Mandatory eye tests for drivers over 70 are a very good idea.
Extend it downwards to drivers over 20 as well, but with less frequency. [Post edited 3 Aug 17:01]

I dont agree with it either, i only did it once years ago, realised then it was a no no, in a wy hes unlucky ti be done, but should be.....from my vantage point I see quite a lot daily doing it, and trying to hide it, last week a vehicle went past and he had his folder open on the steering wheel. cases like that should lose theor licence as well as having the vehicle scrapped. |  | | |

Over70 s are not the biggest risk
Insurance stats bear thst out
Young drivers are and always have been the greatest risk
They believe passing a rudimentary test makes them good drivers and that learning is key ver
Biggest factors are lack of experience and poor concentration which leads to lack of ability to anticipate and deal with a hazard
Chuck in several chums and you have an explosive device
Few over 75 s drive doped , drunk or attached to a mobile phone and these are what are killing people , few get road rage, few see a car as a Phallic symbol
God knows , I upset so many young drivers when O stopped them and told them they werenāt really good drivers
Young uns eyesight might be better but they ignore or misinterpret what they do see
Older people are being targeted clearly as are those mugs who have had the foresight to provide for themselves at 75 | |

Because I have ocular hypertension and a history of glaucoma in my family I am lucky enough to be tested at least once a year where they do pressure tests as well as, and more importantly peripheral vision. Mine is 100% but I take drops daily. I donāt have glaucoma. | |
