| BBC News at 10 22:29 - Aug 29 with 3413 views | britferry | The main headlines, some US actor who before his death today, I'd never heard of... really, isn't there any other news more important than this? If he had died 3 months ago, I doubt it would have even made the news. Oh yeah, he wasn't white. Sad that he's gone so young but hardly headline news in the UK with everything else we have on our plates. | |

| BBC News at 10 on 22:35 - Aug 29 with 2278 views | Kerouac | I disagree with this one. If Andrew Garfield (Spiderman) died I reckon it would be headline news...not that I think any celebrity death is more worthy than other news stories, it's just that, in reality, that would be the case. People will play politics with it no doubt, but I just think 'Poor Sod', such a waste. Seemed like a good person too, from what I've read. | |

He's pretty darned famous, if only for being Black Panther. It's the celebrity driven culture we live in and to be fair, he made the cover of Time which is just a tad famous, https://time.com/black-panther/

Not sure how statistics can be used to counter your unsubstantiated claim. Why do you his think post is symptomatic of all others'? I for one disagree with the OP. I think their coverage is consistent with their output and it's tragedy to die so young. He was a leading light in a clearly-defined social movement. But above all I thoroughly applaud his stoicism and bravery. Reminds me of Bowie on his album Black Star. Art at all costs. [Post edited 30 Aug 2020 12:54]

I’ve posted on my personal experiences in Ireland recently, trying to put some context on people’s political viewpoints using Ireland to promote them. I didn’t use stats mind, just personal experience. I think people on all groups and forums do need to understand a variety of opinions will never be the opinion of a whole site. But as I’ve said if we have to endure opinions from thirty years ago be they labour or Tory, then we have to endure them all.

And there lies the answer, personal experience. That's all you can relate to when expressing an opinion. [Post edited 30 Aug 2020 14:48]

Personal experiences are the biggest factor in who we are and what we believe. We can watch the news, read many sources but our take on what we see and read will always be influenced by who we are.

| BBC News at 10 on 19:39 - Aug 30 with 1898 views | britferry | Let me defend and clarify my OP, I hate the f'ing BBC with their bourgeois leftist do-gooders who are out to appease the BLM by becoming their national mouth-piece. Chadwick Boseman might have been a fine actor but I have never heard of him and I would say the majority of the UK didn't have a clue who he was either. I would also say the majority of the UK have never seen Black Panther either. So why is the death of a semi-famous foreign actor our national news headline story? If it had been Denzil Washington, Halle Berry, Wesley Snipes, Whoopi Goldberg or a Morgan Freeman, then I could understand it but Chadwick's sad demise would have never been the headline news 3 months ago but its now the policy of the BBC to show us news that is heavily tilted towards the coloured community, as that's the "in thing". And what really really makes my blood boil, is that I have to pay a licence fee to these idiots so they can ram their views on the world down our throats day after day. rant over | |

My 11 year old son saw the story on the news feed on his phone and shouted to me, dad, black panthers died. I think far more people than you realise know who he was. The marvel films are very popular, Black Panther is the highest grossing solo superhgero film and the 9th highest grossing film of all time.

Plus he’s in Avengers Endgame, the highest grossing film of all time and Infinity War which comes in at number 6 of all time I think.

You tw@t. The BBC virtually hand the keys of no. 10 to Boris and the Tories and you’re calling them left wing!! Priceless mate. The BLM has taken root everywhere, not just the BBC! I suppose they’re probably terrified as being portrayed as a racist organisation - that’s the reason for the coverage . Definitely no left wingers in there.
