I’m happy with any manager doing the right thing by the club.
If that’s Russell Martin then fantastic, I don’t hold a grudge… but I don’t accept mediocrity and someone happy to be middle of the road with one of the best squads in the division. I also don’t accept a managers continual need to lay foundations for future failure and also a penchant to bring disharmony to the club with his misuse of the media.
If Russ was sacked tomorrow I would completely understand why and support that decision. Two seasons of underperformance, poor media handling and constant blame shifting. I’d not shed any tears.
I don’t think he will however, so it’s up to him to show he can learn and understands why his process didn’t work, as opposed to pretending it has.
It didn’t work, it hasn’t worked, it will never work - let’s hope his latest pivot away from it lasts… because if it doesn’t, neither will he. | |

The biggest issue is that Martin almost certainly knows and has always known full well how to fix the poor runs of form. If a gang of idiots like us on the interwebs can work it out then someone paid to manage a club should be even more capable.
Yet he hasn't.
We spent months playing like shit and picking up rare points because of sheer arrogance and obstinacy until eventually the pressure got to much and he changed it, like he could have in November. Even then he and his followers tried and continue to try to put the blame on the January transfer window.
I'm not sure I trust him in the long term not to do it again. I'm not sure we should be giving precious resource to someone with a track record of flogging a failed style instead of admitting failure and doing what he knew would work for the club and players available. [Post edited 3 May 2023 7:54]

it would be nice to have some Club stability , we're currently a Championship Club which should have ambition with to do better ,that ambition has to be driven by the owners and the Manager (who ever that is) imo ,I'm not sure both have what it takes to achieve promotion but are happy with our position in the football league structure . I want what's best for the Club and if that means Martin stays or goes I have to trust those with the clout to n make the right decisions | |

Stability is a major thing especially considering our size in comparison to quite a few other teams in this league.
There is also a fine line of success and failure and you need people who are able and ready to act when it's needed.
Hopefully going forward this new guy coming in, he has an excellent reputation for it, he really gets things in place. |  |

There is no gang culture on here we have been told this in the past
Like others I see no gang wanting Russ gone some critics of him yes including myself....and yes whilst results have improved of late why did it take him so long to change things back to a system that worked well last season too after a dismal run.
I am not looking for his head if he continues with the formation and football we have seen of late I am happy for him to remain BUT the way some portray him as this great footballing guru needs to stop and the rookie manager there are rookie managers like Michael Carrick who have yet to have a full season in management yet have taken their clubs into the playoffs despite them being in the bottom third when they arrived and with no preseason.
I am sure the club would find someone to replace him should he still be here next season he will be the longest serving manager for many a year up until now the average length is 2 seasons | |

Doing well ,for me,tends to suggest achievement of some kind.
Double doubling Cardiff City was nice but not really significant in the grand scheme of things .
We have seen horrific goals conceded repeatedly, endless meaningless passing and teams well beaten and we simply take our foot off the gas.
