He suffered a cruciate knee injury and tried to continue playing to help the team. Every other person I have seen with that injury have been stretchered off in pain, sometimes crying, sometimes with oxygen. People accusing him of a lack of enthusiasm/effort baffle me. |  |

Yes, Wilfried was on a contract we couldn't afford, but I wouldn't put him in the same category as the other mercenaries. He never bad mouthed the club, tried to get fit, was generally around to support the team and as far as I could see would have liked nothing better than to score a lot of goals for us. I think he left because he was told in no uncertain terms it was in everybody's best interests. I may be a mug, but still think that if (okay big if) he was fit he'd score goals in the Championship. If Wilf was on a reasonable wage I'd take him back for a season. Perhaps recuperation in a warm climate will do him good, and wherever he goes I'd like to see him have a couple more good years.. | | | |

He was suing the club until the day after he signed his contract which was for an astonishing amount of money for a club of our size without a relegation clause.
