| Was the WRU correct in cancelling today's game? on 12:10 - Mar 14 with 1221 views | ladyjack | The Government were happy for it to go ahead the WRU was in discussions with the Government and it was ok to play following scientific medical advice according to our Government authorities who were saying carry on, but in the end with football in Wales, England and Scotland stopping and other sporting bodies also stopping the WRU must have thought hang about the rest of the World is stopping such events and now UK sports bodies are stopping perhaps we should not go along with Boris and his expert advisers as they seem to be out of sink with everyone else. Either the game goes ahead or you stop fans travelling. As it stands Scottish fans are being caught for Hotel, Travel and other costs. Time for the WRU to refund the total costs these fans have incurred through the WRU'S incompetency and dithering. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Scotland pulled out and refused to play. Left to the WRU the game would have been played. FACT.

That's simply not true. "While fans are understandably frustrated their weekend plans have gone up in smoke, the WRU maintain they have made the correct decision, albeit at a late stage, having tried all avenues to keep the game on for as long as possible. A WRU statement read: “The Welsh Rugby Union has maintained an open dialogue with, and continued to seek advice and direction from, the Welsh Government and other stakeholders, including the Six Nations, on this fast-moving issue. “Whilst medical advice remains consistent, we have decided that it is in the best interests of supporters, players and staff to fall in line with recent measures taken across the UK and global sports industries."

Reading between the lines, England’s cricket tour to Sri Lanka was also cancelled due to the players not wanting any part of it and wanting to be at home with their families. That wasn’t the official reason given of course but then, it wouldn’t be.

It's not news. I knew the game was off a couple of hours before the news but insurance had to sign of before announcement could be made. Scotland refused to participate, that's why the WRU made their decision.

That the Scots refused too play? The WRU have come in for a fair amount of criticism over this late cancellation, so you'd kinda think they'd come out and say the truth if that were the case. Sorry, it's BS.

I'll give you until Monday afternoon If that hasn't come out then you lose, as something as big as that most definitely would by then. But i'm sure you'll be proven correct seeing as you knew hours before it was announced. Go Itchy!

Are you able to give an indication as to the nature f your information, no names etc, just a general pointer. What you have said is very interesting and kind of sits right with me, last week the Dragons played Benetton which was in one of the most effected areas after all their games have been called off (I think playing the game was bonkers) and now this.
