| Swansea City v West Ham United : Match Thread 13:12 - Oct 14 with 18608 views | ModeratorC | Opta Analyst's supercomputer has given Swansea a 37 per cent chance of winning, while the East London club stand at 36 per cent. The possibility of a draw is 26 per cent, but it could actually be the most likely outcome, given how tight it looks.

Something definitely needs to be done about that. Ref knew exactly what was going on but was powerless to do anything. As you say, we got the ball back, but they had everyone in position for the restart. Let’s just call it what it is, blatant, cynical cheating.

| Swansea City v West Ham United : Match Thread on 11:11 - Oct 18 by union_jack | A great synopsis Richard highlighting what most of us are thinking, that we are spending too much time slowing the game down in our own half and not counter attacking quickly enough. This is why we can’t flood the box because opposition defences, especially one as technically adept as West Ham’s can organise themselves at will. Spot on about Yeo as well. There needs to be more work done to ensure when he goes on his run that support not only for the first pass but subsequent passes are there to pull defences apart. I’m disappointed at yesterday’s result as well could have got a point at least but our profligacy in front of goal has cost us. It’s down to lack of composure in my opinion (in training they’d be burying them) but it wasn’t just yesterday. Other games have seen us make similar mistakes preventing a high scoring win. Goal difference is going to be important this year and I don’t believe we are scoring as much as we could / should. I think Matos has a big week ahead of him. If we as supporters are all seeing much the same thing he needs to be aware also. We have another very tough game ahead of us next week and hopefully they will take some confidence from yesterday and learn from their errors and take it to QPR. |
I did mention in another thread that although as someone pointed yes it’s nice to see other players contributing to our goals we do seem shy when it comes the strikers .Not a criticism but an observation.

Because there’s a highway boundary line which in a lot of cases around the stadium includes the grass verge .It seems the council thrive on the extra income from errant motorists .

| Swansea City v West Ham United : Match Thread on 20:35 - Oct 17 by Whiterockin | Today's attendance 20,973 a new record for the stadium and one more than the previous record. Excuse me for being sceptical but is that true or just marketing ploy. |
Seemed full to me. Far less seating set aside for segregation and the North West corner blocks were released for saleva lot earlier than usual. The only spare seats were the ones reserved for disabled supporters and their helpers. Perhaps once the ground is sold out these tickets could be released for general sale. It will be interesting how many of the "new" supporters will return for the Blackburn match.

It’s not much comfort, but take it as a show of respect. They won’t do that against Preston. The sort of tactic I’d expect from Nathan Jones or Phil Parkinson.

Indeed. It’s not nice when it happens against you but there’s too much at stake in the game these days to play by gentleman’s rules. Although morally ugly it is available to teams and they’ll use it to their advantage wherever they feel it necessary. The authorities are hamstrung to do anything about it because they have to treat each incident as if it’s a serious injury. Can you imagine if the ref lets play go on because they’ve been feigning injury throughout the game but on that occasion he’s broken a bone or been concussed. He’d never ref again. The solution to this is above my pay grade.

If it was down to me it would be an independent medical assessment for a head injury at the very least. If that takes a long time then so be it

a double edged sword because there will be a few who will not bother returning having been ticketed . The council should be encouraging fans not driving them away . The fans put money into the club and revenue for the city . The loss of the parking facilities due to the building of the cable car means there is far less available space - they should be cutting fans some slack not punishing them especially with the cost of fuel the way it is.

A point to be conciderd for everyone in the future. The Highway Code rule: Waiting restrictions indicated by yellow lines extend from the centre of the road all the way to the edge of the highway, which includes the pavement and the grass verge.

| Swansea City v West Ham United : Match Thread on 14:14 - Oct 19 with 1140 views | RichardO | Anybody staying down long enough to stop play should go off except when a clear foul has been committed against them regardless of whether trainers come on or not. I also found it funny how Fulton encouraged Yeo to get up and not to stay down only for him to be awarded nothing after being taken out seconds later, also would question when later Yeo had his legs taken out from under him leaving them up in the air why it wasn't given. Definite a case of the ref giving the ex-premier league team the benefit of the doubt. That often also dictates which team can build forward momentum and which teams can't. | | | |

I thought that players going down for a length of time, were sent to the touchline this season, I was watching a game on the box and saw it happen no trainers came on, wish I could remember what game it was now Might have been a champions league now I come to think of it.

Even then, if we turn them over in the final third. It’s well worth them feigning a head injury to stop play and get nine men behind the ball. Embarrassing low for the biggest team in the championship to stoop to.

It’s a massive sign of respect for us that the team expected to walk the division had to resort to those tactics. The ref was never really going to give anything against them so we can hold our heads up high and go on another good run. I think WHU’s trouble , like wolves and Southampton will be consistency - we certainly have an opportunity to challenge for the top 2. Don’t stop believing!!

I watch the Benjamin Bloom Championship prediction podcast and his opposite number , Geo a west ham fan said we paid them way too much respect. He’s a very even handed pundit who was very pleased with the result after being nervous pre match. We have every right to be where we are.
