Like Blatter before him, Infantino's power base lies with the smaller confederations and associations. The more money he sends their way, the richer they (and no doubt a few individuals) get. By sheer volume of numbers they tend to hold sway over UEFA and CONMEBOL, who have the "bigger" footballing nations attached, but not as many votes.
To get rid of Infantino, and let's be honest, FIFA itself needs to be nuked at this point, then there needs to be a split. UEFA at the bare minimum, preferably CONMEBOL as well. If they left FIFA and set up on their own, it's hard to imagine most of the TV and sponsorship money that funds these rackets not going with them. That should then see the rest follow, leaving FIFA with nothing. Hopefully before the indignity of the Saudi World Cup.
The problem then becomes ensuring that any replacement body doesn't eventually morph into FIFA again. |  |
