This isn't a football forum anymore is it?

For as long as you leave the Brexit thread and others fester you will attract the same type of .......

Politics has always played a bit part role in any forum but was always massively secondary to why we are all here in the first place - the Swans.

Now, you get certain idiots who haven't got the slightest interest in the football and are only here to spread their right wing muck, conspiracy theories and shite propaganda.

Around and around and around again. Let's face it, they could deny the holocaust on here couldn't they, dipping into the their nasty little echo chambers for any snippets of propaganda or news which would add more fuel to their bile.

This used to be for Swans fans to talk about SCFC. It's anything but now.

Just my tuppence worth.

"I spent ten minutes or so cooing over the £10,000 watches in Ernest Jones when not a hop-skip-and-jump away on leaving the Quadrant I came across a girl not much older than my own who was freezing and clearly sleeping rough. That’s what motivates me, that’s what makes me angry: there’s something badly wrong, obscenely wrong with a system, a society where conspicuous consumption is juxtaposed with destitution and the hundreds of others passing that way at the same time didn’t even notice. The kid was invisible."

Well said. I have similar experiences with increasing & depressing frequency.

I'm sure it wasn't as bad as this 10/20/30 years ago. Maybe in London, but not in every market town and small provincial city in the land, as is the case now.

It's been many years since I've been in Neath, but what you say doesn't surprise me.

I expect the current government's slashing of Housing Benefits for people under 25 might have something to do with it.

But, that's a political statement, and is the exact opposite of what this thread is meant to be about.

Re. The OP, I never comment on the footy these days simply because I don't actually witness it anymore, either on tv or in the real world.

Once Covid is out of the way I'll be back to watching the Swans whenever they play in the Midlands and North. Then I'll be able to to bore/irritate/enrage posters on that side of the forum as well as this side 😊

When Risca posted that you were making a comeback, i said in that thread that you won't be on here for long, due to this board becoming what it is, and everything you hate about society being the flavour of the posters here. It is a festering right wing echo chamber, it's too far gone to change now. I have no idea why i keep coming back here, more out of habit than anything i suppose. All the posters I like are over on the other board, but i don't get on with the layout over there.

I hope that Keith makes a success out of it, for obvious reasons.

If there is something i want to post about, i post it, whether it be on this board or the other one. I don't cry on one board about the other, i go there directly if something tickles my fancy. You should try it.

It is a pointless exercise arguing with anyone on this site, nobody is willing to shift position on anything. I'll generally post what i have to say, then leave the posters slathering for attention in their replies. Now and again i will entertain taking it further, but that is when i am bored.

Well I've disagreed with Dr P plenty of times. We'd had quite few exchanges. What I find more dangerous than his opinions is the idea that if you don't like what someone is saying you should have to right to take their voice away, deplatform them.

In a democracy everyone has the right to be heard up until they say things that are against the laws of the land.

There is a word for people who would deny others their freedom of speech.

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

Wrongly attributed to Voltaire, actually said by Evelyn Beatrice Hall in 1906 and it should be as true today as when first said.

If this was really a right wing echo chamber there would be no posts disagreeing with things said and there have been plenty of disagreements.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Funny, when it was a Rabid Left wing forum the left were happy because they could insult, bully, abuse and gang up on any individual who argued with their position.
Now that there are a couple of us who argue with them they moan to the owner.
A right bunch of wusses.

That's a fair point too, pre Keith there was a lot of mindless abuse, it's much more polite now. More actual debate and less name calling.

Any type of debate is welcome on here as long as it doesn’t contain threats, abuse towards another person or language that you wouldn’t use in front of your kids, young family etc ... to an extent anyway.

I don’t know how else to put it, as to the content of what is on here, I’m pretty sure that can be changed by putting new content on here. Which is everyone’s right to do. Personally from the feedback I get, and I had no involvement with Phil on here before sept 16th. Phil went his own way and is doing a great job on his site, this one was dying and about to get pulled. We have slowly grown the site by introducing stories daily, features and news. It is after all only a website. As for who this website attracts, I hope it attracts every type of person, not one single minded person or thought process.

