| Booze Runs to England 15:24 - Oct 1 with 6206 views | dna | Welsh Gov have today incresed the cost per unit of alcohol to 65p This means a can of decent lager or cider containing 2 units cannot be sold in Wales for less than £1.30 I was recently 'over the bridge' and bought boxes Stella 2 x 12 cans for £20 - 83p a can - a saving of 47p per can 10 boxes (120 cans) would mean a saving of £56.40 - thinking of hiring a van!! And like I have previously mentioned i.e. on many fronts we are now seeing stuff at times from 'the left' that is surreal beyond belief. We have and are being governed by E- grade backward yokels that should be nowhere near legislation/government, because a psychiatric ward would be far more appropriate. | |

I can’t play the video where I am but going by the comments there doesn’t seem to be an answer as to why then b-word has been banned. Anyone? I think these things are great because as far as I’m concerned it’s another nail in the useless assembly’s coffins. Vote them out!

Some wag should start using the term " duvet " ,that'll upset the sensibilities of the woke .

Don't the clowns behind these attempts to police language, and bring about what almost amounts to Orwellian thought control, realise they are trying our patience to the extent that we start to think about ropes and lamp-posts.

It does feel nanny state to me. There are some metrics in Scotland that show success of the policy but I’m not sure it did what was intended.
| Booze Runs to England on 18:51 - Oct 1 with 3519 views | builthjack | Yet I could still have got pints for £1.29 in spoons in Brecon today. | |

Not saying it's connected but the death rates due to drugs in Scotland have gone up dramatically in the same period Not sure if people realise but the extra cash raised from minimum alcohol pricing stays with the sellers not a penny back in the coffers of the assembly
| Booze Runs to England on 19:10 - Oct 1 with 3505 views | Demitrius | Agree here broadly. People back in my neck of S Wales will just default to spoons. Last time back before these rises you can still get a massive fry up and a pint for well under an Ayrton Senna before 10am... | |

Basically all the evidence from Scotland suggests that minimum unit price is as big a waste of time as the 20mph limit, but these bastards just won't leave us alone. They know best for us, and will hector us to our deaths about it if needs be.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

I think there was a problem with terminology. As much as I hate it, it is the "default" speed limit (as 30 mph was before the stupid thing happened) and so they are are trying to have a debate and should not use words which are not true because it isn't a "blanket" speed limit. So much of it is complete bollicks. I used to work with Huw years ago - really nice guy.

One of my family who was a student of his said he was more interested in politics than lecturing and turning up for meetings. Possibly you could confirm or deny this and yes I have met him and he was 40 minutes late.

There’s never enough money for them to take from us and piss it up against the wall. Scotland is a real success story when it comes to alcoholism a death by drugs. A true role model to follow.

I can remember Drakeford making supermarkets tape certain products off so customers couldn't buy them during Covid. That man didn't live in the real world. In fact he still doesn't. Do gooder socialists who patronise to the masses, because they know better.
