That's not good, virtually the only bit of pace we had in the first 11.

Perhaps Bournemouth promised not to run him into the ground.

Idiotic comment. When did we ever do that?

Probably didn't run as much as CR

I didn’t see the benefit of them loaning him out again to the RM style.

Last season it was much needed experience for him. But I did find it strange that they decided it was a good idea to send him to us when we play a style completely alien to what Man Utd do.

As much as it is annoying you can see why he would get far more progression at Bournemouth than with us. Bournemouth go out and attack and it’s all about winning, which is the Man Utd blueprint.

Same with Gallagher leaving Charlton to come to us.

This style of play and the lack of results it brings has various knock on effects, this is just one of them.

Indeed. You'd have thought we'd have woken up to what's really going on.

Players are NOT being developed now with us and clubs will be reluctant to loan their kids to us .

This starts from the top

If this is true it will expose the absolute lack of pace in the squad as there is no obvious replacement with the pace & quality required for this division

Naughton will have to go there in the short term I guess.

At least we have a chance to have some real natural CB’s in their correct position now. Could be a blessing in disguise.

Unless we can get a decent replacement it should push RM to a 4 at the back formation & keep Bidwell around at least until the summer.

Can’t see Martin changing formation or his ‘philosophy’. Naughton is a good full back in this division but he has never been the type get to the bylines to get a cross in or beat a man when one-on-one

Have to say neither did Laird ,certainly in his last 2/3 games , always looking to move the ball on rather take on the player ,still a big loss

When Laird first arrived, he was eager to attack as much as possible. He would frequently (and often successfully) attempt to dribble past full backs and put crosses into the box.

The fact that he no longer takes as many risks in his game as the season has progressed is perhaps an indication that he has been instructed to play "safer". Russell Martin praising our possession statistics in the press every other week throws credibility to that line of thought.

Either he doesn't like the city; Laird feels his development is being restricted here; or Manchester United feel his development is being restricted here.

Regardless, it does not reflect well on Swansea City.

Good points but our last three games have seen us play at walking pace. Is it more of a midfield problem? Playing Grimes and Smith together didn’t help at all

I'm not sure one of, if not the richest club in the world prioritise what is essentially chump change for them over the development of an academy player who has a realistic chance of making it into the first team squad.

Perhaps if he had already broken through and failed (Tuanzebe; Brandon Williams etc) they'd be seeking just to cash in for as much as they can. I can't imagine that's the case with Laird at this time.

Last 2-3 games absolutely. He has either been fatigued, carrying an injury or has had it coached out of him. Earlier in the season he seemed to be getting better and better but has regressed in the last 5-6 matches. From what we have seen of him we have no idea if he will make a decent full back as he done very little defending

Yeah that will be the reason

Nothing to do with them being in the promotion run and paying a higher loan fee.
