Yes, fantastic news if you don't live in London. I do. I'll put the champagne on hold for the time being and reserve judgement. P.S. He had nothing to beat. Zac Goldsmith was an appalling choice by the Conservatives.
Sadiq Khan on 21:52 - May 6 with 2040 views | PozuelosSideys | I had a a leaflet through the door from this one and one from the Green party. Obviously i used them as a mat as i walked in and our of the door, but Sadiq's caught my eye. Big, red and with the slogan along the lines of "boy from the council estate".. great tagline i thought. tw@t.

Sadly the good people of Swansea and Wales voted the useless Labour Party in ahead of the even more useless Tory party. Oh why can't Plaid have a strong leader to wipe the floor with these charlatans

Because they are grossly under represented and with a growing ethnic population we need to utilise as much as possible. The U.K.

Always difficult for a non Labour candidate to win London mayor. BoJo did it on personality. Some of Khan's links raised questions about at best his judgment, some f his answers weren't always accurate either. Tbf Khan does seem fairly moderate for a Labourite these days; the election would have been more interesting if he'd not distanced himself from Corbyn. [Post edited 7 May 2016 17:14]

Always difficult? There have been five Mayoral elections, the score stands at Labour 2 Tories 2 independent 1. Non labour candidates have won three of the five elections. [Post edited 7 May 2016 17:33]

Of course not. They will have many capable in their ranks. The problem is the opportunity is harder.

Always difficult given ion non general election votes, Labour seem to do better than tories. Those stats are somewhat disingenuous given of the 5 elections there have been 3 different mayors. Red Ken twice, BoJo twice and now Khan. The former two won more of personality than anything else.

Not really - what has happened is Labour tend to win handily; BoJo's personality overcame that. For all intents and purposes Red Ken was still a Labourite, just spat the dummy and ran as an independent.
