Piroe destined to leave Swansea City 8th Jul 2023 07:00
It’s a bit like buying a house this player transfer window. Ellis Simms moves to Coventry and that collapses Joel Piroe’s potential swap move to Merseyside, and that is a good example. However, despite that being the case it seems Everton are still comfortable with the money it will cost to sign the Dutchman. 1

If the club has a good idea how much money we are more than likely to get and want to hold out for the best offer, do we then look to make another couple of signings before the "We Now Got Loads of Money Come Rip Us Off" signs get illuminated?
Or
Would that be too risky counting on money we do not yet have and if we did spend that amount of money would that undermine what we could get for Piroe with the buying clubs knowing how much we had spent on replacements?
Or
Do we say what the heck! wait and rely on a bidding war for Piroe to match our valuation?

Would be nice to know how Duff rates the squad and youngsters he has at his disposal at the moment taking into account expected outgoings.

The wait until the money is in the bank with these yanks has hindered us massively and highlighted massively with the Siggy deal that eventually paid a big part in our relegation......its been a regular theme since in regards to the money being in the bank and this needs to stop if we want to be progressive.

This one should be of interest to us all given the words from them that they intend to not make the same mistakes they did before.

Does the fact we have a new investor give us a little bit of room for cautious flexibility?

Unless I have missed the outcomes we still have two cases with arbitration, RM and Josh Key how long do these cases take. There is quite a considerable amount of money involved here, about £500K for Key outward and in the region £1M-£2M inwards for Martin as its arbitration both have to be settled immediately. A great deal of number crunching needs to be done in the transfer window, without the what if this player leaves scenario.

Key will be pronto.

You have to wait for deals to conclude at our level, you can't go spending what you don't have yet.

Even when you know, you never know?

Indeed.

We could go and spend £3/4m on a Piroe replacement and then find that actually he's not going to move this window and wants to leave on a free instead. So in reality when you factor in the lost fee we're £14m down instead of £6m up. Huge numbers.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Quite right, I would certainly expect a bit of pro active forward thinking where it has not been previous here, learning from mistakes.

Not all eggs in one basket here with Piroe, making the moves whilst rather than afterwards with replacements/acquisitions with potential financial income.

Gyokeres has just gone for 20 million with the number of clubs interrsted in Piroe could we get anywhere nee that fee.

Both have a year left on their contracts.

I think Gykores had a 12 month optional extra on top so that would change things.

Personally I think after a bit of thought on it, I think if we got 12M then we would have done well.

Why, what has Gorky done that Piroe hasn't? been enough incidences of us selling ourselves short to have learnt the lesson by now!

Nothing but the fact that with that optional extra 12 months available with Gykores, it meant he basically he had 2 years left on his contract rather than 12 months as with Joel.......changes the whole picture and adds a little extra on the value.

Can't find any confirmation that Coventry had an extra years option on Gyokeres.

In any case, a player is only worth what someone else is prepared to pay for them. If nobody is willing to part with more than £10m for Piroe, then that is what he is worth, regardless of the kinds of fee that other players are going for.

Much as people did for months over the Joe Rodon deal, we can fantasise as much as we like that players are worth £20m or more, but that don't make it so.

I could be wrong with that 12 month option, if it is wrong then it does change the valuation situation.

Being a full international may also add a couple of quid on the valuation.

In my opinion Piroe is a better finisher but Gyökeres is a better all round striker but it only really matters what another club is willing to pay.

One of the great myths. Why not congratulate the US people for great work in selling. Swansea always sell well.

They got £11m for Rodon who was roasted by Armenians recently and unable to hold don a first team place at Spurs or in France. "Not enough" say fans. "Way too cheap".

If that was the case Swansea can buy have back for £11m. Swansea would offer £2.5m max. Spurs will probably shift him for £5-6m somewhere.

The problem was not the delay but the poor work of the chairman and his advisor Ledbetter in not getting better replacements lined up. Their recruitment was poor They had run out of gas. Potter's man McCaully was worse. The US owners pulled the plug before he could do more damage.

"These Yanks" is pejorative. when you see these words the tripe is coming. Reynolds's mate in Wrexham is new "this Yank".

Hardly a myth....it happened and all that happened in the meantime was down to their decisions that clearly from your account was still mistake after mistake, from advisor to Mcauley mistakes were being made one after another by the powers who be.

A yank is a yank regardless if they are doing bad or not.....its decided to be tripe by the person unwilling to see or not able to accept outside their own vision or thought.
