Dean Thornton has put this out a video on youtube. It shows how Fisher and one defender can comfortably play around one forward sometimes two, No sure how it works with 2 or 3 forwards closing down in an orchestrated manner.

Exactly !!! But we don't bloody do it, but we persist. The opposition usually pick and choose the most opportune moment when they press as most teams will send it long now and again. Its different with us, they know we won't virtually no matter what. I noticed on Saturday, they were closing us down in 2's and 3's, but they were rarely the same individuals. |  | | |

Stoke, those fine ambassadors of fast free flowing, Barcelonaesque type football, won 1-3 quite easily down here, as I remember. With Clucas putting the tin hat on it, by taking the p**s out of the corner of the East bank fans, after he scored.
If we made Stoke look good, then you know Plan A doesn’t work if you haven’t the personnel to carry it out. Especially against their aggressive high press on the night.
Let’s hope against hope that RM, ( and I’m not holding my breath ) recognised the battling team performance after going down to 10 men, when we seemed to play less suicide football at the back. One of the pro SKY commentators observed at the time, that RM seemed to be giving instructions for Fisher to be more direct because of this.
He also pointed out that our only goal came from a more direct move ie. a couple of passes, and a cross into the box.
Did anyone see the stats of crosses in the game ?

Even when we do break the first line of their press, we end up passing it back and go through the same process again. The easier option really is the easier option and clearing your lines is basic stuff.Any fit quick forwards have a chance against us. Fisher almost gifted a classic howler in the first minute of this first game.
We CAN play and when we do move it quick and FORWARD we can score as we did last time out.This is not heresy.Grimes is often the one to slow us down yet he can pass well and forwards too. .Downes going forward is a great sight and we should treasure this lad instead of dropping him back to CH. He is a victim of his own versatility .
