I am very often the first to defend referees. I have been a referee myself. It’s an incredibly difficult and thankless job and you are often open to abuse and threats of physical violence. We are all human and we all make mistakes. However, by being human we are all affected by emotion, pride, spite etc. So I cringed when I heard the song “the ref is losing 1:0” ringing around the stadium. I have known referees that after receiving abuse off a player or an irate person on the sidelines will then give decisions against that guys team out of spite and openly brag about it afterwards. Obviously this is at a much lower level but I imagine the egos amongst the top refs are exponentially larger as well. And watching him walk off with a smirk on his face confirmed it for me. Yes referees are human but for 90 minutes+ they're paid a handsome amount to do a job , to apply the laws of the game , without fear nor favour. Yesterday was blatant example of one mans ineptitude and yes I'll say cheating , if he was wasn't sure sure then he had a linesman directly in line with the 3rd Liard incident , why not consult him .Taking aside the two penalty shouts a lot of the his decision making was at least suspect if not at times comical . We're not talking about a game at Mynydd Newydd where the poor sap gets £10 , a professional game deserves a professional performance from those who should be above any suspicion of an agenda or favouritism, we didn't see that yesterday nor on previous occasions when we've had the misfortune to have Stroud officiate one of our games. | |

I understand some refs will agree to what the linesman can flag for but I sit in the East in line with the 18 yard and the linesman on this side gave a few offsides so that might have been agreed but the linesman on the west waved for two challenges against Blackpool so that theory imo doesn't hold water | |

I honestly thought after the first Laird Penalty shout he was going to give us something as the pressure was building on him, but he did complete opposite, didn't give us a thing all day was a shocking performance and one he seemed to have enjoyed, which is the most concerning thing. |  | | |

We should question why they think like that though.
It was just a football league which has grown. We were part of that league growing. The game has grown where some of the teams qualify for continental trophies. Te same people would be outraged if the clubs they support were not allowed in those competitions.
