Swans ready to do business : Transfer latest as signings are ready to come in 31st Jan 2021 09:00
Swansea City are negotiating at least three contracts in a bid to get more players in for their promotion push. Another dogged display by the swans beating Rotherham 3-1 in Yorkshire yesterday has ensured Julian Winter CEO has the green light to make at least two, maybe three signings in the next 36 hours or so. 1

If we get two in, let alone three it will be a ringing endorsement of Cooper and the reams efforts this season. And a huge statement of intent to our rivals.
MGW coming back along with Whittaker from Derby would be massive for us. I think we’d have a complete locker of all the components needed to win any game in this division. Dreamland would be MGW and Guehi as permanent signings - Hourihane too if I’m being greedy lol

Chinese whispers. But there’s no smoke without fire and if he’s that much of a distraction at Wolves perhaps they’ll lend him back? He definitely wants to

He is exactly who need to raise our game to yet another level.

Can any of the financial wizards on here make a case, for the right deal vs higher probability PL money ? What could the right deal look like with an acceptable Risk:Reward ratio ?

He is a quality player, but I’m uncertain he would be an automatic choice every game, or if he is, who drops down ?

I would consider changing the system slightly and bench Ayew.

It’s a good point but Cooper would play Ayew with one leg, I’m thinking he won’t change a system that has served him so well to date.

I was thinking normal back 5 then Grimes and Fulton holding with Hourihane and MGW more advanced with Lowe a floating number 9. The width would be provided by the wing backs as normal.

Interesting article Keith - clearly our league position & chance of going up generates a wider range of options both for us & the linked players.

Suspect Whittaker is a combination of Cullen cover & one for the future pending Ayew’s departure in the summer & Morris’s potential return to the States. Arriola still looks like a fall back option to me but noting geographic & Covid distractions suspect we need to make a final call on that by cob today.

Whilst I’d like to see MGW back I can only see that as a loan option, maybe with a buy option in the summer if we were to go up.

Still think we need RWB cover, if Robert’s got injured our current system would be very one-sided.

Not linked currently but Joey Allen is down to his last 17 months on contract & Stoke are going nowhere this season - maybe one for the summer.

Good point regarding t the rther weird number of totally left footed players we have.

Being already a small team, fail to see why are looking to bring in another under physical player. This is a tough league.

The Roberts thing is a good spot, our only real option if he did get injured is Naughton who blows hot and cold, that’s definitely something I can see remedying in the next two days. Jazz must be checking his phone every two seconds, but for me that’s flawed, although he can play both sides. He isn’t good enough.

Whittaker is almost done, although salary could come in to it. For me that’s the Cullen replacement on paper but Cooper is clearly keen to sign him, he is lightening quick.

No Joe links at all, and I don’t expect him to rejoin at any time. Just a feeling.

Dhanda.

MGW would slot in perfectly to our preferred system.

Thanks - I’m just about ok with Nauts as either RB in a 4 or RCB in our usual formation but definitely not as a RWB.

To be fair the Hourihane signing has added more goal threat from our midfield 3 so WBs not quite so critical but I’d still like cover, have you heard anything further on Sorinola I see he played & scored yesterday so I guess not planning to move this window?

Whittaker , from what I've read and Derby comments, is a carbon of Garrick.
Not sure the Derby man would be an understudy for Ayew, certainly not if gain promotion.

Agree with all of this except for the part on Joe Allen. That ship has long sailed. Bad injury and past his best by far. Stoke fans would like to see the back of him. he gets a hell of a lot of pelters on their board.

It's quite easy as he's one of the few whose comments are based on observation and rational thinking.

Indeed, however back on track, I'm surprised we are in for anyone to be honest. Seems like the Americans are doing a good job after all in backing SC.

Since when has being a football fan been based on rational thinking. It clouds the judgement loke very little else and that is half the appeal.

Nowhere near the pace of Garrick but technically better (touch, technique etc) is what I’m guessing.

It’s an odd one I’ve got to admit. Richy getting pelters on this thread but the lightweight nature of the kid is an issue for me. Needs bulking, which can be done of course.

Yes they do seem to be getting there house in order have tried to rebalance the books and are now slowly building us up again.

Credit where it's due.

We definitely seem to be in a good place as a club at the moment, despite what some would have us believe.

I don't want Joe Allen back, not now.

If MGW came back then Dhanda drops from the bench but that still means MGW being on the bench...or Grimes, Fulton or Hourihane. It would be a strong midfield for sure.

We can always do with more pace, if Whittaker is that quick and ha the potential then why not?

I seriously question any idea of changing the system now, if it works why fix it? If we changed system and our season fell apart...

At the end of the season Ayew is gone isn't he? IS that why Whittaker? In which case will the new striker (assuming he's coming) going to get game time and so Ayew will be subbed off more. We'd need Whitts up to speed for next season wherever we are. Morris won't be here.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?
