| What do Swansea City have to do to please a small section of the clubs support ? on 10:11 - Jan 15 by KeithHaynes | And conversely I have never been so positive in a management team in many years, amd I include Cooler, Potter and those ridiculous premier league appointments in the last few years. As I think are the majority. |
I definitely think the tide is turning. The two recent wins, a credible performance against Burnley and even the way we came back against Coventry are clear indicators of this. There will always be detractors but they are definitely in the minority. The excellent support yesterday and the amazing following going next week to QPR just goes to show btge fantastic support Martin and the team have. "Happy Clappers" - rather be that than one of the "Moaning Minnies" ( hope that is in the thesaurus of allowed "abuse" ? ) Onwards and upwards

| What do Swansea City have to do to please a small section of the clubs support ? on 10:58 - Jan 15 by builthjack | Anyone who is constantly negative needs to go to QPR next week. Turn up a few hours before the game and ask the fans who spend thousands each season to support their team. We know what the answer will be. |
so here we go another example of belittling some fans as not proper supporters I have every admiration for those of our supporters who follow the team both home and away...some if those who attend away games rarely attend at home due to their situations.....in my younger days I too spent hours on the road often in dodgy cars unsure that they would complete the full journey to support the team...my circumstances have changed and so I can no longer be as fervent a supporter. Whilst my post after the game yesterday mat be deemed negative it was about keeping our feet on he ground as it seems we have a habit of running away with ourselves at the first sign of a swallow meaning summer has arrived. 18 months into the managers reign what progress is there We saw again yesterday Lati is not the answer at right back another example of Martin using round pegs in square holes they fit but fail to fill the slot. I believe there is a huge disconnect with the club management ie The owners and Winter and the footballing management...its not helping Martin's cause ...but Asbury have said previously why persist with a style of football that apparently he doesnt have the players for and in all seriousness would you expect to find sufficient players of that calibre in one team outside of the PL so why did Martin ever think that would work. it's all about opinions we will not all agree I apologise for being negative but for trying to be realistic which is what my post about 10 men and 3 wins in 12 was about. Sorry but nothing realistic about belittling what was a fantastic win. Just because it was against 10 men doesn't mean it wasn't a fantastic win

But there was 700 who went to Sunderland (we have no idea how many of them are happy with the way things are). Important not to get confused with being happy with the result and being happy with the way things are (and have been). We have over 1000+ people giving their view on various supporter sites with a specific question surrounding it and it certainly doesn’t seem like it’s “definitely” the minority at all. Quite the opposite.

| What do Swansea City have to do to please a small section of the clubs support ? on 11:30 - Jan 15 with 977 views | Dr_Winston | It is almost unheard of for a team incapable of being solid defensively to achieve anything. We're still leaking too many goals. We're still leaking too many stupid, avoidable goals. Eighteen months in and Russy has shown precisely zero ability to address this problem. We were dull to watch under Cooper, but at least we could defend. | |

We ve had far worse but to even suggest he deserves this personal affection is plain weird . It’s all very well us not being able to sack him but it doesn’t mean we should accept his shortcomings . Yesterday, Sorinola came in to the field of play ? Why ? Latibeaudiere still remains inept and easy to run past . We still have a fragile defence . The standard in this league is the lowest I can remember It ain’t a sin to doubt |
I think it’s good practice sometimes to look at the history of our club, during the years you say that you have been a supporter 27 of those years had been spent in the old leagues 3 and 4. There have been occasions when we have almost gone out of business, I can remember going to the Vetch in the 70’s when there were barely 2k supporters present. Even after the Toshack era, as brilliant as it was, we sank back down to the lower leagues, the last 15 years have been excellent for the club which have included a few promotions and performances which will stick in the memory for years. During the last few seasons we have gone close to promotion again, hopefully that will be achieved in the next few seasons. You are never happy.with the club, you have been the same for the past 15 years or so, you wanted the American owners to buy the club.

| What do Swansea City have to do to please a small section of the clubs support ? on 11:17 - Jan 15 by Dr_Parnassus | You don’t get a view now then. Football will always be the same and it will never be true that only those that spend money on a ticket have a valid view. It’s logical fallacy that will never stand up to any scrutiny other than football fans unable to prove their points with facts, so as a result ring-fencing a barrier around their views by applying arbitrary standards such as a purchased ticket to protect those views. I’ll happily put my views of the game against anyone who buys a ticket, weekly. |
No…I try to limit my views based on what I’ve actually seen. You know yourself how different a game looks when you’re at the match rather than watch on tv. Everyone in this free world is entitled to an opinion. It’s just the way I feel. If the paying customers are happy then good luck to them but count me out. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

