| Mo Sala wants a million pounds a month after tax on 22:27 - Jan 11 with 1403 views | majorraglan | The princely sum of £22,392,000 per calendar year. That’s probably more than the Swans entire turn over ( excluding parachute payments) per year. | | | |
| Mo Sala wants a million pounds a month after tax on 22:39 - Jan 11 with 1381 views | jasper_T | The company brings in £500m a year. They spent £36m on a new defender in the summer. £12m a year to one of their best players, and one of the best players in the world, seems entirely reasonable. | | | |

Scary when you put it like that, how much would he cost to replace, a hell of a lot more than 12million with no guarantee of success, Salah has been doing it for years, just have to hope he doesn't do a Grimes after signing

For comparison, Patrick Mahomes is on nearly £31m per year. Lewis Hamilton's latest deal with Mercedes is £40m a year. £12m for Salah is actually pretty cheap.

Hitting 30 in 5 months so little or no sell on value, if true think that’s a non starter - might be able to work a large re-signing fee plus more realistic wages. Otherwise FSG might decide they can exit him in the summer & move on. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

As much as I want the club to play at the highest level it can, it's one of the things I don't miss about the Premier League. The money clubs will always have the upper hand.

On the other hand £12m a year for maybe another 3-4 years is a lot cheaper than finding a replacement.

Utter pure greed. Its worse when these players bleed for the community/poor/fans/disabled/disadvantaged who love the club they play for. Crawl away son

The players aren't bleeding their communities. It's only fair that footballers earn the lion's share of what football earns. They're what everyone is paying to see. What do you think happens if Salah says "there's too much poverty in Liverpool so I'll work for £1m a year instead"? That makes the Fenway group richer, not the people of Liverpool. Labour making sacrifices to make capital richer, while fans continue to suffer. Footballers pay their taxes and many (Salah included) donate loads to charities around the world.

Jasp Salah has often "bled" for the poor over there. To demand that money whilst at the same time earning more in a hour what most get in a long time is just sickening. My opinion. Footballers live in a dream world

| Mo Sala wants a million pounds a month after tax on 11:34 - Jan 12 with 984 views | Dr_Winston | The overwhelming majority of players wages come from TV rights, commercial or corporate sponsorship money which people voluntary pay for, so the idea of players ripping off poor communities like some olden day robber baron is hopelessly out of date. We're a long way past the age of players having to catch the same bus as supporters to games and have been for some time. | |

Why is it sickening? Salah earning more doesn't raise the minimum wage. John Henry's net worth increased from $2.8bn to $3.6bn in less than a year, when was the last time he put in a solid 90 minute shift for the Liverpool fans to enjoy? They were all set to join a Euro Super League last year. Top footballers should be rinsing the big clubs for every penny they can get.

Fans pay to watch the whole team though so maybe the whole team should be on the same wages? These wage demands aren't unreasonable in the current scheme of things. I have to say though, this is just utterly mad, football stars getting so much and then it being demonstrated that actually, it's cheap!!! How about football, all sport really, cuts wages to the grossly overpaid 'stars' and instead cuts the prices? Footballers could still earn a very good wage, but the ticket prices could be very much cheaper too. How much does it cost to watch F1? Let's face it, why does Salah need this pay rise? it's not because he's broke and needs the money, it's all about appearances and stature within the game. He wants to be up there on 'galactico' wages. No wonder even a team as big as Barca can have money troubles.

If you cant see why then its pointless me expanding . Footballers,Ive heard it said ,are part of the community. They say so themselves. No player ,no sportsman should express their love of a Club then DEMAND money he doesnt need. I would suggest 300k per week EVERY WEEK is sufficient Note Salah doesnt want to pay TAX as his fans do.

Barcelona caused it's own problems by continuing to spend and expecting the league to change the FFP rules to suit them as they go. It's not "greedy players" to blame, but owners and presidents who spend beyond their means and earn fat stacks off the back of others talent and hard work. Barcelona are still spending. No player forced them to buy Ferran Torres for £45m. They couldn't even register him until Umtiti agreed a paycut yesterday. If everyone earned only what they need then the world would be a much better place. But it's not footballers to blame for the rising price of football. Like any worker Salah should be entitled to ask for fair compensation for the value of his labour, and as one of the best players in the world that value is very high. He'd be worth £100m to a Championship team eyeing promotion. If Liverpool don't value him someone else will.

No Liverpool obviously will, as it will be of no concern of Sala as he has stated the figure he wants after tax. The tax side of the deal will be solely Liverpool's responsibility.
