I'm not sure what an English minded person looks like, I work on both sides of the border and deal with 10 to 20 people a day. I'm sitting in Oxfordshire right now on a service job waiting for some tests to complete.
I can say in all honesty no one in England has ever raised what' Wales people think or has anyone in Wales raised the issue of what English people think.

I think the question was why did Labour lose? They had unpopular and often misunderstood policies.
There is no excuse of course for the poor results on education. They appear to have declined successful systems of teaching used in England (as far as I understand it) . Welsh teaching unions may have too much influence. That is my perception.
The health issue is a bit more complex but the results come from the people working in that field not the Government probably. The budget was provided. Welsh people often have poor lifestyle and diets worse than England I once read. If Wales introduced a "sugar tax" people would be up in arms again. Then there is the issue in mid Wales of elderly English migrants.
People wanted the M4 relief road but have not understood the massive risks involved. If it goes over budget like most civil engineering works the whole nation goes in to debt . HS2 anyone? From my experience problems including around Port Talbot do not come from speed limits but the slow reaction to accidents. The consequences of crashes at 6am run on for hours. With modern GPS technology the "investigation" need to be done faster and on site recovery track on station,
The 20 mph was a blunder and very unpopular. 25 mph would e be easier to sell. They have this in areas of USA.
Reform supporters go on about Trees in Uganda. While this was a success and a good thing. The Senedd over hyped their success giving the impression that they had wrong priorities. It was pennies. Over hyping charity just does not look good. It belongs in brochures and websites and as an understated after note. Then there is Starmer with his problems. "Smashing the gangs" Yeah right. Failing to push through cuts in the benefits system with his chancellor in tears smacks of weakness. Some personal life issues . He has not played the hard nut v Russia or taken any credit for UK excellent support for Ukraine. That may be due to wot provoking the stupid a but strong bear. The infiltration of the British state by Palantir is a concern by contracts have been signed. It make the much needed Digita ID card deeply unpopular. Labours continuing links to Toxic Tony Blair continues.
Personally i don not quite understand why Starmer is more unpopular than the crooked buffoon Boris. I think Drakeford did a decent d job. He balanced the book and generally avoided scandals and I think is probably a honest bloke. The 20 mph never bothered me much. I lowered my average spread to 25 mph and watched out for cameras. Drakeford's extra restrictions in Covid never bothered me at all. Both my elderly parents survived. Fleet street have it in for Drakeford as they did for Sturgeon .
Gething was a disgrace and gave up the best job he could get for £200k What a cheap bloke. I suspect most of the rest of Labour people were by Westminster standards pretty decent people. Many people in Wales have not fully recognised the disgusting actions of the IDS in the genocide in Gaza and have looked the other way. UK laws a have stunted debate at the behest of Isrealis.
People have rightly assessed that Reform do not have sufficient experience. Reform appear to have accepted that themselves by supporting Huw Irrancea Daves for the top support job.
James Evans seems like a decent pro Wales fellow but Laura Anne Jones needs to be given the boot and probably that Swansea woman Francesa O'brien as well. He dalliance with the Voice of Wales dimwits does not auger well. | |

Yeah but presumably without an official coalition there will be things that Labour members will vote against. They are technically/officially part of the opposition benches. I know in practice they will probably vote with Plaid on virtually everything because they are essentially the same party but there will be probably be times where the government will need every vote. |  |

You’re never going to please everyone, the other parties can scream until they’re blue in the face - but Irancca Davies got the numbers and that’s it.
The problem we have with the current system is many politicians aren’t bothered about improving the lot of the general public, it’s all a game to them as they try to the thwart their opponents often to the detriment of Joe Public.
I know a councillor who gave up the party whip after many years of membership and become an independent member because of this. In short, the council proposed something that could deliver a big benefit community, the councillor (who was in the opposition) could see the benefits the proposal would bring and wanted to support it, but party politics etc wouldn’t allow them to support the initiative and faced with being whipped to vote against the proposal said councillor resigned and became and independent member. Said councillor voted for the proposal which has had a big benefit on their constituents. The councillor has stood at several elections since and has always been re-elected while standing as an independent.
And then we have this! I’ve not got a great deal for the Green Party leader, but if a council is dysfunctional surely it makes sense for the other parties to come together to take control for the good of the community.

I still have some sympathy for Maurice Glasman's Blue Labour movement (though dialing down the faith aspect). Realistically, his ideas are anathema to the Corbynites or even the "soft left", and have no possibility of getting mass support in the Parliamentary Labour Party as it presently exists. Compelling analysis of much of what has gone wrong though.
