ,Ukraine to blame for war and Devlin basically simply a good catholic girl

How has she been cancelled by the BBC ? They produced a series out of one of her books (post Potter) What did they cancel of hers ?

Do you really someone like Jacob Rees Mogg or Patel don't believe that only their opinions are correct and try to stop people from arguing with them (defund the BBC, attack C4, 'Enemies of the People' (Judges) The ECHR, 'leftie lawyers'

I didn't go to Oxford, but the place has many parts of the Union, of course some are idiots, but who do you think they've unfairly cancelled ?

Most students are idiots, I certainly was

The BBC by definition has to try to be all things to all people.

Often (as evidenced by this thread) it ends up pleasing no one. That makes it (relatively) balanced IMO.

No it doesn't, the BBC needs to be facts. Not angles just pure facts.
Surely nobody could have an issue with that?

Facts are facts.

But there are also opinions. This is why programs like Question Time have a range of panellists.

It’s the Beeb’s remit.

Andrew Neil, Allegra Stratton, Nick Robinson were political editors not comedy acts, they hosted political shows, interviewed people and made observations, their involvement with the Tories could be best referred to as card carrying Conservatives and they were in a position dominating our reporting on politics for decades.

When the Beeb asked experts based in Cardiff university to look into if the Beeb were biased the experts looked in detail into everything, it's the be all and end all of this debate, there can be no argument, they are biased right wing, giving four times as much coverage to the Tories when they were in Government than Labour but only giving Labour twice as much coverage as the Tories when Labour was in Government.
They were pro business over trade unions, pro the union over Scottish independence, pro Israel over Palestinians, pro Brexit over Europe the list go's on and on, I've seen the full report it is the be all and end all and the Beeb are biased right wing and what's more to anyone honest and paying attention it was obvious or at least should have been, but there again the troubles in the North of Ireland was a big thing when I was growing up and it was obvious the rights and wrongs of that and people choose not to believe it, now our Government is apologising for our conduct all the time, not many people are bias free and that is a pity.

The problem is on programs like that and things like Marr too often are panelists and interviewees not called out on blatant lies.
The BBC has fact checkers, so why don't they actually use them. Otherwise anyone can get away with lying to millions and without correction people will believe it as the truth.

The management of the BBC tends to reflect the Government of the day.

The rank and file of the BBC is generally left wing, echoing the political leanings of most large Government departments.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

It’s a bit too late to be crying about this Emily my dear. If you’d have stood up in the two recent general election campaigns and pointed to the amazing amount of anti Corbyn/Labour bias coming not just from the BBC either. The Murdoch press cabal did but they had massive self interest so they were never going to be impartial.

The right wing “government” that were elected are the ones to blame for a lot of people on this board having to endure great hardship this winter.

The fat blonde liar in number ten hasn’t uttered a word about the looming crisis and done less because he insists he’s “awaiting handover” but it didn’t stop him flying into Kiev and stopping Zelensky seeking a peaceful settlement with Russia. He does what the US tells him to do, not what he SHOULD be doing.

Facts are facts and people are people, as soon as people start using facts they start using angles.
Does anybody on here make any point and then post a fact that proves their "angle" to be wrong? Not intentionally they dont, though on the war in Ukraine thread it was managed several times by the same posters!

We all have our points of view, we have our leanings and thise leaning are reflected in our opinions. Absolutely nobody is 100% impartial, we all have unconscious bias.

Yes but take Brexit.

Maitlis said that you could find 50 anti Brexit economists, but only 1 pro Brexit economist.
The BBC then presents this as a 1 vs 1 as ‘balance’.
Is that fair and balanced ?

What about the 2016 nightly scare news from Calais…?
It stopped straight after the Brexit vote.
Wales fans will remember from 2016.
Every single night.

Why has Johnson since been able to stack he BBC Execs with Tory funders and supporters.
Maitlis describes Gibb as an active agent of the Tory party.

The Establishment have nobbled the BBC. Simple as that.
Farage on Question Time every week was no accident.

Parts of that I agree with.
Strange we are so far apart on much but aggressive Brexit was and is a disaster .I feel naked xenophobia saw this cluster fark of a referendum see us divorce ourselves from a continent to which we are attached. Britain really is in Europe.
We also don’t have an Empire any more .

Cameron s decision was the single most sinister decision in modern times mainly as he offered it not thinking for one second we d be dumb enough to leave EU. We are that dumb . Look around, read and listen .

The problem I've always had with the BBC is the fact that they will continually let politicians or political "commentators" lie. No matter how blantant and clear a lie it is the BBC very rarely pulls them up on it.
I remember a Johnson interview last year, he must've told at least a dozen lies that would've easily been proven within seconds by the researchers. Yet they let it slip.
If its not corrected it can lead viewers into believing it is the truth.
