This year the talk is about a range of tax rises to areas such as wealth, pensions and savings, fuel duty and property taxes. The clear risk here is that these measures will take money out of the economy as people move money between asset classes and the property market slows. A slow property market has a wide impact on legal services, building companies, DIY, furniture, white goods etc.
We are likely to see a lack of confidence in spending, combined with further pressure on some sectors pushing up prices and unemployment adding to today's problems.
Let's hope Reeves decides to stimulate confidence and get more money moving in the economy, the back benches seem to have won the day on Welfare Reform so I doubt it.

The world has changed significantly and a 90% top rate of tax is ridiculous.
It’s about having a balance, the rich and affluent have to pay their share, but if they are crucified they’ll upsticks and emigrate.
Going back to the 1950’s and 1960’s when we had those tax rates, it was very difficult for people to move around like they can today, no golden visas, you couldn’t be in Oz or New Zealand in 24 hours, no internet etc to keep in touch with families, accessing good healthcare was an issue in many places. These days you can be anywhere in 2 days, access top healthcare almost anywhere in the world if you have the cash etc.
We can’t live in the past, referring to things that happened 70 years ago is crackers. The world society has changed and we need to move with it. |
Absolutely the World has changed and 90% top rate of tax would be ridiculous now but I put it up to show what rich people used to pay and what they pay now because I'm sure most people would have no idea historical levels of taxation in the UK, I don't want them thinking the rich are hard done by when I think the opposite is true.
I think tax on rich individuals and very profitable corporations should be increased and if them means a percentage leaving then good, I don't say that to be arsey, I don't want money oriented people that don't care about their country here, they can go and live behind a wall or fence in a country that will tax them less but obviously due to lack of taxation that leads to gated communities and high crime. |  |

Using the car by a fit for purpose individual , but should only be used as the other half is claiming benefits , should be in the passengrer seat for that reason , that is why you have the latest plate top of the range motor and chuck in a blue badge to help you along .

You can also get extra money on Universal Credit for having a child in receipt of DLA, even though that's the point of DLA in the first place.
DLA/PIP need a thorough looking at as they're essentially almost a "Gateway" to some serious cash. | |

The Government should make permanent currently temporary full expensing of business investment within Corporation Tax, and ideally extend its scope to all investment, while keeping the headline rate stable over time.

A new per-mile ‘Road Duty’ system should mirror Fuel Duty for electric cars
