They are not the reason Russell Martin should spend any longer in Swansea than he needs to. We ask him to consider the real people' Either this is poorly worded or it's designed to create a them and us scenario. To suggest anyone who Questions RM is weak or shallow stinks. The evidence is clear for all those not to blind to see that he is not good enough for the job/or isn't learning quick enough. 2 wins in 15/16 with this squad is unacceptable. How many last minute capitulations will/can we forgive before the penny drops |
You got three up arrows from people who didn’t read it either. How on earth can you come to the conclusion you did when it doesn’t say that ?

He’s had his say, he has been furnished with a response, on here and at the foot of the article. In football terms we are in disorientation at the moment, and some clearly can’t take on board anything without feeling it’s all about them. As I’ve said before there’s nothing I or we or the site can do about that. Misinterpretation is one thing, and making stuff up and misleading people is another. And that’s what has happened here. We all have bad days.

You are right Keith we are in total disarray at the moment We have an inept manager.....Saturdays total mismanagement in the second half ( I was full of praise for how we played with variety in the first half ,no possession for possession sake, making use of the ball and attacking the Brum box) His tactics and use of the bench when changing the formation were so niave. Why not bring on an experienced defender in Naughton rather than switch Oli Cooper an attacking midfielder to RWB? We have an ownership which is disconnected and believes it knows more about the EFL and how the British game of "soccer" works than those on the ground here they pay to manage things. I have said before their lack of understanding clouds their judgment AS fans as always we all have our differing opinions and thoughts as to where the blame lies...we have a section of fans calling for the owners to "get out of our club" lets hope they dont decide to do so or where will that leave us.. The Trust is now meaningless and whilst in theory it was there to help pick things up should another Petty saga arise its now worthless All in all look how far we have slipped in 20 years....or even 10 . 10 years ago now we were looking forward to our first ever final of a major trophy....look at us now! It’s a complete mess this week Vetch. As I said I understand completely the frustrations. If I was Martin I would be negotiating my leaving today and tomorrow, nothing more. But people pointing the finger at others just because it suits the moment isn’t the right way to go about stuff. We are all disappointed and yes maybe it’s time for a change, maybe. But the way these owners are behaving can we trust them to make the right move.

Are these the same owners who several weeks ago were right to be be considering extending Martins contract? As I said these owners do believe they know more about British soccer than those on the ground here .....they have made mistakes in the past ....Bradley , signing Arriola and Morris so they could make the same mistake again Putting my opinions on Martins abilities aside I do feel some sympathy for the situation he now finds himself in. I have been in "toxic" work situations myself they are not good. Personally I think now is the time for the owners and management to sit down and work out how we exit this situation.....if this includes Russ walking or a settlement whether that is termination of contract or a resolution of the situation. Im not sure how employment law applies to football clubs but I would have thought it would be the same but to me Martin has a case for Constructive dismissal should he walk But how sad that we as a club have come to situations like this again

Rightly or wrongly I and the site supported giving him an extended contract. Strangely enough he didn’t want it. I would imagine Martin is already in negotiations to either leave, mend the relationship etc as per the headline report this morning.

lets hope there is some resolution....either way its not good for the club and will harm us in the future in attracting personnel....it is the same in any industry.

I’ve read it several times. Like I said at the start it’s either badly worded. So there is that. We’ll have to agree to disagree on the intent of the article. But appreciate the output all the same

You are spot on Keith no one deserves abuse, it is criminal the way social media has allowed these persons to spout their vile whilst hiding behind a keyboard We will all have differing opinions but the use of abuse is not welcome

What is the feeling regarding the situations at the Club Keith? is Martin likely to leave by whatever reason or will he be offered more support, I think if he stays he needs someone who can guide him in the right directions and he himself needs to take advice on board. Otherwise there's little to be gained by him staying, he's making to many mistakes and to regularly.

The view of those I spoke to this morning is in the report mate. I’ll take a stab in the dark. He will stay. If he doesn’t, he will go 😂

I think what the article implies is that some people ( especially on Twitter it seems ) are way beyond critical and their vicious, cutting words have no place in a sensible critique of a football manager or other events surrounding the club. I am sure Keith and his fellow writers accept that the views surrounding the way the club is run are multi faceted, and have no wish to embellish what already appears to be a "them and us" situation on here and elsewhere. We should all be able to express our viewpoints on the manager, coaching staff, players and owners whilst accepting that other poster's viewpoints are just as valid. It is a big week for Russell Martin and his staff. IMHO one I cannot see them continuing in their posts, whether through their own choice or being fired by the owners

| Showdown talks this week for Russell Martin at Swansea City on 18:48 - Feb 6 with 627 views | max936 | Reading that doesn't bode well health and happiness comes first, lack of sleep through worry isn't gonna help going forward, for him or his family or SCFC which goes without saying obviously. He and his team have been let down, it hasn't been helped by his stubbornness I suppose though, but a lot of work and expectation was put into this transfer window and it hasn't turned out as expected, whether the yanks just refused to back him or they themselves did not acting accordingly, who knows. They didn't help Cooper or Potter before him either, so who knows. | |

| Showdown talks this week for Russell Martin at Swansea City on 11:40 - Feb 6 by cadleigh | Russell Martin is the most divisive manager of Swansea City I can ever recall. Most the time, supporter opinion has been pretty consistent. The only ones in my memory who even come close are Monk and Cooper, and IMO Monk has been more criticised after he left than he was while he was here, and Cooper attracted fans, critics and a large number of people who didn't enjoy much of his football but were happy with the results. With Martin there's very little middle ground. And this will continue for years after he leaves, because at the rate things are going if he does go, it will be portrayed - rightly or wrongly - as due to a principled stand against the owners. Any criticism of his managerial style and ability will be shunted to one side in favour of a 'betrayal' narrative. I fervently hope that when the next manager comes in we can draw a line under this period, and shut down the Cooper Culture Wars while we are at it. There are decent Swans supporters on both sides of the pro and anti Martin divide, all real Jacks. |
Excellent post. | |

Expensive business sacking managers and who are we going to attract that improves us. If Russ feels he can carry on should be allowed to and review at the end of the season. |
I agree. My only worry is that we may struggle over the next 17 games and end up in a dogfight at the bottom. Not sure Martin is the one to lead us to safety if it came down to it ?

I think the fact that Martin was openly critical of his employers negates any claim for constructive dismissal he may have. I hope common sense reigns and an amicable deal is reached where by Russ can walk away and enjoy some time with his family, clear his head and get back to doing what he loves at another club. To see any individual, in or out of football, who has had the enthusiasm totally sucked out of them is sad IMHO
