Anna Turley claimed today on the radio that net migration had fallen by 82%. As you say some of this is due to policies introduced in the final year or two of the last government when they realised things were getting out of control, but the net figure gives an overly positive picture because of the number of people leaving the UK. The latest government figures for the YE May 2026 show that there were 778,626 entering with visas and 43.806 entering illegally without a visa. Piled on top of arrivals from previous years who have yet to integrate that means that the problem remains highly visible. I will think there is something in your argument if all the additional changes proposed by Shabana Mahmood are actually put into legislation. That's net migration. The numbers coming in haven't changed much. They're just being offset by a higher number leaving. Typical manipulation which doesn't take into account the net contribution disparity between the two groups.

Believe it or not I was in Belfast yesterday and I done a troubles tour and walked on Falls road & Shanklin road with the tour and it was just like any other out of town street,both tour guides from each side said they wanted the "peace" wall to come down but the government dont want it to come down and the wall has actually lengthed since the good friday deal.

He was an aircraft engineer originally not a car production line guy. Was selected from thousands for a quite prestigious apprenticeship. He clearly had potential. Could have had a good honest career in a good job if he hadn’t reverted to type and got sacked for assaulting a police officer. His long list of convictions for fraud, violence, drugs, you name it shows he’s far from the moral compass the country needs. | |

He refused to leave his cell for sentencing after being convicted.

More people need to be sent to prison and for longer. I advocate an aggregation of prison sentences for offenders, but for that we'd need to spend billions on prisons.
The only issue with this situation is that if the sentencing in both cases was out of line with sentencing guidelines - I haven't looked but I bet it wasn't
