Peter Murrell has pleaded guilty to embezzling over £400K of Party funds between 2010 and 2022. He used the money to buy various luxury items, about which we are asked to believe his wife knew nothing.
Swinney says the SNP are merely victims. Yet, he has known Murrell for over 30 years and indeed played a part in his appointment as Party Chief Executive. Swinney will have had an insider view of SNP governance during this period, as did Nicola Sturgeon. It is hard to believe there was just one rotten apple in the barrel. It looks like it isn't just the Welsh electorate that contains more than its fair share of sheepie.
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service compiled a full list of items believed to have been purchased with embezzled funds. This was released to the media by the court but is not yet available to the public in full. Here are some items that a wife might know about as listed by various media outlets.

I think we all have to realise that Nicola had no idea where all these things came from in her house. Maybe she thought he worked for Amazon and stored his parcels in their house ? The actual thickness of people who genuinely stand up for her and there’s a few can only be because they’re corruptable too.

People who actually believe that NS wasn't suspicious when a 120k motor home turned up outside her house are either very thick or incredibly naïve .
The majority of politicians are in it for what they can make from those they should be serving.
Well that’s 400k that won’t be spent on a second independence referendum , maybe karma is a real thing .
UK govt needs to stand strong and deny another referendum for Scotland or one for Wales until polls (proper independent ones) show at least a 65% support for it. Scotland shouldn’t be allowed one anyway for a generation at least.

There is growing momentum North of the border to investigate failures in SNP governance and cover ups. Kirsten Oswald and even John Swinney may not be safe.
'Joanna Cherry, who was elected to the body the same year, said Oswald would “actively shut down scrutiny”, acting as a proxy for the party leader and her husband, who was then its long-serving chief executive.
Caroline McAllister, a former SNP councillor who was elected to its NEC as women’s convener in 2020, said Oswald would employ “devious tactics” to ensure those who raised financial matters were shunned in meetings and their questions not addressed.
She recalled Sturgeon and Oswald taking part in a “tirade” against a member of the party’s finance and audit committee who explained that they and two others had resigned because Murrell refused to show them the party’s books.
“Kirsten Oswald acted as an enforcer for Peter Murrell and Nicola Sturgeon,” McAllister said. “Anyone who raised issues around finances would come under attack and she allowed it. She absolutely acted as their stooge.”'
'Harder to explain was the resignation of Douglas Chapman MP as the party’s national treasurer. He said he had not “received the support of financial information required to carry out [his] fiduciary duties.” Questioned about this, the SNP’s deputy leader, John Swinney, told the BBC he did not not understand why Chapman had quit, and he had no knowledge of any police investigation. Nor, it seems, did he think the matter was worthy of any further inquiry.
Even when it emerged that Murrell had been lending the party money to fill some of the gaps in their finances, nothing was done. The Electoral Commission highlighted two loans made by him in 2018, neither of which were reported by the party. Then, in June 2021 he lent a further £107,000 to “assist with cashflow”. Quite what had happened to hollow out that cashflow was not, it seems, discussed.
Instead it was left to the police, who launched Operation Branchform the following month, to investigate the charge of embezzlement.'

Nicola Sturgeon says this is all about blaming a woman for the sins of a man. "I have been misled, I have been lied to and I have been betrayed, and I won’t be the last woman who has been betrayed by her husband.” Many will feel that complaining about sexism only gets a rogue so far.
Nicola came across as totally unbelievable some of her excuses were farcical
Three or four people resigned from the SNP finance committee because they couldn't get the information they needed. As leader of the SNP at that time she says that wasn't her responsibility - unbelievable.
