The system doesn’t work The players look like they either don’t understand the system/aren’t capable of playing it/have given up on it The crowd is apathetic. The vibe before games is similar to the last few months under Clement. We kind of know what’s going to happen Awful teams like Rotherham know they can come here without fear Yes, we’re going to stay up and it’ll be cheaper to appoint a replacement in the summer. We’ll also be back at square one. I’d much rather that now and hit the ground running in August. |
Totally agree. | | | |

What is positive is now the fan base has seen sense and he clearly underestimates us. We are a proper club alright and he is very close to finding out just how proper we are because he has sh@t all over good people

That’s been taken out of context. I don’t see anything wrong in the point he was trying to get across. What it ignores though, is the boos, in all likelihood, were not aimed at the players.

| The use of the word insignificant. on 14:00 - Feb 28 by nantywatcher | Wow I had to keep re-reading that post to believe what was written. For a team to actually be awful and look good against is simple management - send your players out onto the pitch with a ready-made template of how to play and with or without the ball you will be in control of the game. "but he’s man enough to take it on the chin." To me he looks like a schoolboy who has wandered into the grown-up's world. Completely lost and bewildered. Doing everything but accept his role in this 18-month escalation into a relegation battle. |
A settled back 3 or four will make a huge difference as will pace especially in wide areas. We don’t look like getting in behind teams or with runners getting ahead of our strikers. We are a bit predictable but it’s easily remedied. We have looked good at times this season but there’s no getting away from the fact that we are on a bad run. Realistically talk of a “ relegation battle “ is well wide of the mark. A couple of wins and we are in the top half again and the way our club is currently being run, 12th this season is not a bad return. It’s so easy to blame the manager. I’d be looking more closely at our players as lots are underperforming, some not due to lack of effort eg Allen and Cabango. Allen looks like he’s finished. Ponderous and lacking energy.

‘Realistically talk of relegation is well wide of the mark’ Wake up & smell the coffee it’s very realistic 3 wins in 20 games 2 of those against 10 men. If something doesn’t change we are in deep trouble.

| The use of the word insignificant. on 15:29 - Feb 28 by pencoedjack | Martin has done me. I am a ST holder & have watched 2 maybe 3 games live since the World Cup, normally never miss a game, not renewing after being a ST holder for 30 odd years. I take my hat off to those making the trip to Luton on the weekend. I also believe we are not out of the relegation mix just yet, I fully expect us not gain a point until we play Bristol City & the Basseys, I cant even bring myself to go there as I think they have a good chance of turning us over if Martin is still manager. People need to start realising relegation is a real possibility. |
Now rather than take my hat off to those making the trip to Luton i am of the mindset of why are they doing this to themselves.

For us to get relegated it would take at least two of the bottom four teams to exceed their points per game performance so far, while we gain no points between now and end of the season. It cannot possibly happen ? Can it ?

Went there when we first got promoted to the Championship, away end was an open bank and we lost 5-0, been to a lot away games over the years and that's up there with the worse of them and I'm not gonna elaborate on that day

…which tends to suggest he needs to be more careful his use of language Fans are normally the ones who precipitate a manager’ s sacking. If boos don’t bother him, then he is clearly even more stupid than some think . However,it might be the case they do bother him.

Lots of ways of doing that without spending all that money and spending most of the day on a motorway to watch a boring football team led by a plonker of a manager, and this is coming from someone who used to go to plenty of away games.

A day out with a group of your good football mates is just that. Depends on what type of person you are. And how much being with some top lads means to you. [Post edited 1 Mar 2023 19:48]

In the day, before net,I used to go to away games on my Tod to watch the team. I used to eat sarnies in the car then go to the ground, stand there then drive back with my reflections still in my head I have never seen the point of going to football games simply to drink and talk warlocks which is what men do after alcohol. I’ve not really understood how some the game as peripheral to a lads day out . Maybe it’s just me .

Lol. The mates I had / have were not really attracted to coming along to see us . Less so now. Imagine inviting a good chum to watch our lot . That said,I’m very comfortable in my own company. I don’t need drunken manhugs ,nor someone vomiting on my shoes . I took my son to Derby once and some cretin threw up all over his pants and shoes . I had to restrain him from taking him out as he s not as gentle as me Did take missus to Sunderland though and it was fine

All about friends and how you enjoy the day. Some are like you, some get pissed up and some enjoy a spot of lunch a couple of glasses of their preference and chat about the match. None are right none are wrong, at the end of the day we are there to support the team.

Indeed so and well said. I do miss the Prem though . Times I have had in pubs in Liverpool prior to Goodson and Anfield are fondly remembered. My missus will never go to our home ground again for various reasons ,not all football related . Times like these

I was at that game and saw it, can’t have been two different games the same. Was it the Pintado tackle game ?

I’ll rephrase it. Absolutely nothing wrong with what he said unless you twist it to make it sound like something he didn’t say. Paraphrased it was along the lines of ‘when the players look back at their careers, the boos they got Monday (and probably will continue to get if we keep playing as we are) won’t be a lasting memory’. I completely agree with him. I don’t actually think the boos were aimed at the players, but that’s a different point.

Well,I completely disagree as boos often league to dismissals ,which means either unemployment or a big pay out . In either case, hardly insignificant I stand by every word

I can go out with my mates and team mates after our Rugby match or around Swansea there are plenty of options i just do not fancy spending over a 100 quid and spend most of the day on the road to go and watch absolute drivel, but plenty do it and a lot more certainly do not do it but as you say each to there own.

For a hundred quid I can think of a few better entertainment options . No offence