And on the website, I won’t tempt fate but the viewing figures, because of the stories mostly are seriously decent, second only to the official site. Did you know three years ago three million views a month was normal ? Something is going right, and I’m open to any suggestions, however getting rid of people because of their opinion isn't one of them.

Enter in to debate with people or ignore them, it’s what I’ve been doing for years now. Life is too short to be bothered. Trust me.Thanks to you all for your continued support.

Dating back to when? The argument more than stacks up if you look at the last few years - or more importantly the last few weeks.

The Swans are 2 points off the top, the last time we were so close to a hopeful promotion to the EPL, the non football board and especially the divisive politics would have been non-existent.

You seem to enjoy it though. Says a lot about you.

Figures for news stories beat the football forum in to second place, the non football forum is well third by a long way, and the music / gigs one as expected is fourth. I would see this picking up come some sense of being able to go out starts again 👍

I see posts and threads as an insight in to the persons mindset, they reflect their opinions, and everyone I read on there has more than enough about them to put an opinion across and talk about it.Thats how I see it.

On other matters, surely the news content, latest features, Matchday threads and post match reports ( some LIVE from the stadium) are some of the reasons for your constant returning ? I say that as I see no other website doing that for Swansea City fans with an open forum thereafter to discuss matters ? Our swans news content far outweighs any other website. IMO that is. I’m uncertain why a non football forum on a football website should be that of a concern. Unless,of course folk want to change it.

And I will add, our photos from games are the best I’ve seen, they are all licensed from Reuters and we include quite a lot after each game. Ok, that’s it. I’m finished 👍

I'd say you probably come back here because it's anything but an echo chamber of any sort. It's a forum with a range of views that get discussed, for the most part, in a grown up manner without the need for petty name-calling.

The non-football board on the other site just seems to be boring forum games and constant bitching about this site. I'm guessing that probably gets boring after a while.

I suppose the covid posts are fine though? Perhaps you could enlighten us on this topic being valid on a Swans forum.

I haven’t seen a single comment on here that I thought was pretty scummy, apart from those labelling good people racists and fascists because they dare to disagree with them and their extreme leftist rhetoric. But then that’s more the social norm these days of knee jerk panic and the inability to put ones view across and instead prefer conflict. But then I don’t read every thread so concede I may have missed some.

The moment you start telling people what they can and can’t post about and what views they can and can’t have then this forum dies, in fact, any forum that does that dies and was why the last one did. Unless you followed the status quo you were gone.

Threads are clearly marked so you can pick and choose what to read and what suits you. It seems more a case of people wanting to shape other people’s views and stop them from having their own as opposed to disagreeing with the topics themselves being discussed. Take the brexit thread for example, it bores me to tears, think I’ve clicked on it once in all the years it’s been here, which seems like forever - just don’t click on it.

Which is what I have done since it’s inception.

It really isn’t that hard.

I've read and / or posted in one matchday thread i think. I don't read news content or articles and the suchlike, not on this site or any other, I find it a pain reading long pieces on a screen. I'm the same in work, anything more than a few paragraphs, get's printed out. These forums were a good crack 10 years ago, people just shooting the shit, be that football or any other subject. Maybe times were simpler then.

It is absolutely a football forum first and foremost. This forum (along with SwansTV) has been the next best thing to going to the Liberty and away matches. Having a chat with like minded Swans fans about football stuff. And the quality of football posts has rocketed in the last few days thanks to the OP.

Me and my mates don't go to the Liberty for a chat with Swans fans about Brexit. If it pops up in conversation over a pint fair enough but it's not the focus. The same is true re visiting this forum, football is the focus.

The football content on this forum is unrivalled. I see Planetswans is also upping it's game which can only be a good thing for Swans fans.

(The biggest threat to Keith fulfilling his goals with this forum is unwanted, puerile abuse from interlopers intent on wreaking havoc with twisted agendas. It's pretty obvious who they are, a constant menace, bullying and attacking in packs. Thank heck Keith is brandishing the red cards)

Pro free speech and alternative opinions - Anti gang-bullying and poor modding thereof - Will always make a stand against those who consistently choose to turn a blind eye
