Is Vic (still) there? 14:35 - Dec 28 with 6599 viewsReslovenSwan1

This story really boils my bladder fluids. Mr Levien must be pulling his hair out. He authorized the loan to buy this guy for £1m.

Cooper "did not fancy him" sent him back then moaned. He preferred Lowe and Cullen.

"No number 9 see butt"

"No support see butt".

£87m ought to do it. Useless Yankees giving us cheap players and not backing their coaches. "we deserve better".

Whitaker anyone ?
Duff "Fletcher was OK"

What is it to them? No long term plans. They will all be off at the end of the season. It is the "Business culture" of the club. SHORT TERM ISM. Send the loans back.

Yes short term ism. Cooper might have thought Goykeres has all the fundamentals and will be an hell of a player with 50 games under his belt.

You are right the future of Swansea 20 month down the line meant nothing to him.

Whitaker was brought back last year and Martin ignored him ad preferred Cullen. Martin was not thinking beyond he Summer. He could have got a lot more put of Whitaker but did not like the fellow. Now Swansea have no effective strikers.

Fletcher at 18 was offered to Duff. He has been a revelation in the u18s. "He was OK but no better than what we have already got" (like Cullen). Another not thinking of 20 months down the line. Another player handed over on a sliver platter. Another £30m down the pan.

We don’t know what Cooper thought.

I’d argue mst club mangers don’t look 20 months down the line, Duff didn’t get 7 months.

Whittaker…. Was brought back but it there was talk about him being brought back to be moved on. When a move failed to materialise I’m pretty sure I recall he wasn’t in the right frame of mind for a while.

How do you know what Martin thought?

You connected with the club or previous owners?

It would be a real shame if this messageboard got into trouble especially as there are some many good and constructive discussions.

"You connected with the club or previous owners?"

It obvious that he is, despite his denials, Fletcher was on Trial and couldn't be used to play in the Championship, he's been told that countless times, like many other truths he's been told, but like all stooges he won't agree, even the dimmest, dullest, doziest and thickest know what the truth is.

I can't say I have been impressed with our ownership since 2016.
But I think it is unfair to claim that the owner was willing to pay £1,000,000 for Gyorkes if this is not the case.
Only a handful of people would know if we were ever close to bidding so it is important that a source is given.

I speculate . It is blatantly obvious Martin did not like MW as a player. Martin did not say so but he did not need to. MW has performed brilliantly for any manager who is not called Russel Martin.

Duff could have rejected MW s demands to leave and done a charm offensive. He is a blunt person and did not make the effort. It might have saved him his job. It is football.

If MW was recalled from Plymouth where he was playing well, possibly against his will with a view to to being moved on to other clubs then it’s possible whatever the Duff or the club tried to do MW would have refused.

I don’t think Duff would have had the nod on whether to reject a potential transfer. Id speculate that decisions like that would be made much higher up the chain of command.

Speculation is suggesting something is true based on evidence. I always state I am not a club insider and from up the dark valley.

I try to be positive whereas other favour being negative and suggest shouting obscenities at small children and women in the VIP seats on this forum.

The US owners have been 'ready to leave' for more than SEVEN years now and Levien has been at DCU for over 10 years. Some fans talk of "flipping" the club. It is fantasy.

Coleman is a brave tough nut from what i can see. I wish him good luck. The problem he has is Watson has not performed.

Hardly any of the 13 new players have impressed. Key was flagged before he came has been the best. Fletcher the 18 year old has been a revelation and handed over by guess who JASON LEVIEN. Football folk do not like being outperformed by lawyers for sure. Then again Mourhino was a translator.

I suggest Swansea need mangers with a longer term perspective. This means by buying prospects needing 50 game to get going. Njoe and Kukharevic may be in this category. They need developing and at present are stagnating due to lack of opportunity. Harrison Ashby should not be at this club nor Humpreys.

If Brendan was in charge and wanted Morgan he would have had the skill to deal with Morgan and the hierarchy. Morgan was under contract.

The same with Martinez. Both their ex players state they would have walked through a brick wall for those guys. This is why they are so highly rated and Duff is not.

I iliked Duff and hope he will learn from his Swansea experience.

Luke Williams is suitable for Swansea city? Is this an opinion or a FACT?.

I speculate he is a good fit based on evidence.

a) He plays a possession game
b) He knows the players who reportedly favour him.
c) He is familiar with the management and way of working.
d) He has experience.

Speculation based on facts.

The transfer to Roma was agreed before he come to us.

Whittaker definitely wanted out. Even after Martin had left. They clearly didn’t get on, but Martin wasn’t his only problem.

Exactly, he went to Duff on his first day & told him he wanted out and the reasons why.
Given that Martin had already gone it's obvious that he had issues with the hierarchy at the club.

You state that Fletcher was offered to Duff - yet Levien had a different view...

"Jason Levien – Swansea City co-owner and CEO of D.C. United – has told MLSsoccer.com that the expectation is that Fletcher will be back with the MLS side when his loan ends. He added that the change of management at D.C. presents a ‘great opportunity’ for the player, saying:

“I think it’s fantastic that Kristian is having the success he’s having and the experience he’s having.

“We want him playing first-team soccer or football to get that experience as well. So right now we expect that he’ll be back with D.C. United."

They did.

Whittaker didn’t want to come back
Martin didn’t want him to come back
He refused to play
He asked to leave after Martin had left the club

He clearly didn’t see eye to eye with Martin, but no one should pretend he was happy with the way the owners treated him.

He had no choice to say this.

Fletcher wants to play in Europe not the MLS. He was on trial and despite some fabulous performance was not offered a deal by Swansea. He was reportedly very keen on staying.

Swansea city management have form on this. Goykeres and Whittaker were provided by the recruitment people but not developed by managers with a very short term outlook.

Duff was sniffy so Levien says bring him back. Dufff stated "he was OK but not first in line of the academy players".

Are you speculating here or do you know for certain Levein would have let him stay?

I can’t say 100%, but I’ve been told by a decent source he was keen to stay and Duff was keen to give him a run.
