Southgate says he's visited Qatar and the overseas labourers all want the WC to go ahead.

He probably thinks totalitarian regimes are a good idea because everyone he is introduced to seems happy.

6,500 estimated deaths, this WC should not be happening.

Normally after Wales, I'll support the home nations. On this occasion, I'll be very happy when the inevitable poor performance leads to England's demise and Southgate is left to explain why Harry Kane's OneLove armband has failed to bring about the emancipation of the people of the Gulf States.

There have been 37 deaths among workers directly linked to construction of World Cup stadiums, of which 34 are classified as 'non-work related'

Ay workers he met will have been handpicked and probably handsomely paid or grievously threatened to say the right things, from a Qatari point of view.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

In the original report it states that India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka say that they have reports of around 6,500 deaths amongst migrant workers from their embassies in Qatar. The totalitarian regime in Qatar say it is 37

Both figures seem a bit ludicrous to be honest.

For 6500 people to be killed building seven stadiums they'd have to be firing the workers at the walls out of a cannon. That's nearly a thousand deaths per stadium.

Even if you include those killed on infrastructure projects it still seems high as hell. For comparison, 112 people were killed over five years building the Hoover Dam at a time where working class life wasn't worth a hell of a lot more in the US.

The truth, as always, is probably somewhere in the middle.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

The figure of 6500 deaths relates to deaths of migrants since Qatar was given the WC (2010, so in the last 12 years). This could have been from natural causes (85%+ were) and they may have been in the country for a multitude of reasons and have nothing to do with the World Cup.

These migrant workers will be predominantly young men aged between 18 and 35 ish. Not the sort of age you’d necessarily associate with dying with “natural causes” in great numbers under normal circumstances.

Sure I read somewhere that migrant workers make up around 90% of the entire workforce.

You said this

So you are saying 3 deaths at work not 6500. What do you believe?. Tell us.

Considering ( by their own admission ) Quatar does not carry out post mortems unless except in cases where a crime may have been committed or the deceased may have suffered from an illness prior to death and the fact that many who died due to their religious beliefs have the body returned as quickly as possible for the completion of religious burial or cremation rites.
, FIFA’s president Gianni Infantino said earlier this year at the European Council in Strasbourg that only three workers died , FIFA & truth have proven not to be good bedfellows , 6, 600 or 6000 we'll probably never know but the families will but they don't count

Your mistake and others is conflating the 6.5k figure with the World Cup.

Qatar has a massive migrant population. Before they even got the WC. They work in all sorts of industries and are a range of ages. Believe it or not, 95% of Qatar's workforce are migrants. Qatari's are very rich and well supported by their Government - they have no need to work.

There is a lack of transparency and no human rights framework for these workers. Deaths of young men are unexplained and hundreds of thousands are affected.

Qatar has a population of 3 million roughly the same as Birmingham. The world cup adventure includes metros a new airport and a range of other contractions all related to the World cup. I would guess probably 60-85% of all Qatar construction was World cup related over the last 10 years. The World Cup is a very big deal for such as small place.

You say 3 have died in construction related to the World cup. Journalists say over 6500 in construction where the majority of works are World cup related. Most were "natural causes" and suggest poor care and mistreatment of migrant workers by the Qatari authorities. Non payment and threats commonly reported.

This clearly went on before the World cup and the world cup and would have been known a a concern in any risk assessments done by FIFA. Peddling out the official line as fact is poor. in terms of ethics.
