Yeah, my aunties, cousins, brother in laws, ex girlfriends, old boss reckons that Sergei was carrying out maintenance over that weekend, I also remember my neighbour being annoyed because he had to drive his brand new Jag home without insurance

Just for the avoidance of doubt, I just made that up

This is entirely consistent with what I have posted. The insurers will sort out the mess. That is their 9 to 5 job.

This suggests Cardiff did have insurance.

Of course they did. Every business will have insurance that covers every employee. You don’t have to manually insure every new employee you take on. I would hazard a guess though that this insurance only covers the employee whilst engaged in professional work related activity. And this journey was for him to say goodbye to his old teammates so could be deemed as a personal or pleasure trip.

Either way it’s very unlikely anyway that the transfer fee would be covered by any insurance. It would be a simple contract that would state that Cardiff would pay X amount on these dates and in return Nantes would transfer the registration. Nantes have completed their side of the contract. Cardiff don’t have a leg to stand on really.

"Every business will have insurance that covers every employee." you state. Well the CASS case established as far as it is in their remit that Sala was a Cardiff employee not a Nantes employee. (therefore insured). What did he sign when in Cardiff. Insurance forms would be one of the forms or it is written into his contract with the club I would think.

Insurance companies do their business in a way that leave no periods of non cover. It is their business. The administration staff at Cardiff the same.

The players insurance value will be his transfer fee or the overall transfer fees of the whole playing staff in a group policy.

Sala was i in work activity. He specifically caught the earlier flight to be ready for training on Tuesday and had left his boots in Nantes. Insured and flying to Cardiff on football business not pleasure business.

If the player is insured to cover losses how would the loses b calculated. A £15m transfer fee would seem logical.

I repeat I am not an expert and simply applying common senses. Cardiff did nothing wrong and have sustained a serious loss while insured for errors made by other third parties who were also insured. I presume you are not an insurance professional. If you are a i defer to your superior knowledge. If you are not you cannot make claims that Cardiff have no insurance cover.

I didn’t claim Cardiff had no insurance cover. I claimed the exact opposite. Every business should have it. The second Sala became employed at that company he would have been covered. But the transfer agreement is entirely separate to any terms and conditions in Sala’s contract. And it’s the transfer fee that seems to be what Cardiff have been arguing over.

As for losses how do you financially value a human being? Of course we are worth a lot in terms of life is precious and valuable etc, but financially we have no intrinsic value at all. As I stated before you cannot own a human being so none of us legally can ever be described as a asset. Football fans often do but it’s not recognised legally. Cardiff paid for the right to register Sala as their player. That transaction was completed. Legally they’ve got nothing. They can’t sue for losses as they haven’t lost anything.

I worked in engineering and human lives are valued in economic term. Ordinary drivers are given a financial economic value based on an average income. The consequences of loss of income and all other incidentals are considered.

The transport division engineers use such data to determine if it is financially viable to spend millions on a new road layout (at a traffic blackspot for example) based on these valued added concerns. The higher the economic benefit the more likey funding can be found for it.

How can you say they have not lost anything?. That makes no sense. Some one like Robert Glatzel came in at a cost to replace him.

Given the amount of mocking that has come our way from our six fingered bretheren over the previous financial issues we've faced I'm deeply enjoying this.

The amount that they're trying to screw Nantes out of works out at around ten times our total debts both times combined. The £5m currently on the table is merely the first instalment of three.

Even now still refusing to pay, they really are the lowest of the low

First there came the boasting, then they paraded him in his kit, then they mourned him and mawkishly lapped up all the sympathy from the footballing world (that should have rested completely with his family). Once a bluebird always a bluebird they said.

Then suddenly they denied all that. They deserve everything the get. To the poster who said all clubs would have done the same - really? They were a PL club then - they would have garnered great publicity if they’d paid up what they had to there and then - and when they could afford to do so. And if they’d helped out Sala’s family and maintained close ties with them their standing in the football world would be admirable. Sadly now it’s the opposite.

Have they done any subsequent memorials or silences like we did for Besian? A genuine question as I really don’t know the answer.

I’d be very surprised if any insurance company would be happy for someone like Sala to jump into a plane like the one that crashed.

They are clueless, it’s embarrassing.

The only two entities they can sue is David Henderson who was found guilty after organising the pilot switch and was sentenced to 18 months. He’s a pensioner that used to fly odd jobs for a living, he probably doesn’t have 2 pennies to rub together.

The other is the company that owned the plane. Although it’s a bit of a muddy one it’s something along the lines of a company called “Cool Flourish” with just a husband and wife from Derby who own it, but the registry of the plane was in a company’s name called Southern Aircraft Consultancy in Norfolk but they aren’t believed to have been involved in the leasing of the plane.

So there isn’t anyone with the sort of funds needed to make suing worthwhile.

It will just cost them legal fees.

Suing the family of the pilot would be pointless. They won't have the money to cover it. It'll just be petty vengeance and they'll still owe Nantes £15m.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I am pretty sure they have to pay up the whole contract to the estate (family) as well, death in service.

It won’t be the whole contract. The contract terminates upon death but most companies give a lump sum to the family, think it comes out of the pension fund.

True his contract was worth over £1M

Players have a death in service benefit of up to 5 x salary up to £1m under the standard contract. Sensible footballers take out life and critical illness insurance policies as soon as they begin to hit their cycle of peak earnings.
