But why would th on 17:28 - May 27 with 2547 views | Vetchfieldboy | I suspect that previous posted comments regarding Gorringe's divisive management style has prevented Gorringe from carrying out his plans to recruit people he has direct control over. His past employment record in football is not impressive, the US owners have only themselves to blame if things don't work out at the club.

The clock is ticking, if Gorringe is the problem he needs to be dumped now. If he is not the problem and he is staying why are we not putting a solid management team in place to move forward.

This is what I don't understand. Let's face it, they have no emotional ties with the club or the area but they sure as hell have a financial one plus reputations to protect as very successful businessmen. Ironically the guy who did have a lifelong relationship as a Swans fan has gone. I hate being cynical but cannot help comparing the buzz from this time last year to absolute uncertainty hanging in the air now. If however it all works out I will be the first to give myself a damned good talking to for doubting the process. [Post edited 27 May 19:59]

It didn't work when Coleman deludedly thought he could run the club on his own, so I hope Gorringe has learnt from that episode. More importantly is have the owners. [Post edited 27 May 20:12]

The owners are shrewd. They play financial hardball and have illustrated already their no compromise when relieving people of their considered safe positions. In this case they will almost certainly have a business plan for Gorringe. Currently he is managing far too many aspects of the club, his role is to oversee and report back to the people with money. The fans park alone will detract from his current position of involving himself as the spearhead for recruitment. That’s a sole position for people with analytical skills, the ability to manage the scouting network inter linked with the position Adam Worth held. It’s highly unlikely he is skilled to do that. In fact he isn’t. However, what he will have is the work Worth did pre him resigning from his role. He may feel comfortable dealing with those players already identified and manage deals. And this is possibly why the owners at this time are happy. They don’t have to rush into an appointment or two as it stands because the work is in place. I would imagine Gorringe has given them assurances he can manage the whole club, which is very unusual. But it does save money, a fair bit of money. His actions and what he achieves or otherwise across the board will be monitored. He will either come out of it smiling or not in a job. That’s the crux of this rather strange approach to internal management within the club. Gorringe is controlling everything, to do this he will have to micro manage all aspects of the club otherwise he will be uninformed. Not an ideal style of leadership but he has no choice, that is if he is concentrating on the club as a whole and not those areas that reflect well on him. His position and recruitment positions don’t last that long at Swansea. He will be aware of that so does that affect his agenda in football club management ? Or is he an individual who can think objectively on what matters to Swansea City and not Tom Gorringe ? Many questions with not too many answers at the moment. Personally I think he is way in over his head if he thinks he can manage an elite football club across the board and not leave gaping holes that should be filled by others.

Great Post Keith, but surely the owners must be concerned with why Worth resigned and given how Cravatt has links to him I wonder if there have been words exchanged. I agree Gorringe is in way too much it is the same situation as we saw with Coleman though adnittedly Gorringe has more experionce of running an EFL club . Yet another summer with turmoil of some sorts

It is and a concerning one in my opinion, with all the finances involved in running SCFC the owners are playing russian roulette, if it starts crumbling the fans will sense it and react without a doubt, there is of course the chance that they could be looking to move the club on I suppose, but why go through all they've been through to do that, so I don't see that happening. It's all a bit strange with all the support that was in place all disappearing. [Post edited 6 Jun 23:03]

| Swansea City in a quandary over experienced recruitment staff ? But why would th on 16:33 - May 30 with 1522 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Matos has stated the main job has been done in the shorty to medium term with quite a turnover in the last season or two. There are also 5-6 promising players coming through knocking in the door He says he needs one or two not five or six. I always felt Martin needed massive overhaul every season to cover his tracks and always have an excuse like " the new players need time". Matos believe a he already has the tools and needs a few tweaks. Now is the time to for delivery not another rebuild. Get one quality loan not three raw average ones. [Post edited 30 May 16:35]

If it’s him it will be sporting Director. Appointed via Gorringe with endorsement from the majority owners you would think. He has just left that role at Birmingham City. Not enamoured with his efforts last season though with all that money.

If its him you would ask why he is leaving a club with high aspirations, a pending new 50,000 seater stadium ect, for another club in the same league in a identical role.

Matos is in board and accept a his job is to get the best out of players who have joined over the last 18 months. The club will always be keeping an eye of exceptional prospects undervalued. Why have a massive recruitment staff when there will be little actual trading. That is while Worth left perhaps. He job was 85% done ?
