From experience in Cuba the pen and pencil idea is untrue staff prefer cash because of the striving black market. Yes I also bought goods on the black market there. Doctors and nurses although on basically the same pay scale as most Cubans get extra benifits like better housing. I had many an interesting hour talking to hotel staff and locals over several years particularlyon how life is changing, life is not always as portrayed on the outside. | | | |
