The overwhelming majority of players wages come from TV rights, commercial or corporate sponsorship money which people voluntary pay for, so the idea of players ripping off poor communities like some olden day robber baron is hopelessly out of date.

Why is it sickening? Salah earning more doesn't raise the minimum wage. John Henry's net worth increased from $2.8bn to $3.6bn in less than a year, when was the last time he put in a solid 90 minute shift for the Liverpool fans to enjoy? They were all set to join a Euro Super League last year.

These wage demands aren't unreasonable in the current scheme of things. I have to say though, this is just utterly mad, football stars getting so much and then it being demonstrated that actually, it's cheap!!!
How about football, all sport really, cuts wages to the grossly overpaid 'stars' and instead cuts the prices? Footballers could still earn a very good wage, but the ticket prices could be very much cheaper too.

Barcelona caused it's own problems by continuing to spend and expecting the league to change the FFP rules to suit them as they go. It's not "greedy players" to blame, but owners and presidents who spend beyond their means and earn fat stacks off the back of others talent and hard work. Barcelona are still spending. No player forced them to buy Ferran Torres for £45m. They couldn't even register him until Umtiti agreed a paycut yesterday.
If everyone earned only what they need then the world would be a much better place. But it's not footballers to blame for the rising price of football. Like any worker Salah should be entitled to ask for fair compensation for the value of his labour, and as one of the best players in the world that value is very high.
