What we need is a socialistic/communistic experiment to play out Trampie's call for action. Let's get the world to approve such a place for folks that have these beliefs to start this experiment on a lush, green island with enough electricity, farm land for crops and livestock, roads for transporting goods, and all the things needed for a society to be successful but led by a communist/socialist leader to implement "Socialist or even Communist economic policies". I believe that mixed economies work and absolutely reject socialism per se but we do have classic examples of socialism in the UK with, in the main, public provided schools and healthcare, fire services and public roads. |  |

Schooling is paid for. The NHS is paid for. Everything is paid for. Nothing is truly free. We all pay for it but some people pay more than others which generally is fine if you can afford it but more and more people are being dragged into the bracket where they can’t afford it despite working full time 50 hours a week when others could work but choose not to, sit on their arse all week, have all the free time in the world and get everything handed to them. It creates an inherent unfairness and people are getting squeezed more and more to pay for it all. | |

They don't get everything handed to them though. Certainly many get more than they would be able to afford if they worked full time and that is an inherent weakness in our welfare system but they don't get a yacht in the marina, a condo in Marbs or a Lambo in the garage (unless they are Dd's and on benefits)
Private school can cost 50K a year per child so the state school is seen as free at source as is the NHS. Your points don't fall on deaf ears and I have my own ideas on how to deal with those people. | |