You should never judge a season by looking at how bad it was in the past. That’s like a billionaire being happy to lose everything because when he/she was a kid he/she had no income. Different situations have different expected results. When we were in the doldrums, that reflected our standing in the football pyramid in terms of finances, ability, support size, facilities, infrastructure -you name it. I loved our time in League 2 because we were maximising what we had. I didn’t feel we were underperforming and certainly could see our squad was fully deserving of nearly falling out of the football league. These days we have the benefit of a recent stint in the Premier League. We have income driven by our time there, facilities, fan base, player experience, infrastructure, academy, budgets all pointing to us being a top 8 Championship club. Until we are consistently performing to that level then nobody should be happy with things are going, especially after we wrote off a season for this one.

Apparently we not allowed to use the bad old days as a barometer by some. Like many, I saw the re-election, the one man and his dog gates, the gates locked just before Xmas never to reopen ( of course they did ), the Petty era, the Hull game etc. Apparently none of that is admissible to some. Counting our blessings isn't allowed.

Indeed, many who attend reserve judgement until they watch it back. Having been a multiple season ticket holder and also someone who watches from home due to where I live - I see far more when I’m not there with the distractions and lack of different perspectives and vantages that come with such a single vantage view. It always amuses me when half the ground is cheering thinking a shot has gone in when all those watching at home clearly have seen it’s wide. Or those who swear a penalty was a penalty until they realise it was nothing of the sort, of which those at home will have known at the time of the event.

| What do Swansea City have to do to please a small section of the clubs support ? on 13:38 - Jan 15 with 831 views | ReslovenSwan1 | I want evidence that Martin is a more than a mid table manager. Vincent Kompany appears to be doing abetter job with Burnley than Potter did with Swansea. A hallmark of a good manager. Martin showed his love for Mowbrey. Another specialist in mediocrity in achievement which is probably an overly harsh comment as Martin is in season four. Martin has failed to get a modern footballer like Obafemi to play to his potential. Lets see what Kompany does with him. If Obafemi and Patterson were firing Swansea would be top six. If Kompany gets consistency from Obafemi then it shows better management skills. Having said that even highly rated Hassenhutl gave up on him. What I want from Martin is progression and the gradual eradication of sloppiness. British footballers are typically lazy passers of the ball. Harry Wilson typifies this for me. A huge talent but poor concentration and sloppy for Wales. A stand out in the Championship but struggling to get in the first XI at Fulham like James. Swansea fans shamefully make comments like "Swansea players are not good enough to play Martins's way". They did it under Roberto, Brendan, Potter etc. I want Martin to use the academy and utilised and develop home grown talents. This season in particular his coaching has brought on 4 player 3 of whom could easily have been flogged off. Benda, Ollie Cooper Cabango and Cullen. Congreve is in squads. I want him to develop further Whittaker, Joseph and Brandon Cooper. Swansea needs to sell trees not saplings. These players are keen as mustard eager to perform give energy and can be moulded in the style. Steve Cooper a great manager was not suitable for Swansea as he would not have shown patience to these 5 or 6 players. He was impatient to get to the premier league. I expect top 6 top 8th at the worst. A top 6 is major improvement with home grown players. and transfer fee money in the bank. | |

The tide could be turning STID but that is as a result of a change in how we set up and play and hopefully our manager is learning. Im sorry if you felt I was moaning yesterday but it wasnt a "fantastic" win it would have been had it been against a full 11 man Sunderland but a win it was and very welcome.

Builth I have every admiration for those of you who follow us away.....years ago I did it myself alas circumstances mean its no longer possible for me. My hat goes off especially to those who gave up this weekend to make the longest journey up to Sunderland awesome The issue is we will all have differing opinions for me I feel we could be doing better feel our manager is holding us back.....interestingly the North East corner of the .com vacated early following that Blackburn game didnt they Well done to all you guys who out in the miles and the pounds to follow our beloved Swans away from home but Im sure they are the occasional grumbles on the way home after games we have lost. Being critical isnt necessary negative is it?

Best part of 40,000 baying fans, a Sunderland team who felt wronged by the sending off ( and a myriad of othèr decisions which went against them ) and a Swans team which hadn't won away since October. In the face of that it felt fantastic to me and many others. Maybe it is just being a glass half full type of person that makes me feel thus?

Top 8? Seems a tad ambitious to me. I count at least 10 clubs who are bigger or at least arguably bigger than us. Then how many clubs in our division have been in the EPL since us? I would say 8-15th is about a fair reflection of our size, taking into account all you said because other clubs still have parachute payments, other clubs get bigger crowds or have rich owners. Still, we are all entitled to our opinions.
