However, for sides wishing to register players for Europe that deadline is now today ( 6th Oct ) of course there has to be the advanced ' deal sheet' paperwork at least signed beforehand. A derisory offer for Swans defender Joe Rodon by Spurs has been knocked back by the club. The offer was believed to be 7 million, but with add ons up to 10.5 million. And lets not forget that 7 million wont be on the table straight away, Daniel Levy's previous negotiations are well known. Part payments could possibly mean half that in the first instance. If that. 0 CLICK ON THE LINK ABOVE FOR THE FULL STORY

| Joe Rodon gets the deadline message from Daniel Levy on 23:15 - Oct 5 with 1857 views | Badlands | Good post. Definitely wouldn't do business with Levy nor would I be looking to make deals with Birch ... at the moment he knows too much about the club. I don't thin Joe is worth what some fans think but anything over £15 million would be very good money. | |

Do you think Godfrey signing for Everton is worth £25 rising to £30 million?

Probably not (Sky have £20 million though others quote £25. But Godfrey does have more experience. Godfrey 30 PL games last season, 157 senior appearances, and (2018 -2020) 26 injury days - 6 games missed. Joe 20 Championship games last season, 74 senior appearances and (2018 -2020) 164 injury days - 31 games missed. TransferMarkt isn't accurate but market value comparisons do give an indication of where players are in the financial pecking order. Before his transfer Godfrey quoted as £14.4 million - Joe £1.80 million. Not fair but stepping back and looking objectively I can see why a club would be prepared to pay more for one the the other.

| Joe Rodon gets the deadline message from Daniel Levy on 11:42 - Oct 6 with 1426 views | trampie | Levy has a reputation for being a tough negotiator, if the Swans do enter any negotiations with him they should not let him dictate the agenda, that would be my advice. | |

A man one needs to front up to and stand firm. Spurs are not the only "big" club that can influence a deal.

Tell Levy, no mucking about it's 20 million straight or 18 million plus CCV. Tell him to make his mind up and come back when he's serious.

I must admit I'm worried the next stage is 'Oh dont worry it is £18m (far too cheap in my book) Thats £7m for Joe and CCV who is worth £11m coming the other way' That's the sort of idiotic deal they might come up with. We dont want CCV, we dont need CCV and we certainly can't afford CCV's salary.

CCV is not in their plans and in his last year, so £2m or so. His salary lasts only for this season then he is in the new opn market. Cooper does not want him anyway. I hope selling Celina and Peterson give Swansea scope to walkaway from any derisory offers if need be.

The reports by Gareth Vincent especially that CCV isn’t in the mix are so far wide of the mark it’s untrue. He is and was very much a part of this. I agree though the Joe Pigott transfer is further away which means he was either a back up for Gyökeres or any due diligence done on him came back negative.

Not keen on replacing Rodon with CCV at all. Nothing against the lad but he was apart of a defence which pretty made sure every corner was like a penalty. Not tall enough, gets dominated aerially, not for me this one. Solid enough player but a replacment for Joe? Shocker.

The nest stage has arrived. Joe for £7m and CCV for £11m. Anyone here would values CCV at £11m. Let’s examine the deal from both sides. Spurs - they pay less than a third of the value for Joe - they get to offload CCV who they have been trying to sell for a few years but nobody will buy. - they get to offload some (cheap for them) PL wages. Us - We sell our best player for less than a third of his value, properly only get about 1/2 of £7m upfront at most - We won’t have enough money from the deal to strengthen the team - We get CCV for a value we wouldn’t have paid for him. -We know CCV isn’t the type of player we would sign to play the way Joe does, good in the air and a ball player CB who loves to defend. - We can’t afford his wages, but nevermind the money we get from selling Joe should just about cover his wages. Overall we sell our best player, can’t strengthen the team and have a player on the books we wouldn’t have signed and can’t afford. This is the deal that is likely to be trotted out, as a great deal for us.

I nearly spat my coffee out when I read the words "anyone here would value CCV at £11m) But the rest of your post is spot on. No chance in a million years should CCV be part of this deal. Not dominant enough, we have Guehi already who is similar to CCV in everything but muscle. If Joe goes, it has got to be for a large fee and we need to reinvest at least some of it into a proven championship centre half, 6 ft 4 or above preferably. If we can't afford to reinvest, as we need the money to safeguard us from the covid stuff, then just bring Cooper back. Atleast he's one of ours.

ccv would be valued around £2m, not sure where you've plucked the 11m figure from! £20m + CCV = deal done

I'd be happier with £20m and no CCV.

And the 'anyone here line...' was being ironic. I see it had the desired effect!

Vincent misses the mark like Yernited defenders miss attacking players. Like most Journos, useless. lazy. Use sites like this to try and write a story

So lets get this right. We have put a price on a player we don't want to lose unless the price is right, and Spurs have come nowhere near the asking price. But they have thrown a player they are desperate to get rid of and expect us to say thank you. Really, we don't need to "get this over the line" Spurs do. Pay up or wait until January and he will go to a club who can afford him.
| Joe Rodon gets the deadline message from Daniel Levy on 08:40 - Oct 9 with 640 views | MartinSwan | Oh lucky us, Spurs are doing us a favour by upping their offer to £13m. That probably means £7m plus CCV valued at £6m. Now if that isn’t a tempting offer, (watch that coffee) then I don’t know what is. Oh wait a minute yes I do it’s £25m no swapsies. Go away Spurs | | | |
