| Keith - this Forum 12:05 - Dec 7 with 4310 views | 9MilesHigh | This isn't a football forum anymore is it? For as long as you leave the Brexit thread and others fester you will attract the same type of ....... Politics has always played a bit part role in any forum but was always massively secondary to why we are all here in the first place - the Swans. Now, you get certain idiots who haven't got the slightest interest in the football and are only here to spread their right wing muck, conspiracy theories and shite propaganda. Around and around and around again. Let's face it, they could deny the holocaust on here couldn't they, dipping into the their nasty little echo chambers for any snippets of propaganda or news which would add more fuel to their bile. This used to be for Swans fans to talk about SCFC. It's anything but now. Just my tuppence worth.

Oh yeah, I get that, but this site is dominated by politics and Brexit
| Keith - this Forum on 12:29 - Dec 7 with 1884 views | Glossolalia | Keith - some bad men have differing views to me. Can you shut it all down and conflate their points of view with those of Stalin and Mao? 😠It's all too much to handle. How am I expected to click on the Football Only thread. The fact that Brexit and COVID appear to be the 2 most important things happening in the UK at the moment seems to have passed you by. | | | |
| Keith - this Forum on 13:09 - Dec 7 with 1829 views | 9MilesHigh | I know there's a football only forum but I guess it's what someone wants from an enterprise isn't it. Do they want this to be a Swans site with other stuff including politics or do they want a political site with a smattering of football. There's 10 times as many political posts as football ones and some of the goading, conspiracy theories and right wing agenda setting is depressing, because everyone likes to dip their toes into non football stuff. But not to the extent where it dominates the bandwith. It's probably me, probably just outgrown the whole format of it and you just can't get away from it all, can you. Even on a football forum it's the same old bullsh1t. | | | |
| Keith - this Forum on 13:55 - Dec 7 with 1781 views | Dr_Parnassus | I haven’t seen a single comment on here that I thought was pretty scummy, apart from those labelling good people racists and fascists because they dare to disagree with them and their extreme leftist rhetoric. But then that’s more the social norm these days of knee jerk panic and the inability to put ones view across and instead prefer conflict. But then I don’t read every thread so concede I may have missed some. The moment you start telling people what they can and can’t post about and what views they can and can’t have then this forum dies, in fact, any forum that does that dies and was why the last one did. Unless you followed the status quo you were gone. Threads are clearly marked so you can pick and choose what to read and what suits you. It seems more a case of people wanting to shape other people’s views and stop them from having their own as opposed to disagreeing with the topics themselves being discussed. Take the brexit thread for example, it bores me to tears, think I’ve clicked on it once in all the years it’s been here, which seems like forever - just don’t click on it. | |

Well they have merged in a way haven’t they. Politics and sport has always been kept fairly seperate, now even sport has been politicised in this bonkers year of 2020 where norms have been thrown out of the window in favour of virtue.. well, the “right kind” of virtue anyway, one that doesn’t harm the brand.

I would like to think I could back anything up I say and admit if I was wrong. In person. But mate, we all know you're a complex character, but it seems you're a pretty dangerous one as well. I got you wrong and - lesson learned for me.

Dating back to when? The argument more than stacks up if you look at the last few years - or more importantly the last few weeks. The Swans are 2 points off the top, the last time we were so close to a hopeful promotion to the EPL, the non football board and especially the divisive politics would have been non-existent. You seem to enjoy it though. Says a lot about you.

Dangerous? Aye clearly. You push away everyone who disagrees with you politically, you have said as much. That’s your choice. But the more extreme your political views get and the narrower your scope of what aligns with those thoughts the less people you will have around. Two of my best mates are staunch leftists, we often have great conversations and never a crossed word. You like people to fit into your box, and aye that’s not something I ever am likely to do in order to appease someone so yes you probably made an error of judgement if you ever thought I would. Ah well.

| Keith - this Forum on 16:19 - Dec 7 with 1604 views | DJack | Peoples livelyhoods are in flux with many people either made redundant or are under the constant fear/threat of redundancy. Added to this are the periodic restrictions on our lives with the lockdowns. Our focus is elsewhere and centered on our visceral fear for our friends and family and the thoughts of when will this end. Personally I'm still working, still in reasonable health and I'm taking some care with my exposure risks (within reason) but to me football/the swans may as well be a region of the moon at the moment. Until i can get back into the stadium there is one hell of a disconnect and anything football related is relegated to a low position in my personal hierarchy of needs. The football and it's associated madness will return but for the moment we are at rest. | |

Do you have me in mind, perhaps you do? I don’t venture over to the football page that often and partake in the amateur punditry as the world wouldn’t stop spinning on its axis if I don’t lend an opinion as to whether we should employ a flat back four on Saturday or not? It’s probably a better place for my abstinence. I come on the non-football page to use it as a sounding board to gauge opinion by positing views and making observations on subjects that I consider worth the effort. Like what? Well I can give you a good instance from earlier today that set me on edge. I spent ten minutes or so cooing over the £10,000 watches in Ernest Jones when not a hop-skip-and-jump away on leaving the Quadrant I came across a girl not much older than my own who was freezing and clearly sleeping rough. That’s what motivates me, that’s what makes me angry: there’s something badly wrong, obscenely wrong with a system, a society where conspicuous consumption is juxtaposed with destitution and the hundreds of others passing that way at the same time didn’t even notice. The kid was invisible. That’s more important to me than football. I’d rather talk about that.

Maybe in London, but not in every market town and small provincial city in the land, as is the case now.
